Aye the VW badge gives it away, probably after a 5-0 loss to Bayern. -
Watched the Hateful Eight and Captain Phillips over the weekend as wor lass was away with friends. Really enjoyed the Hateful Eight, funny throughout and interesting enough twists and turns. Captain Phillips was okay, I guess Phillips seemed a bit calm for me but it was more down to the writing than Hanks who was very good, to be fair though I was messing about on my laptop so only half watching.

Had one decent season in Ligue 1, not exactly the sort of player you should still be bigging up 5 seasons later. Marveaux is shit, I'm fairly sure CT doesn't rate Ben Arfa and he is currently having a better season than Marveaux has ever had.

Those 8 weeks were a right laugh though weren't they? Don't say Big Mike doesn't give us some good times. -

I do get the point though Troop, I agree it'll be a 3-0 style battering. I think the team will be even less arsed now that there's not much hope of stopping up (as if they tried much before hand). -
True, maybe he'll grasp that in his first full season in the PL Luis Suarez scored 11 goals in 31 games, to put 8 in 27 in a better perspective, it's also worth noting that Suarez had half a season before that to settle in and the side created a good amount of chances (they finished 6th in the league in the season he played 6 month and 8th in his first full season). Now to be clear I am in no way saying I think Mitrovic will ever be in Suarez's class but it shows that 8 goals (with 6 games left to play) is not some paltry number.

I always forget we had Rossi. -
Of course I do, I've said he's a canny player WITH potential. Ranger had nowt but potential he was completely unproven but had raw talent. Mitrovic has 8 goals in the Premier League, he could quite easily end the season with 10 goals which is a decent haul for a player in the Premier League let alone a young lad in his first season. I find it ridiculous how you are just writing off 8 Premier League goals as if it's nothing, how many do you expect the lad to score? 20? 15? those are the numbers of players like Kane and Lukaku, go and have a look how much they are supposedly worth. Where have I said he would automatically be the best? I've said he'd be good, which he will be. I've given you a name of a player that Mitrovic has outscored this season who scored 18 goals last season in the Championship, I'll give you another one, Daryl Murphy ex-mackem who scored 3 goals in 54 PL appearances for the Mackems scored 27 goals in the Championship last season. You are calling people ridiculous for suggesting a player who has scored 8 in 27 PL games will comfortably hit double figures in the Championship yet you are suggesting a relegation from the Championship next season is a possibility? Don't be fucking daft man, go and watch some Championship football please, it's a massive drop off. Comparing Mitrovic to Ranger and Bigi btw? Just being daft now, neither of them showed anywhere near what Mitrovic has in terms of immediate impact. As I say look at players like Cameron Jerome to see the drop off in the Championship to Premier League scorers, look at how many goals Michael Chopra scored in the Championship compared to him struggling to score half of what Mitrovic has in the Prem.
-
Do you know who Cameron Jerome is? Currently has 3 goals in 28 Premier League games this season, he got 18 last season in the Championship. Mitrovic at 21 is already far better than him, it's not wishful thinking it's just an understanding of how poor the Championship is and that Mitrovic is actually a canny player with a lot of potential. Discussing Perez is pointless as he wont be here, but if he was he would rip the Championship to pieces. Unless you genuinely think Peter Lovenkrands was a better player than Perez is you'd agree.

We'll lose this comfortably, Southampton were aggrieved about the loss to Leicester thinking they should have had 2 penalties so they'll be ready to make a statement against our team of total fucking losers. Pelle also does well against us and will probably get 2 as we lose 3-0, I expect Mitrovic to be the only one that looks like he gives a shite again. -
The Championship is fucking shite man, Carroll had scored 3 goals in 14 when we went down, Mitrovic has 8 in 27 in his first season in the country at 21 leading the line alone. He's going to go from playing Premier League defenders to playing Championship ones (at best) and League one level ones at worst. You keep saying we had a team when we went down but we didn't, we were a total fucking mess, it was probably stronger on paper than the team we have now and it was such a toxic team that they still went down but a team come out of it in what is a total shite league. We've also got a young lad who has been scoring for fun in League One and would probably get 10-15 goals if he played a full season alongside Mitrovic. If you genuinely think Mitrovic is a terrible player and wont do better in the Championship this is a pointless discussion. The lad has 8 goals in his first Premier League season, aged 20/21, up top alone, in one of the worst chance creating teams in the league, it's impressive that he has managed basically 1 in 3 ffs.

