Salami's sausage-shaking survival specialists V Southampton

Do we still have Selz as well? If so he’s the first I’d flog as he’s absolutely shite, after that probably Darlow then keep Dubravka, Elliott and Woodman. -

Agreed. His command of the area is what separates him from the others imo, he’s so confident and decisive when he’s comes off his line to claim crosses. Think 4m would be a bit of a steal for him. -
Fair points, think West Ham is probably a definite for me. I probably agree with the Stoke choice as well. Plus if Palace keep Roy there’s no hope of them doing anything in the future. I know there’s still a chance of us going down but it gives me hope that those around us are having melt downs while our group is close knit and hard working. We also put in decent performances more often than not, it usually comes down to us lacking the quality to kill games off.

I also love that our lot are going to Spain for training and there’s no danger of any bollocks like that going on.

Genuinely hard to pick who I’d like to see go down with such lovable sides like Stoke, West Ham, and Palace fighting the drop. Hard to pick two out of them since Alan Pardews barmy army looks a safe bet to go down.
-
It was quality watching that fat twat try and plant the corner flag in the centre circle while the players just stood yelling at him and holding their arms out as not even the stewards could be arsed to stop him.
-
Agreed, we always get the deluded tag but fan bases like West Ham are far worse. For a side that have been nothing more than relegation bait for the entire PL era they have extremely bloated expectations. I always enjoy seeing them go back down, trampy and horrible club.

Cracking day for us. Results went our way and we clinically put a dreadful Southampton away without expending loads of effort and energy, so 3 weeks to plan and recover before Huddersfield. -

Why would you try and challenge Yedlin for pace 40 seconds into the half -

Aye, it’s great to see a player that has real flair and makes his mind up early. Hopefully we can get him permanently from Chelsea. -

Strong first half that, hope we can maintain this. Southampton look devoid of any sort of confidence which is nice to see. Kenedy is getting better by the game. -

This Southampton back four are a mess, look like they’re already arguing amongst themselves. Hope we can rack up a bit of a score here to get a nice confidence boost ahead of the 3 week break. -

Good decision making there by Gayle as well, just when I was about to say he so often gets caught in two minds about what he wants to do -

Good confident start, Shelvey just pinging balls over the top. Shame Gayle couldn’t get that one under control in time to make it 2. -
Agree that it’s an odd move, no idea what’s gained from announcing it unless it’s ticket renewal time and they’re making sure people know why they are being moved. At least that mob of pigeons will be able to nest there in peace though. Grim place.
-
Aye that’s it like, it’ll have been steady investment over a long period to get them to where they are, without instant pay outs so he’d have likely abandoned it (pretty sure there was at least a planned investment at some point which was either not followed through or wasn’t continued to be built upon). I also agree the personnel is an issue, our youth staff have basically been Steve Stone and Peter Beardsley for a good period of our recent history. I know we have a scouting system in place for youth throughout Europe (brother in laws father is a scout) but I’ve no idea to what extent they were listened to in the past or how much has changed since Rafa took over (they do seem to look on the continent more mind). As you’ve mentioned though you’d think it’d be something that would really interest him especially with his reluctance to pay transfer fees.
-
I think that hits the nail on the head tbh. The club has definitely been plagued by short term thinking during his ownership, the “gambling” of going into seasons under strength and then panic buying in January if need be goes along with that imo. It is just something that always seemed like a no brainer, for a relatively small investment there’s so much potential for profit and first team improvement. It doesn’t have to be to the extent of Man City or Chelsea to pay off, I don’t imagine Southampton’s youth set up cost loads when compared to transfer fees.
-
Agreed, the disinterest Ashley shows in the youth set up has always been odd especially considering the amount we made on Carroll. Fwiw I think it’s good to finally see a coaching staff that are actually planning and looking ahead to next season rather than trot out some bollocks about how we have to wait until our fate is certain as we’ve seen in the past.
-
Exactly. Aye I agree, it’s all looking good. I’d just like if some of the other shitters could start seperating a bit from them. In a way though it’s class that they could go down when the bar is so low to stay up.
-
They’re also doing their typical thing of just curling up into a ball and acting like anyone who laughs at them is obsessed. They done similar after we smacked them 4-1 at the rubbish tip, a few days later they were saying “you still talking about that”. I think it’s also difficult to fully enjoy it until we are out of our relegation fight.

Remember Uncal Mick ffs, wonder if he’s made another midnight trip to hold signs outside of SJP this season. -
Aye it’s fucking brilliant. What a tragic group they are, the fact there’s any chance they might survive is unreal given how unbelievably shite they have been. I agree with zerosum though they’re a fucking mess.

Good pro by all accounts, leave behind a young family. Fucking gutted tbh. Glad to see serie A postponed their fixtures, quality touch. Awful fucking news.
