  1. Howay

    The Falklands

Because they don't want to be Argentinian.
  2. Howay man don't mention the 9-1 it still really hurts. If we hadn't of lost our starting half back to Tuberculosis a week before it'd of all been different.
  3. Aye this will be the formation, the central midfield is the worry but it's not like we have many options.
  4. Enrique would start, Bassong at the moment with Taylor injured maybe. Barton on the bench/on the right and Carroll would make the bench over Shola.
  5. Howay

    Demba Ba

He's got everyone googly eyed, howay Cabaye you're losing your men. It's interesting what he says about the differences in training regimes as well.
  6. Wouldn't stake my life on it, just all I've heard is that they were smoggies which does seem odd giving that he kicked a boro player but you know they're a bit funny down there with their 7 toes and 3 eyes.
  7. Aye that and he doesn't grasp that this thread was made when Pardew was first appointed so the title is hardly 'fickle', don't think we'll be seeing much of this mug for a few month after March 4th anyway.
  8. Aye we have pictures of our past greats on the walls and they have a goalkeeper celebrating in front of a gutted Shearer, they're not obsessed though. Still liked John Hall's story about the little picture he kept on his desk of a mackem sitting looking down in the rain at the SOL during one of out many wins there with an Aldi bag on his head as a retaliation.
  9. They were smoggies apparently, really confusing though especially the lad that kicked the boro player.
  10. They're going mental in the comments calling him classless, to be fair though it'd be like going to the house of someone that's stalking you. They're obsessed with Shearer even to the level where they have a huge blown up picture of a penalty miss of his adorning a wall inside that shithole ground of theirs, I bet he said 'no thanks' with a big grin across his face good on him.
  11. Agreed and it's really Cruz's 1st because he was badly injured last year incredible that in his 2nd year he's easily beating double coverage, JPP is a monster. Agreed about Amukamara I was expecting him and Patrick Peterson to both be gone in the top 10-15, obviously Peterson went quickly but Amukamara really slipped. Think we're going to see a lot of talented players going lower than they should in this draft too. Edit: Speaking of Cruz http://www.cbssports...475988/34773707 not really surprising tbh I'd probably give it a try after such a great year.
  12. Vastly overrated player but probably can be classed as an above average defensive midfielder, think he's still not up to the standard he played at pre- Bullard leg break.
  13. He's waiting for Barca or Real Madrid man because as we know it's nothing to a manager like him to win the CL and title multiple years in a row with teams like those.
  14. This along with alot of Tom's post is the crux of it tbh. The 'old guard' Terry, Ferdinand, Lampard, Gerrard etc need dropping their international careers are over they've had plenty of chances in tournaments and they're not suddenly going to win it now in their 30's (I know Italy 2006 but them players still give a fuck whereas this group stopped caring at 26). It's been a big difference between us and sides like Germany (I know they have better players) who when they started to slump they dropped their older lot and went straight to the youngsters allowing them to come through together which is what we should have done straight after the 2010 debacle, instead Capello played the youngsters in friendlies we've played better football but as soon as the important games come round it's back to the old shite and we're back to struggling for goals against USA and Algeria. Cahill, Richards, Smalling, Jones, Cleverley, Wilshere, Welbeck, Sturridge etc should all be more involved than they are currently (as well as players like Adam Johnson even though he can't get many games for Man City) in the same vein that Gotze, Muller, Kroos etc were blooded in quickly. These players will actually try for England (as shown against Spain). I think the point made earlier about Capello looking for a way out was a good one because speaking out in the way he did hasn't been his style over this tenure (or his previous ones) and it seems a bit odd he'd come out like he did when Terry quite obviously made the comments he stands accused of. Load of waffle really but Capello is a good manager but it didn't suit him or England, maybe cliche but we need an English manager either Redknapp or even Pearce would be my choices (I think Pearce would pick youth and he is very passionate about the national side) obviously the Team GB Olympic team is a slight problem for Pearce.
  15. Aye he's an excellent club football manager he just isn't great at international management (or pretty disinterested in it, refusing to learn the language etc plays into that), they're very different jobs.
  16. Aye I can see something like this happening in all likelihood. Edit: I've not actually read up on this but it's something about breach of his contract right? over Terry?
  17. Get Redknapp appointed the morra before we play them.
  18. We also won the league that season you tramp, if you're actually trying to use that game as some sort of insult you need to get a grip. Name the scorers without looking it up online, fucking mug. If they'd filmed that game and you watched now you'd think it was more like rugby than football, come back when you beat us 4-1 at SJP and 5-1 a the stadium of shite in the modern game,
