Generic small time football blather thread 2015/16
Howay replied to The Fish's topic in Newcastle Forum
Aye I think my level of hatred for them two had me thinking it was more but those were the teams I was thinking of. Yeah I'd be more than happy with them 3 going down now and Rafa the Gaffa (as the mackems kept calling him at the end of last season, still don't get it) has us up as champs. -
Tbf that's the majority of games in the Championship. Brighton have regularly been pissed on for 80 minutes before bagging 2 late goals to win 2-1. We're a workmanlike side that's lacking much quality/creativity but we're good at grinding out wins. As long as we keep Shelvey on the pitch we'll be fine.

Aye agreed, I know they're struggling a bit but this is where they were when he took over and would perhaps have been the whole time without him. I've seen articles and comments asking when Vardy will get back to scoring loads, it's this sort of inflation of what some of these players are that has led to this sacking. Vardy only got 5 goals the season before they won the title, he has 5 already now so he's actually doing better than the last time they were in a similar position. Mahrez was always going to be marked tighter. I mean the way some pundits talked about Danny fucking Drinkwater last season was absurd, it was clear all along how brilliant Kante was and it's clear as day now that Drinkwater is back to being a below average PL player who mainly does 5 yard sideways and backwards passes. Their defence is Wes Morgan and Robert Huth ffs, did people honestly think these players had just suddenly become unbelievable players at 30 it was a big purple patch and Ranieri did a fantastic job managing it and keeping the season on the tracks. I'd say I hope they go down but there's too many cunts I'm wishing that on this season anyway. -
If we were 5 points behind people would be moaning about how far off we were, now we're 5 points clear (which is really like 6 because of GD) it's as if Huddersfield are about to catch us. I'm not worrying about us slipping up tbh, we're top because we've been the best side in the league so far. Huddersfield might slip up, in which case we could be 8 points clear, then if we beat them we're 11 points clear. I don't see how that is any less likely than us slipping up and then losing to Huddersfield. I think we'll grind out another win here against a side in poor form.

Iirc Toni Kroos is a massive fan of Robbie Williams.

I've heard from a few people that Lazaar has apparently been building up a bit and trying to adapt to the country, if there's any truth in that I think it's possible he was brought in with an eye on being our left back in the PL with Dummett tasked with playing the bulk of the games in the Championship so we weren't just hoying a young, foreign full back in at the deep end. If so I suppose that's a 'new' player in a way, if he is up to task I'd be more than happy with Yedlin and him at full back. I think if that was the case we could go out and spend good money on a centre back and have a capable enough defence for first season back. Then I think the left wing and 'number 10' roles would need looked at. So 3 quality players would do it imo. Obviously it's not what the fans really want as we'd see Colback and co still starting a fair number of games but I reckon Rafa could get survival with that (as well as having the Jan window to improve) then look to move up the table the following summer. Again it's all contingent on fat boy going along with it.
-
We really need to be a bit deeper/more assured at the back and have a bit more creativity in the side. The aim for first season back is pretty much survival and if we can be a bit more solid defensively and rely less on one player for creativity I'd be confident of that. Rafas always seems to get results even when he has some right clips in his team, just one look at some of the players in his Liverpool side shows that. I think he knows we need creativity and was clearly frustrated we didn't add any in the January window. From a personal stand point I'd love to see us get a CM or two so we don't have to witness Colback in the PL again.

