Aye I guess that's their plan. Read an article the other day about a young full back who will be Shaw's replacement, meant to be very capable but still chucking in a load of youngsters in to premiership games would make me a bit nervous if I was a Southampton fan. Mind saying all that it's worked for them in the past with Shaw, Ward-Prowse etc.
-
16m and only played around 25 prem games. He does look good mind. Who the fuck are they going to field this season? I haven't seen them making too many moves of their own, just Tadic to replace Lallana and Pelle to replace Lambert. Rodriguez, Schneiderlin and Osvaldo all linked with moves away as well, I know they were struggling financially but they have to say enough is enough sometime soon surely.

Agreed, we've not got a really strong cb now tbh. In previous years Colo definitely was but last year he wasn't looking his best, hopefully he comes back into form. We really need a CB, cover at full back and at least 1 striker.
-
This, whack in a goal bonus and a release clause above what we paid for him and he'll have ample motivation. We know he can score and with the lads we've brought in he'd get plenty of chances.

Like a tramp on hot chips.
-
Did he really just compare himself to Gazza? What a fucking cock.
-
Lovren set for a medical at Liverpool and Chambers signing for Arsenal, £20m and £16m respectively. Southampton have raked in a tremendous amount of money but it seems pretty mental they've let all these players go in one window.
-
It's also a bit ropey using those stats in comparison with Arsenal, yes they attempt a similar amount of long passes but they also have a significantly higher amount of passes per game then us. We sit at around 14% of our passes being long ball compared with Arsenals 10%, from what it looks like we're about middle of the road and play a mix. I feel CSD is right about the difference in long ball as a lot of ours do come from Williamson which bypass the midfield and often fail which is frustrating and stands out more, but I think when the ball is played to midfield we tend to keep it on the deck more.

Aye that is the odd think about Barton, for a bloke that has had as many chances as he has he doesn't give anyone else a break.
-
That fucking denpressure man. The signal molecules might freeze if they get too close to the ice dome n'aaarl
-
I love that Barton thinks he's some fucking scholar now, you're still the same bloke who stubs cigarettes out in kids eyes and assaults 17 year olds Joey. Lived in France for a season and likes to act like he's got his finger on the pulse of French culture in all. Think he even proclaimed himself a Marseilles legend on a recent facebook post too. I had time for him but he's becoming completely unbearable now.

I reckon Cabella and De Jong will chip in more goals then our midfield last season (Cabella scored a decent amount in a poor montpellier team didn't he?), my fear is they seem to be hoping Riviere can carry us through until Cisse recovers. I think Cisse will probably look better as he'll have a greater variety of service than he had last year, but he's out for a while. My main worry is the centre backs, Colo looked tired at times last year and I can't see him playing week in week out which leaves us down to Willo and Taylor. Both can be decent (especially Willo) when alongside a decent CB but together is worrying. Of course they could move Janmaat inside but we're not exactly flush with full backs and I'd rather not see Dummett.
-
What the fuck is the point in loaning him out then paying a sizable portion of his wages ffs. They should just keep him or sell him and bring someone else in (personally would prefer they kept him), unless they think if he goes and performs well in France he'd command a bigger fee then atm. Wank idea either way.
-
Agree, it's a shame they can't try and discuss him signing a 1 year deal without the extension trigger in it, even if it was for a little more money at least we'd get the use of the player. Seems a waste having him sat about doing fuck all, when like you and Tom have said he is a useful squad player to have.
-
Aye, we're not great but them daft fuckers are part of the relegation scrap every fucking season.

Class, it's basically been worth him signing just for the torture they're suffering due to it.

Agreed, they'd have a very good shot at the title. Read somewhere they were looking at Blind as well.

Lots of rumours of Mats Hummels going to Man Utd for around 16m, hell of a buy for them if that comes through.
-
He has the talent and physical tools to be a canny prem striker, but like you say his injury record since he left us is atrocious and likes a drink. I agree with CSD that he probably gives more effort for Newcastle than he has elsewhere but 15m would be a risk. If he was available for 6-8m I'd be chuffed to see him back, but at 15m+ and 100k a week wages, I can't see Ashley going for that.

Awful news this, I assumed it had been a birthday thread as well. Didn't know the lad personally but he come across as a good bloke on here, thoughts are with his family.
-
Aye but that kept Steven Taylor out for months, bit of a bonus really.
-
Aye the father done well to stop himself going further and then calling the police to let them handle it.
