  1. Aye the Mackems bought a few defenders in January which definitely helped them retain the ball and be stronger at the back. While CT is being all selective about how Rafa sorted the defence which 'proves' we didn't need to focus on it, we also scored in all except 2 games under Rafa including putting 5 past the joint best defence in the league (comfortably the best until we put 5 past them). I'm not saying we didn't need forwards but we also needed midfielders as well, just the defence was a massive priority in January and one that went ignored, even after being one of the worst in the league last season we bought 1 defender, we were again among the worst this year and we didn't buy any in January.
  2. Bit harsh Fish attacking Andrew out the blue, but he's right. Gpirlo is right in all, it's fair enough saying Rafa sorted the defence out but he had to play people out of position and hope they did a job, we also had to suffer abou 10 games with a make shift defence AND McClaren organizing it which is really what cost us, the fact Rafa some how had us still fighting so late on was astounding.
  3. Absolutely fantastic news! Allowed myself to think it was a real possibility when Pako got the Valencia job full time but still over the moon with this. As others say this is the best thing to happen to NUFC in years, just hope he's here for a long time and doesn't end up walking out after being messed about.
  4. That free kick by the way what on Earth was the keeper doing
  5. Perhaps, I've no idea why else he'd want to go there though.
  6. Makes more sense now cheers Andrew, I'd rather have a year in the PL than two in the SPL but I suppose he's starting to worry about the end of his career and probably trying to guarantee as much money as possible now.
  7. http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/where-would-you-like-us-to-realistically-finish-next-season.1234022/  And they say we're deluded! Multiple mentions of Leicester and regular "top 10 and a trip to Wembley will do me" type posts, the title of the thread says realistically so maybe it's too big a word for those oafs to understand.
  8. I reckon DK is going to get his Brienne wish soon with the way Tormund is looking at her. I hope the lass that had them oot from the play is in it a few more times, hell of a pair but it seemed like Arya might put paid to that the fucking psycho.
  9. He also said he'd never play in the Championship for QPR. Surprised he left Burnley though I thought he'd had a decent season for them, I didn't see any of their games though so maybe not, Andrew will probably know.
  10. I was literally about to say the same thing, load of nonsense tbh. Do Lisbon even have much money? I know they weren't doing great financially somewhat recently. I also fail to see how playing in the Portuguese League is much better than playing in the Championship, I know they play in Europe but surely he could get a Premiership club over them.
  11. Hope you had a good'un Ant
  12. Aye anytime a fan of another club goes on there and calls us cunts they're all lapping the other fans arse clean and are hell bent on trying to make some sort of connection. They did it when Keane went there and loaned a bunch of Man Utd's garbage, they starting kissing up to Man Utd trying to create some sort of connection, I've no idea why they do it. StoneColdStephenIreland hit the nail on the head, they're fucking no marks and are mostly known for their rivalry with us. They can keep saying that it's just us being arrogant when we say stuff like that but it's fucking true. If other fan bases hate us then it shows we create some reaction in them rather than that shit club that hates the Geordies, for instance I don't give a flying fuck about Norwich is that something for them to be proud of? Not really it's more because they're an irrelevance as a football club, that's what the mackems are.

Aye pretty much, if they were that into footy surely they would have been Red Bulls fans themselves 2 years ago since NYC FC didn't exist. . It's pathetic tbh, I've no idea why that is something these idiots are trying to make happen because it doesn't happen in other American sports where the away fans are mixed in with the home fans.
  14. Aye another shit effort by Puma, trampy fucking brand though so it's bound to be shite. None of us will be buying it anyway so it doesn't really matter.
  15. I wasn't talking about cutting players necessarily, it was more that he'll scale back on the transfer fees front which is what he did until we were back in trouble again. Although the fact we haven't been flogging players isn't evidence of Ashley's amazing desire to hang onto them, it's more the fact they've been utter shit by and large for three years now and nobody wants them.
  16. I and others have thoroughly explained what was meant by cuts and you've just chosen to completely ignore it. Past history with Ashley has saw him not bother spending when he feels we are safe from relegation, stating that you think he'll now do otherwise is more like "unfounded claptrap" than us all saying he'll revert to type. HF has simply said that we wouldn't buy the type of striker you've advocated buying and you're bringing up a bloke we had on loan a few seasons ago, a bloke we sold 3-4 seasons ago and a guy that has been dogshit for 2 seasons now as what? evidence against that point? In that whole 12 month period argument you were using before the only striker we have bought is a 20 year old kid from a foreign league, one that everyone said has potential but saw it as ridiculous to expect him to come in and get all the goals we needed.
  17. Perhaps, we could also say the same thing for the defence. We'd have had more of the ball with a better defence etc all which has already been discussed. For a good amount of games under McClaren we barely even had the ball so a decent striker wouldn't have done much. End of
  18. It only took one of the best defensive coaches in the world, we didn't have a left back for a good amount of time man. We needed a striker but our defence was bare bones for most of the season, Anita ended up playing right back for a decent run of games.
  19. It was! I never said we didn't need a striker as well but Defence was a massive priority, I've already explained why in another thread.
