Nowt to do with my age it's all to do with the clip of that Swanson tip. Bringing back 1900's problems. I do always try and eat some steak or chicken if I'm mortal so the first part is probably right.
-
Either way it's fucking lifting, you'd end up with trench foot if you carry on like that.
-
Could always try the Swanson method of a 12oz steak and putting on a pair of wet socks.
-
It's all perspective, often a good drink seems like a bad drink the next morning.
-
It was fucking hilarious that mind, giving it the big one that they won that and then acting like they just won it again after beating us which took one of the worst refereeing performances I've ever seen. Quick switch from being miles better than us to acting like minnows.
-
Just having a look at the league table and didn't realize how completely fucking shite Notts Forest were doing, in fact if it wasn't for that nightmarish display of refereeing that handed them a win over us they would be in the relegation zone (we'd have beaten them that day imo so they'd have 39 points and be a point behind Blackburn). No relevance really just sort of shows how much these incompetent refs can fuck teams over.

 Aye it's always the best when you have 5 seconds before a completely buckled looking Lee Ryder pops up going "aye well anuvva win there Chris, I reckon Rafa will have a few surprises for wuh in the transfer window". Cheers Ronnie Gill, I'll click play if I want to see that fucking bamp start gassing on rather than have him just randomly start droning on when I'm halfway down the page if I forget to tell the thing to stop. -

Aye it was fucking shocking eh, had historic losing streaks in the seasons leading up to it and only bothered trying to do anything about it at the last possible minute. -
There is a lot of dross. I was talking to a mate about this the other week and I was wondering if the way the top clubs are hoarding talent and youth is lowering the quality of the lower sides. Chelsea for instance have won the Uefa youth cup a couple of times in the last few years, Manchester City's academy is so good they're drawing kids away from everyone including Manchester United, then those kids are stifled by current superstars that those teams are paying 30m+ for. Meanwhile everyone else has to play Gosling, Colback, Rodwell, etc in midfield. With changes in rules they've even been hoovering up some of the usual mid-table level English players like Delph. Maybe I'm chatting shit here but when you have sides like Chelsea with squads deep enough that they can afford to loan a lad as talented as Christensen out, then decide he's finally good enough to bring back in the summer but are still targeting to buy a player like Ben Gibson it must be detrimental. There's rumours of Gibson to Chelsea, so if he goes there he'd barely start and instead of a side like us having him and playing him every match we'll have someone likely not as good in the role.

I think Fish is holding out hope for us to buy Gylfi if they go down. Unless he just has a random burning hatred for Swansea.

Exactly. -
Chuffed to bits with it, horrid club. I think they'll probably survive and then bring in that Silva if Hull go down.
-
I know what you're saying but they're all outfield players, the market isn't quite as mental for goalkeepers. Spurs would likely go abroad or get Butland (like you mentioned iirc) and then Stoke would probably try and get Begovic back or go abroad. Teams have money but I think they'd rather spend it on outfield positions. I'm just saying I don't think a lad who has let 35 goals in 21 starts is going to break the British leagues record for a GK signing, I get the market is mental and dross like Sissoko goes for well over asking but Sissoko plays in an overvalued position and had a Euro Championship final performance that for some reason was raved about, Pickford isn't getting that type of hype or exposure and plays in the only position that has up to now been exempt from this mental market.

While there is logic to that, we both know that isn't Charnley's thinking. You don't have to go round yelling that it's going to be 'disastrous' to get the point across either. My post was mainly targeting what the Chronicle was saying though, for me it was just further proof that they have been attached to Ashley's arsehole like that human centipede film. -
There's no way a side like Spurs would buy him man, overrating outfield players based off a European Championship final is one thing spunking a fortune on the goal keeper of the bottom side when you're 2nd in the league is another. Stoke would probably get Begovic back from Chelsea or something. He's not that good though, and 20m plus would be a British record for a goal keeper, I think De Gea holds the record and he was only about 18m and was touted as potentially one of the best goalkeepers in the world. I agree with KCG that 5-10m is far more likely, I don't know if they'll accept but I can't see someone paying a British record fee for a goal keeper from the worst side in the league. People tend to try and just fill the GK slot with the best and cheapest option, it's not usually the area big sides look to get English players in which is why players like Butland haven't been overrated price wise.

