Even if they were both tired subbing both off at the same time was brutal

The only upside is we have these two games out the way, both teams seem to have our numbers and even though we’ve got closer to beating both in recent games we can’t seem to manage it.

I do agree many were poor today, Bruno for example dropped a number of clangers one which ultimately led to the winner. I agree it isn’t about single players, but Almiron is letting us down a ton and as I mention it’s been this way for most of 2023. I disagree he was decent even outside of his poor shooting, there were numerous times he was in good positions with the ball and completely fucked the pass up, his over hit pass to Longstaff who had broke down the right and the time he was clear in behind the Liverpool line in the first half and ultimately didn’t even manage to create a half chance. As I say he’s not the only reason for the result today but the way he consistently ruins our attacking moves is really becoming an issue, it made our CL push tighter than it needed to be last season at the end, and it’s been partly to blame for these last two (thankfully we clobbered Villa as he was rubbish in that one as well). The difference with all the other players mentioned is they’re capable of more, whereas Almiron is always this way unless he scores, he had been for years before that 4 month purple patch and has resorted to type since. His work rate is brilliant and he has aspects to his game that would have me keep him in the squad but he needs to lose this undroppable position Howe has him in now. Agree that the response is important. Hopefully Howe learns from those horrendous sub choices, and I do think now these two are out the way we can start to play our way rather than seeming nervous.

Have to disagree, Almiron has been like this for almost the entirety of 2023 now. He misses chance after chance to put teams to bed, he really needs replaced in the starting 11. Others also deserve blame but by now Almiron is very deserving of criticism imo.

His hitting the woodwork is his fucking inaccuracy. He’s back to what he was before his purple patch, nothing but a worker that harries the opposition. It’s really fucking time we figured out how to drop him from the line up as it’s ruining our attack every week now. Positive thing is these two fucking games are out the way, hopefully we can start to perform now.

I just don’t get what Almiron has on Howe the bloke was absolutely fucking lifting today, and was in the prior two games, yet Howe subbed off the winger that was absolutely fucking torturing them all game. Same can be said for taking Tonali off as well over anyone else.

Honestly the second half performance by a lot of the players was a joke. They looked completely flat against a side who had fucked them over twice last season, but our lot had no fight, or desire short of a few of them. Really disappointing tonight.

I love the bloke but this result was largely down to Howe’s terrible subs today. Gordon and Tonali were the stand out players and he took both off while other players were far weaker performers. Really fucking frustrating against this lot too.

Not a clue what’s going on with the players like, it’s as if they just switched off second half. The subs were bad mind which really hasn’t helped.

Can’t help but feel the subbing off of Gordon cost us here. He’d have done far better with the Barnes chance, meanwhile Almiron has missed multiple good opportunities.

Feel it’s the wrong sub taking Gordon off tbh. He’s been our best player, meanwhile Almiron is having a mare.

He’s just so direct, constantly just runs at his man and seems to be an intelligent player with his passing.

Amazing he hasn’t been booked yet. He’s been screaming at all the officials and has been outside his area a couple of times.

Any other fan base besides Liverpool is annoyed at their defender for committing a ridiculous foul and getting himself sent off, instead they’re pretending it wasn’t a goal scoring opportunity . Lad I know just sent me the rule about how if it’s a pen it’s a yellow card saying “see denial of a goal opportunity should have been a yellow never a red” I quickly pointed out we didn’t get a fucking pen did we.
