  1. It'd only be interesting because they'd be a disaster. I don't think it's a coincidence that Pardew struggled to manage the more talented players in his squads (Ben Arfa, Tevez, Mascherano) and favoured their far inferior team mates over them (Obertan, Carlton Cole, Nigel Reo-Coker), he was fine with Cabaye but I honestly don't think he did much coaching of Cabaye it showed as when Cabaye left the line-up the team played a completely different style of football. I get what you're saying about Moyes and Van Gaal but Moyes took over a title winning side and spent a good whack of money on some questionable players, the side itself was also sort of falling apart which is why I think Ferguson got out when he did. Though to be fair I think by that point Van Gaal had started to get too into his own theories on tactics and his Man Utd side seemed to have a crippling fear of risking the ball to such a point that they'd pass the ball backwards at the slightest hint of pressure.
  2. Aye they both seem to be of the mindset that they would get more respect if they were foreign, when in actual fact they are generally over rated simply because they're English. There is absolutely no way Pardew would still have a career in this country if he was foreign, the failure at Southampton in League one would have been the end of it there's no way he'd have walked into a PL job after that.
  3. Aye I agree, he seemed fairly unhappy with transfers and money available. I reckon he'd have been angling to get away as he knew it was always going to be an uphill battle to keep them up, he barely kept them up with the squad he had and there were a fair amount of loans plus a paedo in that one.
  4. Describing Sissoko leaving as: "The much anticipated departure" is class btw As far as the club sort of announcing it I assume it was in the notes? I've not had much experience with IFRS but under U.S. GAAP you do have to make statements regarding major events that will impact the financial statements in the months following the close of accounts and I assume 40m is material enough to demand disclosure. Also I wouldn't take it as any intention to spend loads as they've also noted that the next accounts will show a spend due to the transfers out being payments over a number of years (again I'm fairly sure all of this has to be disclosed so wouldn't read too much into it).
  5. Aye, I'd imagine he knows full well he'd have a far harder season playing for NUFC than he would at Man Utd and he'd be seen as the star of the team with the pressure and responsibility of that. No doubt he'd have been up for it years ago but I can't really blame him for being at the point where he's ready to either retire, have another season at Man Utd or get a big pay day abroad. Once he signed for Man Utd that was it for any chance of us realistically getting him, unless he'd flopped when he went there.
  6. Aye, I wonder what was said to cause that reaction. It seemed like they were having a fairly innocuous conversation until that lad swung at him .
  7. Aye they're not but as you say it's more the fact he has them all going on those sorts of runs and the mackems getting 13 points from 18 . It's fucking brilliant they're going down and it's about fucking time tbh. It's actually been a good laugh reading some of their stuff today, they have a thread where they are pondering if Bas Dost would be worth going for, a lad playing at Sporting Lisbon and is getting almost a goal a game there will definitely jump at the chance to go there . They're also thinking if Mooy would be good for them, again I don't think it's much of a logical jump to think he'll be playing in the PL next season as when he goes back to Man City I'm fairly sure there will be PL sides willing to give him a chance off the back of this season (Tammy Abraham falls into this category too imo). So it's nice to see they're setting their expectations nice and high ahead of what will likely be a miserable transfer window for them.
  8. Aye it's canny funny tbh. I think the lad is pissing about to be fair to him but it is hilarious that they are so shite the only way they'd have a shot at staying up is if Boro and Swansea get 2 draws and lose the rest, while Hull win 1 and lose the rest. I hope they go the rest of the season without scoring now, be brilliant hearing their "we'll walk that league marra" predictions when they had a side that hadn't scored in their last 11 or something fixtures. Having a look at his later posts I'm not sure he's taking the piss, he seems to be trying to show that there are possibilities that they could stay up but that he thinks they'd never happen, seems a bit moot considering there will always be possibilities that they can stop up until they are mathematically relegated though...
