Aye if you were going to try and guarantee fucking up a managerial appointment having Lee Charnley as their boss would probably be a good place to start. Just had a quick look and they have about 8 threads about him, some very odd views. "Never rated the fat Spanish waiter" tends to be a common one, a lot reckon he got carried through success at Liverpool by the players but tbh a quick look at their CL winning squad debunks that theory. The question of whether he is still the same level he was at a few years ago is a decent one but saying I never rated him is just being daft tbh.

Steve McClaren sacked as Newcastle United 'Head Coach' (Manager)
Howay replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
He has been paid millions for the shit job he did, I'm not worried at all about the bloke. -
Aye that'll be big, I think we'll see a massive difference in the effort from the team. It probably wont be enough against a side as capable as Leicester are but we have a lot more chance than we had 2 days ago.
-
A good move for once, it's later than it should have been but at least it's the right one. We've got a tough fight now but this appointment definitely lifts the fans and most definitely the players as well, hope we stay up or it's back to managers like Pardew and McClaren for god knows how long.
-
I can't recall a player as capable at home yet so ineffective away as Wijnaldum, it's just weird. I'd say it is in part due to the set up of the team but he also just doesn't seem to play as well even when he does touch the ball.
-
Agreed that there isn't a lot he can do for the fire power, I think he will no doubt focus in on Wijnaldums finishing ability and probably try and use Mitrovic as a focus point to get Winny knock ons etc. I think he'll use Tiote, we need too tbh as I can't stand watching Jack Colback carry on pretending he is a Premier League player.
-
Aye I have so little respect for Charnley that I fully expect he was seeing what people like Phil Brown were up too, it's clear to me the man has no ambition whatsoever as if we're able to get Benitez in this position we could have definitely got better than McClaren in the summer. They basically begged McClaren to take the job for 6 months, utter utter shambles.
-
I'm glad you're excited but I can't see 2 days of training having enough effect to pull something off against a side as capable as Leicester, I really hope he does but I'm not giving it much chance and don't think the game will be in any way indicative of how he will have the team set up in future. Just hope the tramps and Norwich lose their next games too so we have 9 games (and they have 8) from the level we are at now to overtake.
-
Spot on, I get the impression Benitez's agent approached them because I highly doubt Charnley had the bottle to try for a manager of that caliber. I'm sure he was quivering looking through a wikipedia page list of 1990's/2000's English managers hoping some were out of a job.
-
Aye this is massive tbh, if he could have gotten the break after the Chelsea game with the squad he'd have them playing in a style more like what he wants by now. Instead he has basically 1 training session before we play the best side in the league, it would have been a far more manageable task if they had thought this whole thing through a bit more.
-
Then some old English cock like Warnock strides in, I think that would guarantee the last ounce of giving a flying fuck would be crushed out of most people.
-
If Lee Charnley is the man handling this I have absolutely no confidence it will happen.

Steve McClaren sacked as Newcastle United 'Head Coach' (Manager)
Howay replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
I don't believe that, he made poor tactical decisions, subs and starting line ups and those were his errors. There is the whole argument about the squad being unbalanced etc which is firmly at the door of Ashley and co but I'm not blaming playing Yoann Gouffran on Ashley and them, that's firmly on McClaren. Ashley finally looking like paying money for a proper manager as well as throwing cash about in January show how desperate he is so I don't see why he would force a manager to play shit players, just to what? put them in the shop window? I can't see that being the case. -
Aye surely this season has made it crystal clear to Ashley that we need to invest consistently, we can't just buy a load of players in a panic and put a shit cheap manager in place to tell them what to do. Think this is the first time in a while I've been somewhat arsed about us staying up as I'd like to see what Benitez would do (If he comes at all and if he stays anyway).

Expect a statement backing McClaren to come out on Sunday afternoon. -

Spot on, I feel like everything that happens with the club is like this now. Transfers take forever to finally be confirmed, to such an extent that by the time they're confirmed everyone has already known about it for 2 days. Farcical club. -
Arsenal fans.
-
Aye that's my feeling on it too. Real Madrid to the train wreck that is NUFC relegation season 2015/16, if he does come in though it further shows how fucking insane appointing McClaren was if we can bring in managers of Benitez's level.

Not sure, I just remember someone posting up something about how Charnley is no longer making the decision just overseeing it. Of course it may have been a false story but it's entirely plausible. -

Except Charnley! He has managed to put off making an important decision so long that there are reports it's not even his decision anymore. -
If they are doing that what possible reason would there be to keep McClaren? He literally has no reason to bother if that was the case, "erm so Steve you're okay with training the lads and putting in all the work for the game Monday? I mean win or lose you're gone but can you just do that?".

I'm more bothered about the negative effect this is having on the squad in the lead up to one of our last 10 games, I honestly couldn't give a fuck about a bloke who is going to be paid millions for doing a completely shit job being dicked about by the club a bit. -
Spot on, ridiculous they have taken this long to even consider a change we are in a far more precarious position than we would have been if the change was made right after the loss to Chelsea.