Aye Charnley can do his rip, the way he's 'getting his excuses in' is a bit worrying. I understand that we're bound to not have the same level of money coming in after relegation but the Chronicle discusses how we've missed out on the raised tv money of this season, but that shouldn't effect our accounts negatively as we never got that money the difference from the old tv money and the Championship money is what would impact us and aren't the parachute payments based off this years PL money? if so that would help and reduce the gap if anything, so while we've 'missed out' on that heightened income it has helped at least partially cover that hole. Of course if we're looking at the opportunity cost then aye we missed out on the heightened PL money, but that's exactly why every NUFC wanted Charnley gone. I understand Ashley is the root problem but Charnley's dithering over McClaren cost us big style and I still genuinely have no idea why Ashley is keeping him in that role, he seemingly had to step in and force Charnley to do it anyway so at that point why not just get rid of his role make the decisions directly. I understand he's a target but it's not like anyone is fooled and doesn't think Ashley is the cause of all this turmoil. -

The Chronicle man, do they even proofread? "The club’s turnover fell by three per cent from £125.8million to £129.7m " -
Pickford isn't actually that good though, surely they'd go after a good keeper if they were willing to spend big money on one especially after they tried to go the young prospect route with Karius already. He's getting so much attention because their goal is peppered every match, so if he saves most of them he's class and any mistakes he makes are written off as he's young and his defence is shite. Jack Butland went for about 3m a few years back, I know it's a few seasons ago and transfer fees have went up but Butland was by far a bigger potential prospect than Pickford (they're pretty much the same age in fact) and despite his injury set back Butland is clearly the better keeper imo. I'm not saying Pickford is shite, I just think he's being overrated to fuck by the mackems, and only really the mackems so I don't see a big bid coming in for him.
-
I agree that it'll be much more like that sort of fee than the 20m or more they all seem convinced of.
-
A lot of their talk about funds is constantly focused on getting loads of money for Pickford. The issue with that is keepers rarely move for those sorts of fees, how many clubs are desperately screaming out for a goalie? And is he even that good? They've been banging on like he's immense but from what I've seen of him he's just a canny young keeper, it's not like he looks like Donnarumma or De Gea (when he was that age) ffs.

Thank fuck we won after yet another completely ridiculous referee. Surely the ref has to think to himself if that was the rule why the fuck would any attacking player go near the box? If a free kick the other way was given any time there was encroachment barely any pens would result in a goal until attackers stopped trying to charge in. I'm not even giving the bloke any respect for "owning up" as it's easy to do when we went on to win the match despite his pathetic display. As I said earlier in the thread the bloke shouldn't be allowed to ref another game until he takes some sort of refresher course as he clearly has an issue with his knowledge of the rules. The most concerning part for me is what others have brought up, that he had a discussion with the other officials and was no doubt told it was a re-take not a free kick for Burton but pressed on with his ridiculous decision anyway. If you've never seen it before it's likely not a rule tbf. Anyway fuck the officiating in this shit league, thanks to Rafa and the lads we'll most likely not be seeing it next season. Good home win to put us back top, completely dominated the game by the look of the stats and going off what I heard 1st half (wasn't able to listen to the 2nd half, I'll no doubt watch if the club hoy the game up on their site). As people pointed out this one was bound to be narrow as Burton were always likely to spend 90 minutes lined up on their goal line, which is what they pretty much did. Roll on next match tbh.

Honestly he shouldn't referee another game until he passes some sort of re-qualification test if he doesn't know encroachment is just a re take.
