About the Krul thing, at his current age Krul is much more well rounded than Given at that age. We'll see how Krul develops mind as Given in his prime was a very good keeper for us.

This tbh. There haven't been many better shot stoppers than Given in his prime but his command of the box on crosses and corners has always been abysmal and has stopped him from ever reaching the heights of Cech, Van Der Saar etc I don't think Friedel was any better than him mind. He was very good for us and as Tooj said he saved us on many occasions but he's finished now tbh.

Odd we got it on CBS or NBC (can't remember which) up here in New Jersey, the Monday night American football was put on ESPN here. Watched the final 2 sets as I got home late, cracking finish Djokovic was really struggling towards the end and tbh Murray was finding it tough too as anyone would 5 hours into a tennis game. Big congratulations to Murray chuffed for him.

We've been spoiled by most of our foreign imports (Cisse, Cabaye and Tiote in particular) all taking to the league as if they'd played in England before. Anita has the pace and strength to make it in the premiership, just think it's going to take him a while to adapt to the pace of the league and the amount of pressing teams do. Bigi has really impressed me mind especially for a lad so young, could really prove to be a valuable member of the squad this season.

Agreed, the poor crossing and set pieces are worrying and need sorted. I also thought Obertan looked canny in the few minutes he was on, think it was mentioned somewhere Steve Stone's been coaching him 1 on 1 and it's really showed in his last 2 outings he goes at his man and looks to cross now as opposed to looking clueless, obviously not at a level where I'd start him but he's a good sub/backup if he keeps improving.

Disappointing result tbh, thought we deserved to win as poor as we were. Cabaye had a poor game, Cisse was anonymous. Thought Ba and Jonas worked very hard and Ben Arfa kept his run of good performances up. Anita's passing was poor but I'm hoping it's just the pace of the league and he needs time to settle, Bigi impressed me particularly his strength to hold off Ireland in the corner and blocking Bent's shot. Really thought Cabaye's free kick was in, great save by Guzan. We seem to have started really sluggishly this season, hopefully it'll all fall into place and there's not a bigger problem like what Fish said.

Agree, When a talented youngster gets a chance at first team level it shows them that things they get away with in a youth/reserve level may cost them at the higher level. It gives them a good glimpse into their faults and where they need to improve as opposed to whipping other young lads then at 22-23 learning half the stuff you regularly do wont work.

Aye seems to have a great attitude and from the sounds of things is very talented. Hope the lad makes it as its great to produce our own, sounds a very strong reserve/developmental side.