  19. 1. It's been phenomenal no-one (ourselves obviously included) saw this happening, I'd love to finish in the top 6 and if we continue to play how we've been playing I can see it happening especially as the 3 teams you've mentioned imo are nothing special Liverpool are an average team with a bad manager, Chelsea are an aging team with a bad manager and Arsenal are pretty average if they lose RVP (same can be pointed at us but everyone reckons we're mid-table anyway). 2. Top 3, Spurs and the Manchester clubs are the best 3 squads this season imo. 3. He's a tosser but he's our tosser, good manager gets the best out of his players. 4. He's a tosser but he's your tosser, good manager gets the best out of his players (to be clear he's a better manager than Pardew at the moment) 5. Yes I'd take him back in the £8m range, Dalglish is a total mug and he's the reason Carroll looks poor he's an old fashioned target man where if you have 2 wingers giving him crosses he'll score goals. Dalglish is too busy standing up for racism in sport and condoning Suarez's attempts on the lives of players like Parker mid-game. 6. Yes I believed those 3 were key to us (Enrique too) but the replacements brought in like Santon, Cabaye, Ba/Cisse have more than filled their roles and Santon aside they're far better than what we previously had. 7. Extremely highly, one of the best keepers in this division at 23 phenomenal talent. He is very tall, has big safe hands, controls his box well and is a fantastic shot stopper he also grabs the ball like a keepers should rather than this punching away crap players like Reina do. Probably similar to how you fear Modric leaving. 8. for us Ba, Colocinni and (when he's on top of his game which he hasn't been) Ben Arfa. For your lot Modric, Lennon and (when he's on top of his game) Bale. 9. I'd love to see us get this Douglas lad from FC Twente we've been linked with but really no one knows our targets. To be a top 4 threat we need another good CB, another good full back, either 1 winger or 2 (depending on Marveux's fitness) and I think we'd be starting to transition to an excellent team aside from those we'd need more depth. 10. Hope for a draw, think it'll be a loss as long as Ba + Cisse score to keep their confidence up and we thrash Wolves and the Mackems to make up for is. If we had Tiote and Cabaye I'd be a little more confident but the Perchinator will get torched by Modric.
  20. This, Guthrie and Perch did well but Petrov/Ireland/Bannan aren't the same level as Modric, Parker etc. Like Toonotl mentioned any mistakes they make are much more likely to be punished by Modric, is Van Der Vaart out? if he is it'll give Perch a little less to deal with in the gap between midfield and defence. We also has to hope Bale has one of his off games, Lennon being questionable is a big boost too he tore us a new one when he switched flanks (iirc last season?) when Bale wasn't doing much. Agreed with Williamson he's been very disappointing and he's a big worry for me the ball he panicked and kicked out to Modeste when Krul was coming to collect it leaving Modeste with a wide open net would definitely have resulted in a goal against spurs. I'd love to scrape a draw but as long as we beat Wolves and the mackems I wont be too worried especially with Liverpool's tough upcoming fixtures.
  21. True they aren't as good as recent winners but they're still a pretty well rounded team. Eli just become elite tbh 2 superbowl wins and 2 superbowl MVP awards, when there's 2 minutes left in a game, the Giants are down by a touchdown or less and Eli comes on he makes the touchdown 9 times out of ten. This has been Pierre Paul's 1st great season, Tuck wasn't as good as he normally is but he made 2 sacks in the Superbowl. Cruz is fantastic, he's the same as Pierre Paul in that he needs to repeat his success next year before he can be considered an elite level player but the way he dealt with constant double coverage towards the end of the season as teams realized how effective he is point towards him doing that. Their rookies like Aaron Ross and Prince Amukamara really come on towards the end of the season too, saying all that I don't see them getting close to repeating as the NFC is very very strong and the Patriots are already down as favorites with the bookies over here (mainly due to their 2 1st round picks and 2 2nd rounders).
  22. He's not that bad man, he doesn't do tonnes right but he's not a liability either really.
  23. Aye he started getting starts young but that is more of a reason that he should be more assured by now. I agree with you it's a shame players are written off so quick but this is what professional sports are now, Sunday was his best performance for us imo he actually attacked his man and put in some strong tackles whereas normally he's been shirking from tackles and hiding from the ball this lad was the 'next big thing' so now that all that stuff is behind him he should be very relaxed in his football but he still plays as if he's panicking at times. Jonas works like that every game, if Obertan puts in shifts like that every match then I'm sure people will warm to him a bit. I think he's an okay squad player but I think he's much more of a threat coming off the bench (same as Best is) as his pace gives us an outlet late in the game and he seems to be a little better at making decisions when he's against a tired fullback. I'm not writing him off I'm just saying that after 100 professional games he should be more decisive than he is, I put him in a similar bracket that I put Simpson and Ryan Taylor (when he plays in midfield) in that they are capable of playing at this level but I would prefer them to be back-up if we are to kick on to the next level. It's also hard for me to see him as a youngin when he's a month older than me
  24. We were the worst fans in the world for moaning about Allardyce, they'd be wanting us kicked out of the premiership if we went on like this tbh.
  25. Only a bairn He's young but he's had over 100 starts in professional football games, I can let lads like Sammy Ameobi off for being a bit indecisive but by now Obertan really should have some semblance of an idea of what he's going to do with the ball when he gets it.
