I stand corrected then. I had no idea he'd dropped off that much. As I say he'd really be back up to Defoe anyway, unless of course Moyes wanted to play two forwards that are closer to middle-age than their prime in a side that struggles to touch the ball.
-
Think that's pretty accurate, I'd agree on Borini (unless he means make a profit on those players?). I think the issue is what you highlighted in that would it really improve them, there's no good just having bodies in the door if you are losing 'quality'. If they got Keane I still don't see them playing 2 up top, I don't think Gibson in anyway improves who they have in CM. Jagielka is probably only going to be a really short term fix to cover suspensions etc as I'm not all that convinced he's a great deal better than what they already have (at 34 anyway).
-
That's much more the type of shite I'd expect them to buy. As I say this has probably caught them off guard a little and Moyes has probably been scouting knowing he had nowt to spend. Out of that lot Jagielka and Keane would probably be good, but as you short term, fixes, Keane is old but his movement is his strength and he'd get them goals but he'd cost a bomb in wages. That Gibson lad is a bit shit isn't he? So aye I'd expect them to get a player like that, was also at Everton when Moyes was there iirc. I hope you're right that it wont be enough as I think they thoroughly deserve relegation after a decade of doing nowt but staving it off.

I think whatever way you look at it it's a shit example of management. It's just cashing in on a player at the risk of the club tbh. They've sold one of their better players to a direct rival for survival in the last 5 days of a notoriously seller friendly transfer window. They'd argue he's only a left back and if they can bring in someone on loan like NJS is on about, who may be better defensively, then they could get McCarthy on loan (maybe pay a fee), and someone like Barrow (5m rumoured release clause) they might come out of it stronger. The issue is they've still allowed a rival to strengthen.
-
I don't think it was a choice out of 14m or PL survival like Defoe was. They probably see it as 14m that they would never had got in the summer so have cashed in because they're knackered. I can't see how it's anything but desperate cashing in, they've sold one of their better players to one of their closest rivals for survival. As Alex said they're going to get gouged wherever they go, everyone knows they're desperate and that they have 14m to spend (even though it's debatable that Moyes has that full amount).
-
We'll see but this is a terrible window to buy (the fact PvA cost 14m is further evidence) especially for a club as unattractive as Sunderland. Moyes has also bought badly so far at them, Love, Djilobodji, and McNair were about 14m in a more buyer friendly window iirc. I honestly think they've just sold him because they really need the money. A club that is in such a mess financially can't say no to 14m for a player they paid 2-3m (not sure on that mind) for. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they're caught off guard by this and now have to scramble. It's also worth noting that they now need a LB before they can even go about improving the side.

£1m less than is required to sign an average Championship striker. They'll buy some shite players to pad their shite squad out and prepare for mid table mediocrity in the Championship.

Exactly, I see there are Liverpool fans moaning about Klopp now as well, the bloke is doing a cracking job imo and he's the sort of manager that takes a while to build a side. -
I genuinely don't understand why them or the mackems care. Both teams are fucking shite, that's what matters more than some subjective thing like 'best fans'. I also don't understand why Leeds fans think they should be seen as the best, I spent a fair whack of time there and people generally cared more about Leeds Rhino's. It seems to be fans of sides like the Mackems and Leeds that give a shit about what other fan bases think of them, who gives a fuck? support your side, who gives a toss what Tarquin the Arsenal fan from Hemel Hempstead thinks about your fan base.

I hope they come 3rd, then lose to the 6th place team in the play-offs, then come 15th next season. Tramps.

For a bloke that spoke so much about government wasting money he is going to be spending a fair whack on inquiries that have very simple, and known, answers. Between the one you're on about and the inquiry into a link between Autism and vaccines that's money that would be being put to better use if he just hoyed it out of a window. I'm not even sure why this anti-vaccer movement is so driven, even if there was a link (which there absolutely is not, the bloke that linked it was stripped of his medical license back in the 1920's iirc) you have to ask yourself what the cost v gain is. We don't have horrific diseases like Polio in western countries anymore because we have this understanding of vaccines, so if for some impossible reason a small percentage of the population developed autism from it wouldn't that price be worth paying? Obviously we know there is no link whatsoever but it further shows what a fucking waste of time looking into it is when even if a link was found we'd likely carry on administering them unless of course we all want to be riddled with Polio, Mumps, German Measles etc. I honestly think the bloke is going to crack tbh, he is so thin skinned it's almost painful to watch how he clings onto these ridiculously petty things. I mean arguing about fucking crowd sizes when there is completely unbiased evidence that he's simply wrong, why pursue it? who fucking cares? It's as NJS says he's just a spoilt, petulant brat who is used to having everyone just tell him he's right, usually because they want his money or him to lend them a favour. He's now in a position where everything he does is going to have people telling him he is wrong, and he's a moron, I'm not sure how he is going to take that for 4 years.

True that was oscar worthy. When he went to crack the joke ffs.

I preferred Secret life of pets to Zootopia, I'm outraged now. Didn't see any of the others in that category. I've seen a patheticly low amount of films this year, normally I've seen most of the best film nominees but I've not even seen one this year. I blame the missus wanting to watch comedies or re-watching parks and rec, it's as outrageous as the Zootopia over Secret life of pets debacle (fwiw I enjoyed Zootopia as well), still haven't seen Whiplash ffs.

This tbh, he'd be okay as a loan but I don't see much point in buying as he'd need replaced if we go up.
-
A forward line of Keane and Defoe, the mackems love resurrecting strike partnerships about a decade past their prime as it was Cole and Yorke the last time ffs.
-
Can't say I've been impressed anytime I've watched him play, he has played at full back on a few occasions mind so maybe we could pack in playing Paul. The Chronicle seem to think it's a loan deal being offered but he had played 18 times this season for Swansea so I don't see why they'd loan out a bloke playing that regularly.

Class news, scary stuff for the family but it's great to see he's through the worst of it. -
I love that they lapped that comment up btw, what a bunch of whoppers.

Aye there's no requirement to make them public for Privately held companies. Iirc he has been using an NOL from one of his companies in the 1990's against any income he has brought in for tax purposes, as NJS says it's all legal but it's a shady thing to do especially as he used it to claim Clinton should have closed the loophole (as if the reason he took it was merely to highlight the problem) but there are reasons it exists one of which is to encourage loss making companies to stay open in the hope they can use those losses and recognize more after tax profits in future years, which he no doubt knew he was just being a ball bag. I agree with ewerk that he's trying to conceal any clues to what he's really worth, he's not worth anywhere near what he says he is and is clearly leveraged up to his shite hair.

It was similar to the season we came 5th, except better obviously. Mainly in that there were no bad injuries, a normally ropey bunch of defenders were brilliant, their goal scorer was in a mental purple patch and they had a central midfielder who was quality, their Ben Arfa was more consistent and everyone else was a little better but you could always see it was that type of one off season especially the way they scraped so many narrow wins 2nd half of the season. Not that many would have predicted this sort of drop off mind. -
I was saying to my lass that I guess Madonna has decided she's American again now. I was in and out the room while her speech was on but we turned it off when Madonna launched into a particularly ropey rendition of one of her songs.

Aye, Huth and Morgan were absolutely solid ffs they never really had any bad injuries, all the commentators focused on heaping praise on the painfully average (if that) Danny Drinkwater while Kante was unbelievable (still is) and teams couldn't figure out how to stop Mahrez or Vardy.
