We looked fucking hopeless in the first two matches last season, so hopefully we can pick it up from here like we did then. We do look like we lack quality mind.
-
Diame is a joke like.
-
Diame I don't understand why Murphy isn't being used.
-
To be fair Joselu has looked lively since coming on.
-
Perez clearly onside
-
Unfair yellow that, entitled to go for it. He was late but they've had 3 or 4 challenges like that on players go unpunished. I'd like to see Murphy play, why spend £12m on him and then never bother with him, it's not like Ritchie and Atsu have done much today.
-
Shite. Utter shite. Time to wake up and spend a bit as this lot look so sluggish.
-
I agreed with your original point btw. As much as I like and root for Gayle I think it's clear, as you say, that we're not strong enough elsewhere to have him be the lone man up top. I'm still hoping we can loan Wilshere, I know he is a bit paper mache in all but he'd be far better in the number 10 role than what we have.
-
It's hard playing with a lone striker that is just a poacher unless you have a strong midfield imo. The ball never sticks up front as we have a poacher in Gayle and then a near non-existent number 10. It's about the only reason I'm not against a loan move for Carroll as at least he can hang onto the ball for a bit.

Very frustrating half that, Huddersfield look as shite as I thought they would despite the commentator acting like they've been the better side they've had no chances. Our lot look like they're playing a training game after a night on the piss, very casual and sloppy in possession all over the park.
-
Knew we'd be the first side with a player booked despite Huddersfield being by far the dirtier side
-
Another two late challenges, still no card shown.
-
Yet another bad challenge from Huddersfield without a card ffs.
-
What the fuck are our lot up to? They look so sloppy and casual in possession.
-
Mbemba doesn't look comfortable at left back, he seems to keep drifting inside giving the winger a lot of room. Unless he's being told to do that it might be better switching him and Clark.
-
It's brilliant that Colback isn't even on the bench. Wonder what's up with De Jong, he seemed to feature a fair bit in pre season but he hasn't even made the bench for either of the first two games.
-
That episode was fucking brilliant.
-
Can't say I know much about this lad, his goal record is a bit naff but Rafa seems to rate him so thats a plus. I was underwhelmed with Clark and Atsu as their prior records were also a bit naff, but both have proven canny so far. Of course there have been a few whiffs such as Lazaar but I'm trying to see the positives in this one.

It looked like he was struggling to put any weight on it before he went off down the tunnel. Its frustrating that Kane will face no punishment for what was a terrible and malicious tackle. It's going to be a massive blow if Lejeune has broke his foot. -

Agreed, I'm also happier to place more blame on Shelvey than the defenders as that pass would have been harder to make if there was another Newcastle player helping in the area of the pitch it came from... -

Aye I saw a fair amount of positives today. This one was always going to be an uphill battle but I thought our lot did well at the back and thought it was somewhat even until Shelvey decided to be a total fucking bellend. Their first goal was quality, we can blame the defenders for missing Alli but his movement was class in the build up. I was really hoping we'd get a goal when our lot had that spell just for the confidence if anything, Merino looked a touch of class in his 20 minutes and the rest of the side seemed to play with a bit more expansive play after he came on which was good to see. Manquillo had a good game which was nice to see, Lejeune looks like a player so hopefully he's not badly hurt. It'd be class if this Merino lad had a quality 3 games in dickheads absence so we don't have to depend on Shelvey anymore, he's proven he'll never fucking learn today and the worst bit was Alli had barely even done anything other than petulantly kick the ball away, if that's all it takes then we're fucked . Oh aye, also Atsu had a good game. No idea how Kyle Walker #2 was given man of the match, he was lucky offside was given against Gayle as he gave away a stone wall pen, he looked weak as piss all match as Atsu manhandled him. The lad might be decent but I thought Eriksen and Alli were head and shoulders above the rest today. -

Aye, I feel Merino does well I hope Rafa is fair and doesn't just sling Shelvey back in the side. -

Aye, Manquillo is quietly having a solid game. Really hope Lejeune is ok, I think Dummett will be out for a couple games mind as it looked like a hammy. Happy with the first half, clearly we were frustrating Spurs. Robbie Earle commented that "if that tackle was Jonjo Shelvey on Kane we would have been talking about a red card" and he's spot on imo, if Lejeunes leg had been planted it could have been broken.
