Joelinton dropped after some of his best performances for us. Not saying I wouldn’t have dropped him to have this line up but why did he persist through 20+ games of not looking like a footballer to then drop him when he showed a few signs of being one.

If it’s true that they can’t sort Marty’s contract because they won’t agree to his £25k a week wage demands they’re even more pathetic than I thought. We’re paying Colback, who isn’t even registered, nearly double that apparently. It’s a very reasonable wage for a fairly regular squad player for a PL side ffs. According to Hope Bruce has told Matty to put football ahead of money, the kid is asking for pretty much the going rate for a player of his current stature and it’s definitely not a wage which the club would struggle with. If they were to buy Bentaleb to cover for Matty leaving it’d cost far more in wages, never mind having to also pay a transfer fee.

Conveniently didn’t watch and didn’t have a comment for the games we were absolutely tragic, but beat a second tier side in the cup and he’s buzzing to go right back at all the Bruce doubters (despite the fact Bruce’s ineptitude made a hash of the second half). It’s also worth noting Bruce seemingly only picked ASM purely because of the reaction to dropping him prior match, and he was one of our better players today. Good to be through, and while he did botch the second half Bruce does deserve credit, the same as he deserves stick when we’re stinking PL games out.

Aye, if Southgate keeps selecting Pickford he’s doing exactly the thing he said he’d never do which is picking the names and his favorites. Both Pope and Henderson have been miles better.

The issue we will have against them is they can both score goals, the pair of them mostly fall down in games because they let loads in despite scoring. So since we can’t fucking score and our defense as a unit is looking worse the longer the season goes on I’m not confident we’d be able to get anything out of sides like that.

The commentator mentioning Joelinton doing a decent job in a position he probably doesn’t favor, despite it being the type of position he played all of last season.

I really don’t think the commentators are watching the game. He just questioned playing Joelinton wide, while he’s having one of his better games for us, and keeps saying Bruce should try him through the middle. He then pondered if Southgate should pick Pope, Mee and Tarkowski together for England as they have a great understanding, in a game where they’re not looking great against Almiron and Gayle, but at the same time saying Almiron and Gayle aren’t working as a pairing.

Aye, I think Joelinton is clearly a wide player as he looks more comfortable there. As you say though there’s not really a natural fit, especially as ASM is better and Ritchies set pieces are sometimes pretty good.

Hayden has been shite today imo. Seems to have given the ball away nearly every time he gets it.