Aye nightmare that tbh. -
Aye they love that. To be fair to them it is fairly miraculous that one of the tramps was able to save enough giro to get a trip over there. I'd be happy to see them relegated and stay down. There's no enjoyment from those games tbh, lose and it's like they've won the CL grown men crying etc, beat them and they turn into the mopiest fucking sods and aren't even fun to poke fun at "you still going on about that? It's been two days man". I hope they're losing to Burton And struggling in the bottom half this time next season.
-
It was Derby at one point in all, they were all getting excited that McClaren would knock us out the automatic spots as he went on a little run but that sharp ended. Honestly man for a support that were giving it the big one about how little they'd bother with us just a few months back they're paying pretty close attention to the form of mid table Championship sides. I guess without their completely against form wins over a shambolic Alan Pardew team to get them excited they've realized just how utter shit they are.
-
Another good, solid, unspectacular win. It's good that we're showing we are capable of grinding wins out recently as you really need that in this league. Always good to beat Villa and even better that the utter fucking cunt Lansbury fucked up on the line.
-
Aye that's fucking awful to carry on like that. Ignoring that awful point scoring attempt I fucking hate that type of argument as it makes no sense, if that was the case then why would anyone do anything other than raise money for things? There's a lot of really awful stuff going on every day so shouldn't people be raising money for all that stuff rather than ever doing anything else?
-
Do they want us to like them? I don't see the point in them thinking we should get over it unless it's for us to like them. Regardless of that incident I think they're utter boring cunts. It wasn't the banners themselves it was the fact that a fanbase, from a club that is one of the most likely you'd forget if you were asked to name the PL clubs before the embarrassment, I never was really arsed about had such venom towards NUFC. That is what people have a problem with imo, it's like some bloke you barely know in the office coming up to you and saying "I'm glad your wife left you, I think you're a cunt" a day after your wife walked out on you, you'd never like that bloke and from that point would always take pleasure in seeing misfortune come to him.
-
Isn't that rumour repeated every couple of years? I've definitely seen them bickering over it in the past.
-
Very true mate. I was in a foul mood earlier so think I just needed a bit of a rant and they're always an easy target to drone on about.
-
Christ man the level of obsession from them. I expect a "hope Villa beat the mags" type thing but to actually be looking into the table, upcoming fixtures, the form of nearby teams in the lower division (that they DO NOT CARE ABOUT as it's the 'lower leagues') is fucking sad. How many threads are they going to make along those lines? It was Derby that were going to send us crashing down the league recently that was going to be hilarious, that worked out really well... They are acting like 5 points is really close, that means they need to win 2 more than us and for us to lose 2 more than them over the remainder of the season, is it possible? of course it is but it's also predicated on nobody else slipping up either. I'm not saying 5 points is massive but it's not exactly a razor thin margin ffs. It could be an 8 point gap by Monday night, they've also just got themselves another game after forcing a replay in the cup with their thin squad. They should worry far more about their own situation ffs rather than looking at the outside possibility of us missing out on promotion.
-
Spot on, I remember a lot at the time definitely having similar sentiments. There was of course the abusive section but every fanbase has that ffs, sections of Man Utd's support will have given Ferguson grief over the years it doesn't mean Man Yoo fans can't hold him up as a club legend. Iirc a lot of people were frustrated with the disrespect Robson was being shown by sections of the playing staff and were questioning if he was up to dealing with it or if it was time for him to move upstairs to a DoF type role, the fact they sacked him and brought in Souness wasn't something the fans were demanding. Aye it's hilarious for people looking at where we are now and thinking the fan base was demanding too much then but we'd been flirting with the CL on and off for a considerable period of time at that point, and hindsight is always 20/20. He's a true club legend and was always well loved by the majority of the fan base, did some let their frustration turn a bit nasty? I'm sure it did, just like every manager on the planet has faced at one time or another but it definitely wasn't the majority. Again I've no knowledge or recollection of him being spat on by the fanbase during his tenure, I was always told he had bovril hoyed off him when he was England manager and had dropped Keegan but that was before my time. Not like the mackems to be completely wrong mind.
-
Honestly man it's fucking absurd the way they go on. Sir Bobby comes up a couple of times a year and without fail they crawl out their holes to scream hypocrisy, it's honestly like saying someone cannot show any sadness their father died because that person once was nasty to him. It speaks to the level of them lot that they wont just let NUFC fans show respect to a club legend.
-
I suppose they're just going to carry on doing stuff like that every time Sir Bobby comes up. I love when they start a thread like that acting as if it's all brand new information to them btw . "So it seems like the mags love Sir Bobby Robson, but didn't some of them give him abuse decades before he was managing them? Then some parts of the fan base gave him abuse and wanted him out? This is all brand new information to me and I'm sure it's never been used to point score ever before", another classy thing for them to point score over of course. Going by that sort of logic there can never be a complaint by any fan of Sunderland "football" club about a nonce because sections of their fan base gave strong vocal backing to a full on nonce. Oh and also I thought we were pretty clearly told at the end of last season that they'd never discuss NUFC since we weren't in the Premier League. Seems they're still talking about every little thing concerning Newcastle. If fans of a club wanting to pay any sort of tribute to a club legend is something that riles them up they really need to take stock of their lives.
-
It is aye, you can guarantee if there was an injury crisis at the club where he'd be our only hope that would be the time he'd be injured.
-
wish he'd stick to singing.
-
Is Colback ever injured? It always seems like players like him are bulletproof.
-
I'm just glad we now have a reason why Colback has been starting recently, rather than just being worried about Rafa's eyesight.
-
Anita is complete dog shit in all mind, maybe he doesn't make as many mistakes (mainly fouls) as Colback. It has honestly been so long since I've had the misfortune of seeing Anita play CM that I can't remember him being much more use than Colback there. I'd like Rafa to try a few options instead of just going for Colback but I reckon he'll just put fire crotch in there.