Aye, I think there's a fairly good chance it'll be Cathro. If not Cathro then aye it'll be some no mark that half of us forgot about half a decade ago, the hope would be someone like Moyes as Tooj brought up the other day but that isn't likely. A lot said at the time that if we go down Rafa will go and we'll see a return to the same ridiculous appointments that have seen us get a bunch of winners like McClaren, Carver, Pardew and Kinnear, and that's what I'd be comfortable assuming will be the case.
-
That's not the first time I've heard someone say he deserves an England spot this season. Shows how little work a lot of Journalists do, maybe the knight Ryder deserves more respect.... Nah.

Aye the fact is he gave Lee Charnley control to spend £80m, he also allowed Lee Charnley to appoint the manager and allowed Lee Charnley to preside over the debacle that was not firing McClaren until it was basically too late. That is precisely why the fucking cunt gets the blame, this is his second relegation now and he is the constant of both, he didn't learn from the first one. -

Colback will look good down there, he's a slightly below average Premier League player but down there he'll be canny. Dummett will be solid down there as he's okay defensively in the Prem. I think Townsend will stay purely because of his price tag, we paid 12m for him so I can't see Ashley letting him go for much below that and I can't see other teams paying it (likewise with Shelvey). I think Obertan will be good down there, maybe I was giving too much credit to Gouffran though. You could be right on Riviere but we'll have to wait and see with him as he'll be playing a lot of upper League one / lower championship defenders so he might do okay (not that I think he'll play much if we hold onto Mitro and play Armstrong). I expect we will sign some top Championship players similar to what we did last time, to pad the squad out, again I don't think it'll be pretty but I'm fairly confident that we'll get promoted. To Renton's point about Villa and the Mackems, I think Villa are a bit of a mess so it depends on their next move, if they appoint Pearson (or Moyes as Tooj mentioned) they will probably be a threat. Sunderland will lose Defoe and therefore any semblance of goal threat (aside from Borini if he stays although he's inconsistent), I also think there's a good chance Fat Sam will walk out just before they're mathematically relegated so he can still make his point that he has never been relegated. I think we'll be play-off spots at worst but we'll come top 2 imo, which is what I felt last time. -

I thought he had one more? I thought I'd read he had 18 months left in January, could have been another player mind. I'm assuming the post by Essembee was aimed at me? If so the players we have in the current squad that look hopeless now but will do well down there are ones like Taylor, Lascelles, Dummett, Colback, Townsend, Riviere (possibly, haven't seen enough of him to be fair), possibly Obertan and Gouffran, I'm not saying it'll be riveting stuff but I'm confident we'll come back up it's a shite league. -

We'll come straight back up, there's plenty players in the squad that look hopeless in the Prem and wont attract buyers but will do well in the Championship. We also have youth like Armstrong, Aarons, and Bigirimana who will also do well (Armstrong in particular imo). -
I'm not anywhere near as bothered as I was last time we went down, this has been coming for 3 seasons now and Ashley has really taken the least amount of action possible until this season where he finally allowed the club to spend some money. The spending spree was always grounded in his stupid fucking policies for the most part though, it focused on attacking midfield type players and a young striker when we clearly needed defenders and goalscorers, he also yet again neglected to bother appointing a proper manager and went for another cheap option. I'm really hoping this finally pushes him over the edge with the club and he makes sure we get back up then tries to sell the club, we're never going to see good football under this bloke. I think how dross we've been all season has helped the acceptance of it tbh, we've been in and around the bottom 3 basically all season so it's hard to feel depressed when it's all but guaranteed now. I think we'll be back up after a season down there.

And Henri Saivet! -
He did aye, albeit out of desperation but there is hope it's acknowledgement that his past way didn't work. Had this football lark all figured out about 4 years ago iirc, guess he's just been coasting since.

If there was any hope of Moyes I'd go for him. I'm really hoping Ashley learns, gets rid of Charnley and brings in a manager like Moyes and gives him control, I think it's probably a stretch though.
