  1. Cracking read like, all bang on in all. Love the bit where he compares our period of instability as crazier than one of his house parties
  2. and I agree with Billy Castell nowt we can do really.
  3. According to the bloke who headed the bid (on Radio 5) we have representatives on committees who can't even be arsed to turn up to the meetings most of the time. I would imagine that goes down like a wet fart and only reinforces the arrogant stereotypes about the English. Fucking hell I mean to be fair a lot of our lot are just a dodgy and lazy as the Fifa bunch so it's no surprise to hear this sort of thing happening, I do also think there was a sense of entitlement to our bid which obviously contributed to the view but to get only 1 vote besides our own it's definitely been a bit more than people thinking we're stuck up.
  4. I agree Alex especially to the latter bit it's just a shame that a country like ours who've contributed so much to world football can be so poorly represented (partly our fault) and so looked down on.
  5. Good post that Stevie. The fact is it's a terrible decision and now with this whole January nonsense it seems they didn't put masses of foresight into the more technical aspects. Like Stevie and others have mentioned there are plenty of countries who've never had one and have contributed waaaay more to world football, you have to contribute at least something to demand something back and just saying it's their number one sport isn't a valid reason it's the number one in the majority of countries. Having it in Qatar means nowt to the rest of the middle east, a lot of Muslim hardliners in the region will probably find it insulting and there is a lot of one upmanship in the region like someone has already mentioned and Qatar will be more than happy to rub it in their neighbors faces. Oh and for what it's worth Stevie nowt you said in there can be deemed racist it's just an easy out in an argument like this.
  6. Colombia didn't host the '86 world cup so that 'point' is meaningless, there is a big difference between high crime areas and holding it in a country where some may be excluded from the tournament. You preaching how we should accept this country is fucking laughable they are some of the least accepting people on earth, plus it's a country of 1.7m it's smaller than Manchester it's so fucking insignificant the only reason this World cup is being hosted there is bribery. More worthy bids were turned down in favor of this utter joke of a bid they want to hold it in January imagine how shit either the tournament or the leagues would be during that time. Also Kevin aye I am pissed off about the England bid because we were stitched up and everyone knows it.
  7. It's also a massive fuck on finding a place to put your coat especially if you're clubbing which normally means queuing at the start and end of the night plus paying for it, easier to put up with being cold for a bit I reckon.
  8. Where did I say that? Straight out of the LeazesMag school of argumentation TBH. They don't though!! they have laws against Jews, homosexuals and women how can fifa endorse that? I know I'm banging on about it but acrossthepond doesn't have one single defense to that point. Nope nothing to say about it, thought not. It's a disgrace a country so intolerant has won this bid how can you say they're worthy of holding a spectacle of football where other races and religions are represented yet they are completely intolerant of a lot of them. it'd have been just as much a 1st if it went to Australia as it is putting it in Qatar, I hope you're on the wind up and not serious btw.
  9. How can you have a go at him because you feel they should be involved yet they have laws against Jews and homosexuals?
  10. They reckon they've solved that and they're apparently asking Fifa if it can be held in January as although the stadiums will be indoor they weren't as sure how to make a load of training facilities. What a fucking joke it just becomes more and more pathetic with every passing day. There's still not been any one that's defending the stupid bid mention the anti-Semitic and homophobic AND sexist laws that stand in that place.
  11. Boro's current position shows we should have just let the cunts in so we could all cuff them to finally shut them up. Rangers striker is Kenny Miller end of any argument about them being good tbh.
  12. They don't want Jews or homosexuals in their country ffs, they restrict womens rights and they dont allow any alcohol consumption how is that a fair and equal place to hold a world cup? You can't just give it to a country for the sake of giving them it, it's been backhanders and dodgy dealing that's how they have it they do not have it on merit. Australia hasn't held a world cup either and have had a much larger impact on the world game the country is smaller than greater Manchester ffs they've done nothing for football history, they've not even qualified for a world cup and never will until they get their automatic spot due to being hosts. If there are no better host possibilities in the region then you can't just give it to them on default because you want one there, it's just been gained through money into Fifa rep's pockets not merit.
  13. Nail on the head pal, Qatar is just a prefabbed shithole in the middle of a desert totally soulless place same as dubai.

    Stevie

    Happy birthday mate
  15. Think I read somewhere that platini voted for Russia and Qatar, supposedly we've scrapped this friendly with thailand and all the training we do in Trinidad and tobago and using that money for grass roots football.
  16. I agree, loaning youngsters like Vela wont help us advance it's like the mackems loaning welbeck he's done decent and they want to keep him but man utd told them to fuck off so what will they do next season.
  17. Just had a quick spy on the mackem forum and they have 2 threads about this, I'm really unsure why it's seen as funny Williamson barely puts a foot wrong in any game he plays fair enough he's no world beater but he's better than every single centre back they have at the club and Ranger is a decent young prospect. You lot signed a player we all recognised as totally braindead and chucked away for nowt as a £5m signing who is probably on more than Williamson's new deal. One of them even laughed when one lad had the sense to say Williamsons better than mensah fuck me how is that even up for dispute? Like I said before it's good news 2 decent players who wont be on astronomical wages tied down for a while you have to tie people down to these long deals now because they can arrange contracts with other clubs, buy out their contracts etc with so much time remaining on them now.
  18. He's been solid glad he's on a long deal, Ranger is raw but hopefully could turn into a decent player.
  19. Like the end of Men in black where we're in a marble!
  20. I think it's definitely disillusioned a lot of people worldwide.
  21. Aye it does my head in as well. especially when you start thinking about where does it end and what comes after it all like how does it just keep going? into what exactly?
  22. It was just on the news there saying they're going to build around 5 new cities for the world cup and it's half the size of wales then after the tournament the stadiums will be deconstructed and sent (sold) to African nations, wonder what will happen to the cities they've built round them probably ghost towns i reckon. I've no problem whatsoever like you say of expanding where the game is but a country of 1.6m where there's no where to even play football except in one of these air conditioned stadiums they're having a laugh. I know it had a WC recently but if expanding the game was the real motive (which it's obviously not) it should have went to USA as it's beginning to pick up in interest over there lads are playing it to an older age whereas it used to just be played until they were deemed old enough to play american football the cable that my lass' parents have in their house has a mental amount of football channels the MLS is expanding I know the New York Cosmos are being reformed supposedly by 2013. I'd imagine a lot of the interest maybe comes from the fact you can get full scholarships to colleges now to play football there, I was shocked how much some lads knew about it (not as much as most lads over here but still decent) and I think having the 2022 world cup would have been a big deal. sorry for the rambling just seems FIFA have fucked up a lot of good opportunities I mean I'm not sure what Oz is like maybe it's gaining a better following like in the USA and the 2022 WC would have converted more, the decision to not give us the 2018 was political I mean the fact we got 1 fucking vote besides out own shows that but this Qatar 2022 thing is a total shocker to me.
  23. Interesting but we also have to consider women - whom aren't allowed to do most things in Qatar and of course - synonymous with a lot of football supporters and their raison d'etre, drinking! Well this is it, like I said a bit higher up what will the Israel national team do? Jews don't exactly have many fans in Qatar and like you've said drinkings a complete no-no and there wont be a world cup fanny thread sadly . Might be wrong, but I don't think you're allowed into Qatar with an Israeli passport... I know this is true with UAE and that Qatar is part of the same anti-Jewish group (something about not receiving any imports from Israel) so that could well be true mate.
