  1. This, it's fucking horrid.
  2. A trialist for York scored What a shambles even if it is a friendly.

That is a downside, I guess if we went that way the hope would be lascelles and Taylor/Colo would be able to manage.
  4. I know it would never happen but Villa would never live that one down basically using the entire Delph fee on Mike Williamson.

I think he's been better than Colo over the last few year tbh. I have little faith in Colocinni really, I hope most of his decline has been a symptom of playing alongside Williamson and a better defender will see him improve but he seems to have lost a lot of pace and it seems to leave him frustrated as fuck. If this Mbemba lad is decent on the ball (which he seems to be from clips) then a Shawcross type would be a class partner for him, I think it's irrelevant mind as Shawcross would be expensive as fuck. Truthfully with the 15m that's being banded about for Austin I'd rather sign a CB like Matip now and wait until January to sign Austin (of course I'd rather just get both in now but it is Ashley we're talking about) where his price will be a lot lower, unless he goes and signs a new contract with QPR.
  6. Colback is a decent lower end of the table PL player imo, if we want higher then he should be a squad player rather than a starter every week. He's tidy in possession, good professional and works off the ball, so I've no qualms about him covering for injured players or getting runs in the side if others are out of form. With the players we have he was the best CM over the season so unless Anita/Abeid starts producing or Tiote gets back to his form from a few years ago it's hard to argue against his inclusion. If we signed wingers and played Sissoko in central midfield alongside Wijnaldum with De Jong ahead of him then he'd probably lose his place.
  7. 10m is the fee that's being rumoured as well, hopefully steering clear of him.
  8. Agreed, unless Williamson leaves I think Mbemba is our lot for CB buys. We'll have Colo and Mbemba as the most likely starting partnership, with Dummett, Taylor, Williamson and Lascelles all as back up and then youth like Satka and Kemen if desperate. I just hope Williamson is below Dummett and Taylor in McClaren's pecking order but with 100 or so appearances he'll be seen as experienced enough backup to not warrant buying another. I'd quite like to find a replacement for Colo but a fully new CB partnership and a new coaching staff may be a bit too much change at the back. I'm hoping Lascelles proves to have a lot of potential and then we'd have a canny future partnership with him and Mbemba.
  9. Aye Williamson is total fucking dogshit in the air, mainly due to his complete lack of ability at judging the flight of the ball. The fact that we wont have Williamson starting automatically makes our defending the high ball better.
  10. Fantastic, I hope he keeps the celebration.
  11. Chuffed with this, we still really need defenders but this gives us a bit more depth up front. It's also good to see the club can now sack off the bloke who puts the numbers on shirts and Mitrovic is willing to double up as a player-shirt presser.
  12. I most certainly will not use Bing.
  13. His jump is important as well, the bloke seems athletic going off the pace he has so I'd be pretty confident that he can jump at least 3 inch higher than the horrifically unathletic Williamson. Tim Cahill is 5' 10" but regularly gives far taller defenders trouble in the air as he can jump so fucking high. The fact is though if he is in any way decent it'll be better than having Williamson there.
  14. Aye, it couldn't possibly be worse than the amount of free headers we gave the opposition from set pieces last season. Williamson is 6 foot 3 but he's a complete coward, if this lad is willing to actually challenge for the ball then he'll be an upgrade despite being 3" shorter.
  15. Aaron's has played 4 games with 0 assists in the Prem, Haidara has 1 assist in the Prem so I don't understand how you can say either of them are good at crossing and Ferguson isn't going to make it as a Premier League player. So out of that lot Janmaat is the only proven good crosser we have.
  16. Looks a powerful lad, especially in the air so it's a good thing we have so many good crossers of the ball...
  17. Aye Debuchy was fucking class man, the amount of times there was total panic in our 18 yard area and he ran across cool as you like chested the ball down and calmly moved the ball on to one of our players is a real miss when we have to watch Mike Williamson panic and hoof the ball straight back to the opposition. I like both players and it's hard to say who was better, especially as Janmaat has played in a worse side than Debuchy did. I agree that his injury problems at Arsenal have helped many forget how good he was, he did sometimes get caught out of position but it rarely mattered as he was so quick and athletic he was able to get back and stop them, it wasn't like when Simpson got caught out of position and it often ended in trouble for us.
  18. Especially as Dozy was 21 and 22 those years at AZ, when he was 20 and 19 (Mitrovic's age when he was scoring for Anderlecht) he went 1 goal in 12 games at Bursaspor and 1 goal in 28 games at Hull. Altidore had 2 good scoring years at AZ but never scored with any sort of regularity before that, in comparison Mitrovic managed 10 in 25 then 3 in 3 (before moving to Anderlect) with Partizan and 7 goals in 25 games in the Serbian 2nd division when he was about 16. Mitrovic is highly rated and has always had media hailing him as class, Altidore got a bit of hype off those 2 seasons but he was a fucking abomination that season on loan at Hull so it wasn't too much of a stretch to imagine he'd be shit.
