True enough, as I say maybe I'm being harsh it just seems to have been a shite negotiation. Or as you imply we were never really in for him or McCarthy. I think Rafa probably knows he has enough to go up so wont fuss too much. I just think it would have been better to prepare the squad for going up next season rather than wait until the summer, if we'd have signed Townsend and McCarthy we would have a PL CM pairing and wings. Again though Ashley is probably happy to roll the dice and save himself 6 months of wages etc.

I might be being a bit harsh here but it's worrying that Charnley is so bad at negotiating. Our primary target was a bloke that was a bench warmer on a side threatened with relegation that seemingly were happy to sell as they could spend the cash, while we're heading for promotion and in a position where we're not really desperate. Somehow we're now in a position where we've signed no one and they're trying to negotiate signing him on the last day of the window where Palace are less likely to want to sell as they'll not have time to bring someone in. So from a position of relative strength we've ended up with Palace demanding more than they paid last window for a bloke that doesn't really start for them. Chuffed this bloke still has a job for us. Of course I could be being harsh and they really wanted to sign nobody, in which case he has done his job.

Seems he was actually without club, left Anzhi by mutual consent recently.

Obertan has signed for Wigan from Anzhi

Hogan going to Villa for 12m, so they got him and Hourihane. Still think we have enough to go up regardless but it would still be nice to get Townsend or McCarthy in.

Aye, Trumps actions lend credence to what the bloke was saying.

There was a bloke on the radio here the other day (on NPR) that has wrote a biography about Trump. His main point was that Trump sees his own view on matters as fact, he ignored everything to the contrary. He said this is why the crowd size thing was an issue to him, he saw what he perceived to be a large crowd from his vantage point and when pictures showed otherwise he didn't believe it. The bloke reckons he has always been this way, often he would remark that a building he owns was 68 floors when in fact it was 58 and even if corrected he would be adamant that it was 68 floors. Of course the bloke was no doubt on howking his book (I missed the start of the discussion) but it would be quite troubling if true, a President that takes his own gut feeling and first impressions over fact.

Absolutely, I just think he'd act a bit more predictably than this nutter.

Hopefully he does something that can get him impeached asap.

No point selling him tbh. We have even less reason to sell him if we are considering the Townsend Mbemba swap.

Bad dudes ffs.

He is exactly the type of bloke that would do that. Colbacks screamer count nose dived when he started playing for us compared to when he was against us.

Possibly but it's a fair whack to spend on a safety net for what was probably our strongest in depth position. We spent more on him than we did on improving CM, a position people have been pointing to for years. I hope you're right and the lad is shifted on as anytime he starts we're even shakier at the back.
-
Possibly but I'd have preferred Elliott to get game time. If we were weak in that position I think playing him to try and improve him would be a gamble we'd need to take but as it is we're fine in that spot so there's no point in putting a dodgy keeper in. I always thought he was an odd purchase anyway, we had Krul, Elliott, and Darlow who are all fine so I think the 6.5m could have been better spent, aye he could have proven to be better than all 3 but it wasn't a position we were in pressing need of improving.
-
Aye, playing Sels is completely pointless. The bloke is a shambles in goal, whether it's lack of ability or confidence (I don't think we've seen anything from him to say he is all that talented tbh) we don't need to risk it. We have Elliott who we know is better, and Darlow who has been far better and is of similar age. I get that we paid a fair whack for him but it's time to give up on him as we've seen nothing from him to think he's going to become better than Krul, Elliott or Darlow. I agree we're still perfectly on track for promotion. It's just frustrating to be dumped out a cup by lower league opposition.

What bothers me is they're saying he has been our primary target. If that is the case why has it took 4 weeks to put in a bid for him? It does seem like a token bid like you have mentioned. 20m is a bloated fee but I'd rather spend 20m on a player like McCarthy than 15m on Scott Hogan tbf.

Aye Leeds were hopeless, Sutton were the better side throughout.

Aye, he has even said they'd now prioritize Christian refugees while blocking Muslim ones. Absolutely absurd. They are going through these people's phones and facebook accounts to search for political opinions, and allegedly asking what they think of Trump. People are writing this off as something employers do to potential applicants and aren't seeing any issue with it.

That's what makes it all the more bizarre and concerning. It's from seven countries, and as Gloom says it has even included green card holders so it's completely fucking illegal. A federal judge has opposed it so I think it's now all pending again. It's something he has brought in to placate his racist following, that is what I find disturbing. It's not borne of any real (albeit racist and bizarre) hope to protect the country. Similar to the wall, it's a stunt. Very few illegal immigrants come into the country via running over the border, the vast majority come in on visas and just never leave. These orders are just hugely inconveniencing, racist, wastes of money.

They have to sensationalize what Bannon has said because people aren't seeing what Trump and his lot are doing. What Bannon and co are doing is very insidious, they're trying to create serious doubts in peoples minds as to what the media are saying. That's why they're fighting every single thing, from the crowd sizes, to the stuff about the wall, to the size of his hands. If they can create mis-trust over something as trivial as crowd sizes when it comes time for them to pass some awful legislation they can discredit the medias coverage of it and claim it as over the top fear mongering from the fake news. You can blame the media for sensationalizing things, creating issues that Trumps lot are now using, etc but the point still stands that what Trump and that are trying to do is pretty fucking scary. The only way a lot of people take in information now is if it is given via an attention grabbing headline, something you can again blame media people for but it still doesn't make what they are saying untrue, they just may be stretching the impact. Aye the abortion funding issue has been changing in and out depending on the administration but it has been around 8-9 years since it was the way it was now, a lot has changed and you would have hoped people would have advanced, you'd hope in 2017 we'd not be fighting over something like that. That is why they bring it up, it's backwards and shouldn't be an issue in 2017 but a bloke has been brought in with this backwards looking outlook and while he said all of this when he was surging to power they still need to make points of everything he does.

That's a shame. McCarthy and Shelvey would have been a good CM pairing.
-
I genuinely don't understand why he is still getting games. Would have been far better off giving Elliott game time.
-
We'll get promotion, it's just a bit worrying how little there is once you take out Shelvey, Ritchie, Yedlin and Gouff.
