That's really not far off how some of the mackems think, I saw a thing on Facebook of our first goal against Ipswich where from kick off every single Newcastle player touched the ball, no Ipswich player touched the ball, then Perez smacked in a quality volley and a daft mackem commented going "shit opposition, couldn't do it in the Premier League", without grasping why we are excited by goals like that, regardless of opposition we couldn't put more than 3 passes together a few months back now we're passing around teams and playing 20+ passing moves on the way to goals. There is an obvious step up for sure but the fact we're hammering teams shows we are clearly closer to the lower PL sides than we are to the upper Championship teams, I'd say they'll pipe down a bit after we batter Hull but they'll come up with some stupid excuse for why not winning a game in the PL is better than being top of the Championship, winning 3-0 every week, and being in a cup Semi final.

The funny bit is their line up had about 9 or so of their regulars in, so I genuinely think Moyes was giving this a go. Meanwhile Southampton put a bunch of bairns in, probably all had to rush home so they could get to sleep in time to be properly rested for school in the morning. Suppose that motivated the Southampton lads to avoid extra time.

Agree with all of that DK, I think Gayle would really excel alongside him. He can be a risk due to his aggressive style of play but sometimes players need that, I think part of the reason Rooney is so ineffective now is that managers have worked hard to take that aggression and passion out of his game that he had when he was younger. I think Diame finally made a good case for himself last night mind, I've been critical of him but he put on a good show. I do think that while he did operate just off Mitro he showed signs he'd be more effective in CM, some of his control when he dropped deep was good to see as he shielded the ball and took attention away from the CM's before passing to a wide open Hayden or Shelvey, then both of his goals came from longer range where he was arriving late and coming onto something like a CM would while his miss is more indicative of the positions he has been in and chances he has been missing playing off the striker.

We'd fucking batter them at the minute no doubt in my mind, they couldn't be more out of sorts and our lot have great chemistry and are in form. That's all before the fact that we have a better squad than them, they may argue that but utter crap like Donald Love, Paddy McNair, Rodwell, etc wouldn't get near our side.

I just looked up a Preston forum because of what you put about them thinking they were going to win at the weekend, fucking hell man, a fair few of them keep saying we're over-confident, while it's a possibility it's yet to be seen in the last 10 games or so, so I don't see why they suddenly expect a team to roll up and expect a win before getting beat. I think it's far more likely they're going to see a team of players consisting of lads who just saw their back ups win 6-0.

I agree, but it would just be nice to see. Especially as the mackems are currently 'pissing' themselves that we're all so excited about beating Preston reserves, so it would be nice to piss on their cheesy chips and pump a 'PL' side. I find it a bit odd they're somehow trying to make a 6-0 win by us into some weird point scoring thing, as if they wouldn't enjoy their rabble beating anyone's reserves at the minute.
