  1. You know footy is completely fucking mental when a post like this is perfectly on topic on a footy forum.
  2. Aye they've all went from the next coming of Jesus Christ, complete with Che Guevara style t-shirts and posters, to being complete and utter wank in 1 seasons worth of football. The difference being pretty much everyone wanted to just keep Hughton over Pardew when he was appointed anyway and no one, apart from CT, lauded Pardew too highly even after coming 5th most said it was a good accomplishment but saw we relied heavily on two strikers going through purple patches and a largely injury free season so it wouldn't last. If a manager got them to 5th they'd probably rename the stadium after him, build a statue that looks nothing like him and then 8-12 month later announce he's shit and a mag as they saw a picture of him at the cinema in the gate.
  3. Aye, the Ashley being a tight chancer definitely makes me more nervous Carver will be appointed. The thing that is giving me faith that he wont is that Carver has actually been given more than a fair shot and has done as badly as anyone could have possibly expected, he gave Carver a shot when no one else would have and he has fucked it up (even if we avoid relegation the fact we've come this close should be enough) putting Ashley's profitable investment at risk. I still think Carver will be strung out along with Charnley as scapegoats for the season and we'll have the next batch of useless, unqualified pricks to make a mess of next season while Ashley continues to be the problem.
  4. I kna, although from the reports on him we may as well play Darlow there. Probably end up being accurate though wont it, we wont be seeing 10 buys coming through the door in the summer. I can see a window similar to Jan the other year and 6 or so brought in with a few loans to back that up, we'll still end with a squad too thin and glaring talent gaps in certain positions.
  5. Aye it's sad tbh, they've never shut up about us despite having a total dogshit season of their own. Although I suppose this is a fairly standard season for them. They're also conveniently sweeping the fact they're playing a bloke that's charged with being a paedo aside on the ol' moral train. The constant "well you thick cunts booed Pardew out, now you're moaning about Carver" is fucking tragic too btw, for a start Palace fans are starting to grumble about the old silver fox so it wont take much longer of his wank brand of losing football to bring that out of more of them, it's also ridiculous to say 'you booed your shit manager out after he went on a horrific 12 month stretch and left to quadruple his pay so therefore you can't moan about his replacement' no one would have picked him as a replacement ffs, Ashley is the only one.
  6. I don't fancy Darlow covering CB mind Fish So the grand plan is to loan a bunch of 19 year olds and pray one or two of them come off like Perez did? Sounds about as well thought out as any other Ashley plan tbh.
  7. Sure. Why not. One of the shittest possible runs on a squad ever , wish it was more like the Leeds one. I think Austin and Fer are about the only ones worth the bother but I completely agree that Austin would definitely pick Southampton over us. The other problem with these QPR players is they're all on fucking mental contracts, I think that Nedum Onhoua was on 50k or 60k a week so I cant imagine what a good player like Fer would be on. That George Boyd from Burnley has looked a canny player anytime I've seen him play, I'm sure they'd try to keep him but maybe worth a bid.
  8. Kenny Dalglish, Landon Donovan and Brooklyn Beckham thanks for that Fish. Oh btw it's Yaya Toure's birthday today, hope he got his cake
  9. Aye I agree, it's crackers that a bloke like him is in the position he's in. The most troubling thing is he's only in that position due to being underpaid for his position and that he's fully happy to do it for that pay while feeding the fanbase Ashley's bilge. I think it's getting utterly ridiculous now as even the daftest fans are switched on to the clubs shit enough to see through every statement they make, when they used to lap up the clubs promises. The club is fucking rank and has been thoroughly cheapened out from top to bottom and it's thoroughly depressing. It's always odd just how fucking cheap Ashley is, he could quite easily appoint a Moyes level manager for 2m a year or so and a capable, intelligent Director that actually aids in seeking out talented, young players, we'd wipe out their wages by finishing 2 or so places higher in the table ffs. We could then be confident in survival, have a competitive squad and always buy from a position of strength but no, he'll just be a fat cheap wanker and try to skate by with completely unqualified staff. The biggest question is why even have Charnley? what's the point? The club rarely comes out with statements, unless of course there is some slight against the owners trampy shops, so why not have a secretary do them and then wheel Beardsley/Moncur/Carver or some other bloke that's under Ashley's thumb to put their name to it? Hell he could just get a bloke that works for him at sports direct to call Ryder up and feed him the bullshit, I'm sure Ryder would drag his balls through broken glass to have something like that given to him. In short he's just a fat blob in a suit and It would be no surprise whatsoever if he was made to be the fall guy along with Carver at the end of the season and some other completely unqualified winnet that Ashley knows is wheeled in to completely avoid signing the players we need.
  10. Aye Elliot is dogshit but he'd probably want more money than Elliot. I definitely agree we need to upgrade the goalkeeping position as I think Krul needs to be pushed a bit more as you said earlier, hopefully Darlow can do some of that but from last I heard he wasn't great (I've not seen the lad play), I'd love to see the back of Elliot either way mind as I think he was a Pardew lackey and he seems like a total bellend.
  11. Aye crackers tbh, Dummett has actually been good due to his versatility. I'm glad I kept a save from before I took over Schalke as I'm starting to miss my Sheff Utd game after writing that!
  12. Meanwhile Carver, Taylor and Stone are chilling out:
  13. Aye, it's going to be worth the price of admittance. Should just fuck the game off and allow the fans to play in place of the players.
