  1. Proper route one stuff from Brighton there. I'm not whinging just pointing out that 'functional football' is what's going to get them over the line.
  2. Aye, they're the same points off it as Huddersfield are off us. Well were before they got battered today. Danny Batth going off, Mike Williamson on from the looks of things so Brighton will win 5-0 here.
  3. Aye that's it where as Huddersfield still play two play-off chasers in the next two games (Derby and Fulham).
  4. Aye we still play Cardiff, Barnsley, Ipswich, and Preston after Leeds, if we manage to lose what is effectively an 8 point gap over Huddersfield during that run then we'd fully deserve to drop out of the automatic spots. As Quiff says 9 points from that cements it even if Huddersfield win all their remaining games, which they wont.
  5. Huddersfield have been spawny as fuck when it comes to refs all season, in contrast we've barely had a fucking penalty given and even one that was given we had taken away for a made up rule and we had a game where two players were sent off (2 pens given against) and BOTH were overturned. I'm not arsed at all about Huddersfield tbh, that puts them 7 points behind us on same games played? so if we win 3 of our last 5 we're up regardless of what they do, if we can't win 3 more games this season that's poor.
  6. Them and Brighton have been getting decisions like that all season.
  7. Would be like listening to the grass grow that match, Huddersfield are fucking wank. Aal fart and nee shite.
  8. I thought the Ronny Gill article said he's entering his last year in the summer? Either way I'd be pleasantly surprised if we managed to get him, Rafa has the pull and Shawcross would be a massive boost to our defence.
  9. He's a quality no nonsense CB, would be excellent for us but I'm not sure Stoke would let him go without a fight plus I'm sure if he was available there'd be a fair few sides in for him.
  10. Aye probably wasn't the right word, I should have said absolutely.
  11. I'd probably have him over Anita to be fair. He was average but I suppose he was PL average which is what I think Fish was meaning.
  12. That corner and free kick routine btw, it must have been one of the most persistent uses of a failing tactic in professional football. I think you're right though, you could see the change instantly any time Cabaye left the pitch. You can't even say the other players weren't capable of playing that way as they were doing fine in strings of passing that didn't even include him when he was on the pitch but as soon as he went off they started just lumping it up.
  13. Aye I didn't think you were I just always like a good pop at Pards.
  14. Not sure, have we always paid up front for players? as it increased by about 26m from 2015 to 2016, so perhaps he relaxed the rules a little when bringing in Wijnaldum and co? That's all I could think it could be since they are saying it is relating to payables on player registrations. That amount is only to creditors due in the next year as well, there's also 9.8m (up from 3.2m in 2015) in payables for player registrations due past one year. With it being something that even existed in at least one prior year I'd assume the club had relaxed the rules on all the money being paid up front.
  15. It'd only be interesting because they'd be a disaster. I don't think it's a coincidence that Pardew struggled to manage the more talented players in his squads (Ben Arfa, Tevez, Mascherano) and favoured their far inferior team mates over them (Obertan, Carlton Cole, Nigel Reo-Coker), he was fine with Cabaye but I honestly don't think he did much coaching of Cabaye it showed as when Cabaye left the line-up the team played a completely different style of football. I get what you're saying about Moyes and Van Gaal but Moyes took over a title winning side and spent a good whack of money on some questionable players, the side itself was also sort of falling apart which is why I think Ferguson got out when he did. Though to be fair I think by that point Van Gaal had started to get too into his own theories on tactics and his Man Utd side seemed to have a crippling fear of risking the ball to such a point that they'd pass the ball backwards at the slightest hint of pressure.
  16. Aye they both seem to be of the mindset that they would get more respect if they were foreign, when in actual fact they are generally over rated simply because they're English. There is absolutely no way Pardew would still have a career in this country if he was foreign, the failure at Southampton in League one would have been the end of it there's no way he'd have walked into a PL job after that.
  17. Aye I agree, he seemed fairly unhappy with transfers and money available. I reckon he'd have been angling to get away as he knew it was always going to be an uphill battle to keep them up, he barely kept them up with the squad he had and there were a fair amount of loans plus a paedo in that one.
  18. Describing Sissoko leaving as: "The much anticipated departure" is class btw As far as the club sort of announcing it I assume it was in the notes? I've not had much experience with IFRS but under U.S. GAAP you do have to make statements regarding major events that will impact the financial statements in the months following the close of accounts and I assume 40m is material enough to demand disclosure. Also I wouldn't take it as any intention to spend loads as they've also noted that the next accounts will show a spend due to the transfers out being payments over a number of years (again I'm fairly sure all of this has to be disclosed so wouldn't read too much into it).
  19. Aye, I'd imagine he knows full well he'd have a far harder season playing for NUFC than he would at Man Utd and he'd be seen as the star of the team with the pressure and responsibility of that. No doubt he'd have been up for it years ago but I can't really blame him for being at the point where he's ready to either retire, have another season at Man Utd or get a big pay day abroad. Once he signed for Man Utd that was it for any chance of us realistically getting him, unless he'd flopped when he went there.
  20. Aye, I wonder what was said to cause that reaction. It seemed like they were having a fairly innocuous conversation until that lad swung at him .
  21. Aye they're not but as you say it's more the fact he has them all going on those sorts of runs and the mackems getting 13 points from 18 . It's fucking brilliant they're going down and it's about fucking time tbh. It's actually been a good laugh reading some of their stuff today, they have a thread where they are pondering if Bas Dost would be worth going for, a lad playing at Sporting Lisbon and is getting almost a goal a game there will definitely jump at the chance to go there . They're also thinking if Mooy would be good for them, again I don't think it's much of a logical jump to think he'll be playing in the PL next season as when he goes back to Man City I'm fairly sure there will be PL sides willing to give him a chance off the back of this season (Tammy Abraham falls into this category too imo). So it's nice to see they're setting their expectations nice and high ahead of what will likely be a miserable transfer window for them.
  22. Aye it's canny funny tbh. I think the lad is pissing about to be fair to him but it is hilarious that they are so shite the only way they'd have a shot at staying up is if Boro and Swansea get 2 draws and lose the rest, while Hull win 1 and lose the rest. I hope they go the rest of the season without scoring now, be brilliant hearing their "we'll walk that league marra" predictions when they had a side that hadn't scored in their last 11 or something fixtures. Having a look at his later posts I'm not sure he's taking the piss, he seems to be trying to show that there are possibilities that they could stay up but that he thinks they'd never happen, seems a bit moot considering there will always be possibilities that they can stop up until they are mathematically relegated though...
  23. I think the "we're getting promoted" lot aren't aimed at people like you Wykiki, it's aimed at the people that have been pissing and moaning all season win, lose, or draw. I didn't mean to sound like I was having a pop at you, I get your frustration as the team were shit for most the game yesterday at least until Shelvey dragged a decent finish of the game out of them. As you say we're a bit of a scalp down here, the reaction from the Wednesday fans showed as much and teams play is far different to other sides which has lead to some labouring performances. My worry is more funds in the summer than current performances as I highly doubt players like Gouffran will be around. Sorry if I came off as grumpy, bit of a shit day. My worry with Gayle is what I think you mentioned before, it's if he's going to be up to leading the line of a PL side for a season. The way he has broken down a couple of times this season is a little worrying.
  24. Missing my point but never mind. I'd say this is more of a silly comment about Gayle than the point I was making about when we play Leeds, the lad has been having a hamstring issue it's fuck all to do with fight and balls.
