  1. While there is logic to that, we both know that isn't Charnley's thinking. You don't have to go round yelling that it's going to be 'disastrous' to get the point across either. My post was mainly targeting what the Chronicle was saying though, for me it was just further proof that they have been attached to Ashley's arsehole like that human centipede film.
  2. There's no way a side like Spurs would buy him man, overrating outfield players based off a European Championship final is one thing spunking a fortune on the goal keeper of the bottom side when you're 2nd in the league is another. Stoke would probably get Begovic back from Chelsea or something. He's not that good though, and 20m plus would be a British record for a goal keeper, I think De Gea holds the record and he was only about 18m and was touted as potentially one of the best goalkeepers in the world. I agree with KCG that 5-10m is far more likely, I don't know if they'll accept but I can't see someone paying a British record fee for a goal keeper from the worst side in the league. People tend to try and just fill the GK slot with the best and cheapest option, it's not usually the area big sides look to get English players in which is why players like Butland haven't been overrated price wise.
  3. Aye Charnley can do his rip, the way he's 'getting his excuses in' is a bit worrying. I understand that we're bound to not have the same level of money coming in after relegation but the Chronicle discusses how we've missed out on the raised tv money of this season, but that shouldn't effect our accounts negatively as we never got that money the difference from the old tv money and the Championship money is what would impact us and aren't the parachute payments based off this years PL money? if so that would help and reduce the gap if anything, so while we've 'missed out' on that heightened income it has helped at least partially cover that hole. Of course if we're looking at the opportunity cost then aye we missed out on the heightened PL money, but that's exactly why every NUFC wanted Charnley gone. I understand Ashley is the root problem but Charnley's dithering over McClaren cost us big style and I still genuinely have no idea why Ashley is keeping him in that role, he seemingly had to step in and force Charnley to do it anyway so at that point why not just get rid of his role make the decisions directly. I understand he's a target but it's not like anyone is fooled and doesn't think Ashley is the cause of all this turmoil.
  4. The Chronicle man, do they even proofread? "The club’s turnover fell by three per cent from £125.8million to £129.7m "
  5. Pickford isn't actually that good though, surely they'd go after a good keeper if they were willing to spend big money on one especially after they tried to go the young prospect route with Karius already. He's getting so much attention because their goal is peppered every match, so if he saves most of them he's class and any mistakes he makes are written off as he's young and his defence is shite. Jack Butland went for about 3m a few years back, I know it's a few seasons ago and transfer fees have went up but Butland was by far a bigger potential prospect than Pickford (they're pretty much the same age in fact) and despite his injury set back Butland is clearly the better keeper imo. I'm not saying Pickford is shite, I just think he's being overrated to fuck by the mackems, and only really the mackems so I don't see a big bid coming in for him.
  6. I agree that it'll be much more like that sort of fee than the 20m or more they all seem convinced of.
  7. A lot of their talk about funds is constantly focused on getting loads of money for Pickford. The issue with that is keepers rarely move for those sorts of fees, how many clubs are desperately screaming out for a goalie? And is he even that good? They've been banging on like he's immense but from what I've seen of him he's just a canny young keeper, it's not like he looks like Donnarumma or De Gea (when he was that age) ffs.
  8. Thank fuck we won after yet another completely ridiculous referee. Surely the ref has to think to himself if that was the rule why the fuck would any attacking player go near the box? If a free kick the other way was given any time there was encroachment barely any pens would result in a goal until attackers stopped trying to charge in. I'm not even giving the bloke any respect for "owning up" as it's easy to do when we went on to win the match despite his pathetic display. As I said earlier in the thread the bloke shouldn't be allowed to ref another game until he takes some sort of refresher course as he clearly has an issue with his knowledge of the rules. The most concerning part for me is what others have brought up, that he had a discussion with the other officials and was no doubt told it was a re-take not a free kick for Burton but pressed on with his ridiculous decision anyway. If you've never seen it before it's likely not a rule tbf. Anyway fuck the officiating in this shit league, thanks to Rafa and the lads we'll most likely not be seeing it next season. Good home win to put us back top, completely dominated the game by the look of the stats and going off what I heard 1st half (wasn't able to listen to the 2nd half, I'll no doubt watch if the club hoy the game up on their site). As people pointed out this one was bound to be narrow as Burton were always likely to spend 90 minutes lined up on their goal line, which is what they pretty much did. Roll on next match tbh.