  9. I think the "we're getting promoted" lot aren't aimed at people like you Wykiki, it's aimed at the people that have been pissing and moaning all season win, lose, or draw. I didn't mean to sound like I was having a pop at you, I get your frustration as the team were shit for most the game yesterday at least until Shelvey dragged a decent finish of the game out of them. As you say we're a bit of a scalp down here, the reaction from the Wednesday fans showed as much and teams play is far different to other sides which has lead to some labouring performances. My worry is more funds in the summer than current performances as I highly doubt players like Gouffran will be around. Sorry if I came off as grumpy, bit of a shit day. My worry with Gayle is what I think you mentioned before, it's if he's going to be up to leading the line of a PL side for a season. The way he has broken down a couple of times this season is a little worrying.
  10. Missing my point but never mind. I'd say this is more of a silly comment about Gayle than the point I was making about when we play Leeds, the lad has been having a hamstring issue it's fuck all to do with fight and balls.
  11. I see Luke Shaw got hauled off again, probably taking another hiding off Jose at full time. Jose is a right cunt, I used to have time for him when he was at Chelsea the first time but he's a right twisty cunt now.
  12. I still think it was a lack of grit and determination, when they started applying themselves (after the Jonjo goal) we were in full control of the match. I think those have been the players most of the season, players like Lascelles were always going to be risky project imo as a lot of his faults are very hard to fix. We do have a lot of cloggers in the squad but it was the exact same last time we went up, we had players like Fitz Hall, Marlon Harewood, etc in the team, that's just part of having a squad big enough to do the job down here. The summer is a big question obviously and that's the only thing I'm nervous about.
  13. What happens if we batter Leeds, will these same players be class? No because we know full well most of them are poor players, the people on Twitter are rightly trying to go against an over reaction to the result like Noelies. We're 10 points clear of Huddersfield, even if we lose all our remaining games they will need to win 4 out of 6, that's how big the margin is man. We know we need an improvement in the summer but there's no point whining on now, players like Anita, Gouff etc will more than likely be gone. Teams have off games and as usual it's been jumped on by some as if it's an example of some over arching theme that we are utter shite. We have won as many games as 4 out of the last 5 champions with 5 left to play, we are a team with a top manager and a few classy players with a good heap of average championship talent but we're far from poor and we're far from being at a stage where worrying about automatic promotion is anything but bed wetting. It's also worth remembering the team are shattered by this point. Liverpool started Coutinho and Firminho on the bench today because they were too tired to start, our lot have played more games than them.
  14. They were the "better side" on Boxing Day but to be fair anytime any of our lot crossed the half way line they got fucking leveled and the ref never bothered booking for it until the 80th minute. That CB Hutchinson must have committed about 8 fouls alone.
  15. Very disappointed with the players today, let the same tactics beat us both games against these and then their heads dropped. Shelvey kept driving and after we scored it was as if they remembered they're better than Sheffield but it was too late really. Ah well still a massive gap over 3rd place, players showed a bit of lack of desire today and it'll likely cost them the title if they keep this up but not an auto spot.
  16. Aye bunch of softies were utterly shitting it after we scored in all. All 12 of them acting like they've won the league now.
  17. Gouffran is incapable of not grabbing people, I've never seen a player risk so many fouls by pointlessly grabbing opponents.
  18. Get in Jonjo, he fully deserved a goal today. Good control and attempt by Mitro as well.
  19. The fucking state of Bannan there ffs, he's so fucking shite. Horrible little cunt.
  20. He'll still be spectacularly wrong though. Chelsea got battered the other game by Crystal Palace but they're still likely to win the league same as we're likely to get promoted. It's not Rafas fault he has to play some of these players.
  21. Dummett there ffs, the control on his chest almost went out of play after his first touch 10 yards inside the pitch, then he kicking it along the ground right to a Sheffield player which lead to another good chance for them. Major upgrade there next season, the amount of times he costs us possession per game is unreal.
  22. Top marks to Shelvey by the way. The bloke is the only one trying today, if the rest would follow his example we'd be a hell of a lot better today.
  23. I must say I've no idea what game this ref is watching. Lets them get away with a foul and then 30 seconds later gives them a free kick for an identical foul. Done that numerous times today. I get this "it's a rougher league" shite but they've been short pulling all day the fucking tarts.
  24. Lack of desire today from our lot, Sheffield have wanted it more. Gouffran has been wank, Anita has looked more like himself after playing well the other game and Lascelles is constantly proving we need to buy a CB.