  14. No clue tbh Andrew, that game sounds a laugh mind. They just hit teams with heavy fines that failed last time but I don't know what they'd do in the sort of situation you're on about. I've been playing a game using the moneyball approach that you posted the other week but I chose Sheffield United, I got them into the Premiership relatively easily with back to back promotions and finished 9th in my first Prem season but didn't sell any players for the mental money that he managed to get despite similar high performances, Che Adams scored 30 for me in the Championship which prompted a 7m bid from QPR but he rejected it. My star finds so far have been this winger called Hernani from Porto that I got for 160k and he's been averaging over a 7 for me in the Prem, worth around 5m now and a striker called Kleber also from Porto reserves and despite 15 goals in the Premier League I got no bids. I've been struggling for goals 2nd season and I was given a decent transfer budget for January, I've tried Chris Woods, Charlie Austin and Babacar all bought for under 800k each and none have worked out over the last 2 years. I sold my star centre back Pablo Insua after my first Prem season for 10.25m to Liverpool and he promptly tore his hammy upon arrival ( serves the pricks right for unsettling him) so it funded a few buys to strengthen the squad which as of December 2017 is: Vinicius Araujo (from Valencia for 1.2m worth 7m) Mohammed Salah (4.3m worth 8.5m) Ryan Mason (3.6m now 9m) Hernani (160k now 5m) Louis Reed (youth player) Joshua Guilavogui (1.2m from Barca B now 6m) Davide Santon (3.6m now 5.5m) Sergi Gomez (2.3m now 7.25m) Eric Matholo (free now 2.6m) Ivan (1.6m now 5.75m) Fernando Pacheco (free from R. Madrid when in Championship, now worth 4.1m) Also Have: Danny Wilson (free, worth 7.5m) Dodo (1.6m worth 2.5m) Andi Weimann (450k worth 1.8m) Josh McEachran (67k worth 400k) Nick Powell (Free now 1.7m) Paul Dummett (600k now 1.6m) Guido Vadala (3.6m now 5m) I also had Lucas Silva from Madrid, bought him for 3m and sold for 15m to Napoli. I have signed a few players for the January window: Mitrovic (6m which is my biggest signing), Corentin Tolisso (3.2m), Munir (2.1m, I didn't need after Mitrovic but saw him for this ridiculous asking price) and Serge Gnabry (3m) Every player in the squad is on less that 22k a week, the only ones that will be on more than that now are Mitrovic and Munir who took 34k and 27k contracts. The club is saying it'll easily manage FFP and projects 160m profit (that's what it says in that FFP report I know it never ends up being that much) and I'm untouchable at the moment. Hoping the new signings can give me an extra bit of quality to get me in the Europa League, I'm surprised at the mental transfer bids some of the other lad that done it managed to receive but I've been accepting any that come in at above their valuation. Ryan Mason is my captain and has been great for me but hasn't received an England call up yet (Delia is managing England and is doing a shit job) despite public pressure over the last 4 squads. The only player that has really survived from the original Sheffield squad besides Louis Reed is John Brayford, he's not really up to the level I want but he actually outperforms his stats and every member of the squad has "thinks John Brayford is a good player" in their information so I'm sure he has great hidden stats. I accepted a job offer from Schalke so have split my game in two (one saved just before I accepted the Schalke position so I can go back to it) as I fancied the challenge of trying to moneyball Bayern out of the title . I think the game has a slight limit on this type of game method mind as anytime I get to a point where the players are mostly regens they always seem to shoot up in price and begin to demand insane wages very quickly, hopefully it's better on this FM as I've not reached that point yet on this one.
  15. Aye I always assumed he was gone for 1 game, as like you say it was two yellows. He does get booked a fair bit so maybe he's reached a number that would give a game ban? more likely that Ryder is wrong mind.
  16. I guess, just seems odd when he's trying to get a move to another club. His prerogative I guess, can't say I wish him well mind he's becoming like N'zogbia in my eyes. Just glad Janmaat's back. He's the one that matters tbh, I'd prefer Dummett playing CB than Williamson anyway.
  17. Aye Brad Jones is fucking tragic. There are a few on that list but I just worry about wages more than anything as with them being free transfers I'm sure they'd be wanting more than we'd offer, unless there's something wrong with them that makes them fail medicals at other clubs of course.
  18. Aye, I'd look at it as how he reacts to adversity and it would worry me if I was thinking about plunging 10m+ into him as well as a 50k a week contract. Tevez was constantly fucked around by Mr Pardew and still just worked hard eventually scoring the goals that kept them up when Pardew was basically forced to play him, and that's a bloke everyone was tipping as a superstar (and clearly eventually went on to fulfill that), meanwhile Sissoko hears a rumour that Arsenal might be interested and decides to start pouting and putting in little to no effort because he's too big time. Would make me wonder how he'd react to a lengthy spell on the bench tbh. Could be completely wrong and he'd suddenly become a class hardworking player but like I say it'd make me think twice as a scout for a big club.
  19. Eeeeee ayyyyyyeeee eeeeee ayyyeeeeee eeeeeee ayyyyyyeee ohhhhhhhhhh Down the Premier Leauge we go When we get to Brighton This is what we'll sing We are Geordies Super Geordies Carver is our King!
  20. He'd struggle like, I think the way he verbally abuses those he's in charge of would mean he wouldn't last long. I do think we'll pick something up but it's more to do with Cisse than owt else and is of course depending on QPR giving similar effort to what they gave in the City game. Totally agree on Sissoko btw. He's getting to the point where it's worth considering dropping him for someone that might actually give some effort (like Abeid) the bloke is being an arsehole and his reaction to our struggles reminds me of alot of the 08/09 team, always makes me laugh how these pricks can moan that we're shite and then stop bothering completely oblivious to the fact that they're part of the problem, thinks he's a Champions League level player ffs .
  21. I think the Ings thing is more that he's a decent English player available on a free for that quota, maybe? If not then I fully agree he's below the level of player they should look at.
  22. Sounds about right, we'd not be able to afford their wages anyway.