  9. Honestly he shouldn't referee another game until he passes some sort of re-qualification test if he doesn't know encroachment is just a re take.
  10. Had enough of this fucking league man. It's pathetic.
  11. What on earth? Honestly man the referees are an utter fucking joke in this league.
  12. Pen, sounds like we're controlling it so far.
  13. He's going for the throat with that line-up imo. Good to see as it shows he really values winning the league imo. It also shows how Rafa is comfortable with changing his thinking depending on the opposition, unlike basically all of our recent management.
  14. Mbemba! Hopefully he has a good game as I think him and Clark could be a decent partnership next season (although I'd still like to see us buy a CB)
  15. Another thing you didn't get, the years and years of the Mackems being a complete yo-yo side. The only downside is they escaped the fucking howkings some of the Robson and Keegan teams would have given them due to their position in the 2nd division. It's okay though they'll be doon for the next 10 year of your life at least.
  16. It's also worth remembering money doesn't go a long way for the Mackems, they had to pay players ridiculous wages to attract them in the Premier League. Imagine the sort of shite they'll be struggling to attract next season. Stuff like this wont help attracting players: http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/04/05/patrick-van-aanholt-explains-how-he-forced-through-crystal-palac/ Their fanbase also seems to be very occupied with the quality of the Championship " I think quality of the championship is exceptionally poor this season in terms of the games I've watched, Brighton don't look great shakes either" they're forgetting that their team is utter hopeless as well but also that while the teams are full of cloggers it doesn't make beating them a cakewalk "As bad as we are in the Prem we would still beat your lot like" Comments like this show how little many of them understand about football, this type of thinking has been evident from them all season that simply because their team happens to be part of the Premier division it is better. Ridiculous logic, I hope they carry it into next season as they'll be in for a hell of a shock. Just noticed a new trend from them: this season is the worst ever quality wise ever for the Championship. Interesting that the maggie bastards got that sort of luck.
  17. You think? Aston Villa and Norwich spent more than that didn't they? Norwich had a far better squad than the mackems to start with as well. Take Defoe at that team (as he will be gone 100% despite some of their thoughts that he's Bradley's friend so he'll stay) and they'd be on about 8-11 points on track to be record breakers. Just had a look and Norwich didn't spend much, they had a far better squad though and were tipped for the title by basically every pundit because Neill knew the league better than Benitez .
  18. Aye I thought the same but it is getting absurd now. They should really be looking at the Championship and seeing it as a chance to regroup and build a new side, maybe a 2-4 year project (I'm not even convinced of this with how badly they're run), but giving it the "well the mags are worse than us so we'll bounce back too" is just ridiculous and embarrassing. They're currently one of the worst sides the Premier League has ever seen, but they were happy to completely write us off when we missed survival by 1 point...
  19. Why would any of us spend money to pay for a plane with a pathetic banner? Them getting relegated isn't an event for NUFC fans older than 18, I get that us going down is enough to make grown men on their side cry and hug their children but they're fucking losers. I expect this of them, since they last got promoted they've fought relegation every season bar about 2 of them (under Bruce and they fucking hated him because "he's a maggie cunt"). I'm hopeful that last season was the last time we'll encounter them in the league for a long long time, hopefully they fade into battlers in the Championship and below like Sheffield United etc.
  20. That Sunderland team is complete and utter fucking shite. There are a considerable amount on their forum that think they'll be up first time of asking, there's no way like. Take Defoe out of that side and they have no threat at all, they're pathetic going forward. Both their centre backs were 8 yards away from Vardy when the ball come to him for his goal and he was the only Leicester player near them.
  21. Kone's 'defending' there man  He is complete and utter toss. They'll end up getting nowt for him when he walks at the end of however long they gave him on his contract.
  22. Nice of Birmingham to open up and actually attack them, after sitting in their box for the two league games against us .
  23. Just when you think the opposition players couldn't try any less the mackem players show a new found resolve to perform even worse.
  24. Is that the one the head coach has been arrested for match fixing?
