He also said he'd never play in the Championship for QPR. Surprised he left Burnley though I thought he'd had a decent season for them, I didn't see any of their games though so maybe not, Andrew will probably know.

I was literally about to say the same thing, load of nonsense tbh. Do Lisbon even have much money? I know they weren't doing great financially somewhat recently. I also fail to see how playing in the Portuguese League is much better than playing in the Championship, I know they play in Europe but surely he could get a Premiership club over them.

Aye anytime a fan of another club goes on there and calls us cunts they're all lapping the other fans arse clean and are hell bent on trying to make some sort of connection. They did it when Keane went there and loaned a bunch of Man Utd's garbage, they starting kissing up to Man Utd trying to create some sort of connection, I've no idea why they do it. StoneColdStephenIreland hit the nail on the head, they're fucking no marks and are mostly known for their rivalry with us. They can keep saying that it's just us being arrogant when we say stuff like that but it's fucking true. If other fan bases hate us then it shows we create some reaction in them rather than that shit club that hates the Geordies, for instance I don't give a flying fuck about Norwich is that something for them to be proud of? Not really it's more because they're an irrelevance as a football club, that's what the mackems are.

Aye pretty much, if they were that into footy surely they would have been Red Bulls fans themselves 2 years ago since NYC FC didn't exist. . It's pathetic tbh, I've no idea why that is something these idiots are trying to make happen because it doesn't happen in other American sports where the away fans are mixed in with the home fans.

Aye another shit effort by Puma, trampy fucking brand though so it's bound to be shite. None of us will be buying it anyway so it doesn't really matter.

I wasn't talking about cutting players necessarily, it was more that he'll scale back on the transfer fees front which is what he did until we were back in trouble again. Although the fact we haven't been flogging players isn't evidence of Ashley's amazing desire to hang onto them, it's more the fact they've been utter shit by and large for three years now and nobody wants them.

I and others have thoroughly explained what was meant by cuts and you've just chosen to completely ignore it. Past history with Ashley has saw him not bother spending when he feels we are safe from relegation, stating that you think he'll now do otherwise is more like "unfounded claptrap" than us all saying he'll revert to type. HF has simply said that we wouldn't buy the type of striker you've advocated buying and you're bringing up a bloke we had on loan a few seasons ago, a bloke we sold 3-4 seasons ago and a guy that has been dogshit for 2 seasons now as what? evidence against that point? In that whole 12 month period argument you were using before the only striker we have bought is a 20 year old kid from a foreign league, one that everyone said has potential but saw it as ridiculous to expect him to come in and get all the goals we needed.

Perhaps, we could also say the same thing for the defence. We'd have had more of the ball with a better defence etc all which has already been discussed. For a good amount of games under McClaren we barely even had the ball so a decent striker wouldn't have done much. End of

It only took one of the best defensive coaches in the world, we didn't have a left back for a good amount of time man. We needed a striker but our defence was bare bones for most of the season, Anita ended up playing right back for a decent run of games.

It was! I never said we didn't need a striker as well but Defence was a massive priority, I've already explained why in another thread.

Didn't he lose a job for fighting as well? -
 Just biding their time. Now we've been relegated I think missing out on Benik Afobe is an even dafter move, ignoring the fact he may well have kept us in the league he'd have scored plenty in the Championship.

That's all on averages though, we haven't spent well with regularity it has been boom and bust type spending. If we had spent more when we came 5th we'd have probably fared better since then, instead he spent 8m on Anita and that was it until his arse nipped about relegation iirc.

 Aye it's canny funny, shame it means Man City are really good now but it's funny to see shit players like Goater act like they were top players. Similar to Pardew and his continental specs during the good times, "FA cup final manager lads all fanks to me... the nosedive in form since Xmas was your lots fault though". -

Why do you keep putting cuts in quotes? They happened man, as Gpirlo pointed out. When we had secured a safe position in the Premier League we quite clearly started scaling the spending back until the ownership began to panic about what has ended up happening. Until we are in a similar position of strength and keep spending I see no reason to doubt it wont happen again. The only thing Rafa can get is a promise though, so him staying is by no means any sort of proof that we'll be allowed to turn into a side that challenges for places higher up the table with any regularity. I'd like to trust him like you seemingly do but Ashley has done nothing whatsoever to convince me he deserves my trust, panic spending doesn't get rid of the doubt he wont not spend again if he feels the squad could survive another season.

Aye the funniest bit of the while Man City rapid ascent is when they wheel out ex-players like Shaun Goater and Paolo Wanchope, then act like they were top class players in their day because they played for Man City when in reality they were fucking dogshit and spent their careers scrapping relegation. -
Aye... What happened after we finished 5th? We didn't capitalize at all and we ended up skimping on buying players for a few windows, never really bothered replacing Cabaye other than Jack Colback on a free. The fact is nowadays in the PL you need to spend a lot to just stand still, Ashley refused to do so and we went backwards rapidly and he had to try and buy a bunch of players in the hope it could keep us up, it failed because he again had decided to take the cheap option in management as well as buying young lads rather than anything proven (another attempt at money making). I find it odd that you still trust and even seem to like Ashley.

Aye that's what I think will happen as well. Ashley knows he needs the team back in the Prem so he'll give Rafa whatever he wants to get them back there and to a strong position in it then he'll start to make his cuts again, Rafa will leave and we'll be back to scrapping the drop.
