The Secret Diary of Lee Ryder (aged 44 and a half)
Howay replied to Craig's topic in Newcastle Forum
Nice. Ryder (and those of his ilk) keep banging on about how they don’t understand why the club don’t release a statement, that’s not standard in these type of things though especially when it’s highly likely there are confidentiality agreements etc signed between the party’s. Also, why would Ashley and his group give a shit to do that if they could? He’s not exactly shown he gives a fuck about the fans so why would he suddenly feel he wants to alleviate fans anxiety that the deal will or won’t happen? I’m happy to hear nothing from the club until we hear something from the new owners tbh. I’ve heard and seen enough from Mike Ashley over the past 13 years. -

I think getting into the Champions League is a hurdle to getting that type of player, there’s always the possibility one of them might take the money and risk missing the CL for a bit (like Robinho at Man City, not that that worked out great iirc) but I think a lot of that level of player don’t want to miss any time out of the CL. I think that’s why a 2 year ban would be tough for City with players like De Bruyne likely not being ok with missing out on 2 years of CL football in their prime. FWIW I’d fucking love to be wrong . I was just meaning even if we can’t get that level of player we can definitely clean up on the tiers below them. -

I get that he doesn’t like us but if he genuinely thinks that if the owners spent £600m on the team we’d not have a chance of breaking in the top four he’s off his map. While it’s not worth mentioning how wrong he is I also find it funny that he’s essentially saying we can’t buy our way in but then references Man City as being in that elite, a team who.... well... bought their way in. To be honest if he’s that biased against a side he shouldn’t really be paid to give his opinion on football. I immensely dislike Sunderland but if they were in the PL and suddenly had owners who would spend £600m on their team they’d be a very good football side, to say otherwise is foolish. We aren’t going to go out and buy Mbappe but there’s no reason we can’t go and buy someone like, say, Grealish from a tin pot side headed for relegation. It would be an immediate step up for him, players of that bracket would definitely come. Sure you’d miss out on some that might get an offer from a current CL side and they opt for that but it’s utter drivel for him to act like we are going to sit not being able to buy decent players, we are in the PL after all which according to him in that set of quotes we should be immensely thankful to Ashley for. -
Oh man, I’ve had a fucking shit week and I needed that thread. What a fucking treat that was. That fucking huckle doesn’t grasp why a family worth trillions wouldn’t take the cheaper and immensely more risky option of buying a League One side over buying a Premier League side and being able to immediately start investing? It’s not even worth noting that for all their twisting and deluded Geordie jibes we are the more recognizable club from the two by a large margin, especially internationally. As many know I live in the states, when I mention I’m from Newcastle people immediately reference either the beer, Newcastle United, or both even when they know basically nothing about footy. I’m sure the Netflix comedy series will help their exposure but it’s not exactly in a good light is it? This quote btw: ”I hope that their buy out will encourage people to buy us though, for one of they put a team together someone could see us as an attractive club to reignite the rivalry, I would say man city got bought out because they are next door to man United and already had a brand name” This is the sort of fucking gold I was expecting from them, they honestly call us deluded and then come out with utter dross like this. Every bit of it is magic, even down to bitterly trying to say Man City was a bigger brand than NUFC pre-Abu Dhabi group, we were a CL side just 4-5 season prior to that you numpty. It’s also worth noting the Abu Dhabi group went to buy NUFC first, there’s a reason this isn’t the first gulf state to try and buy NUFC while the only takeover attempts for our malformed “rivals” have been a clueless American hedge fund owner, then two wide boy chancers. Michael Dell has no knowledge of Sunderland, nor the imaginary takeover, firstly he invests in a passive fund that was rumored to be interested, he doesn’t engage in it, and secondly they gave a loan to SAFC, that’s what it was ffs they gave them a loan and the connection got the mackems frothing. It’s going to get a whole hell of a lot worse you little tramps, and you best believe I’m going to enjoy every second of it. Call me obsessed all you want, it’s going to be fucking hilarious to potentially watch world class players while those bong eyed cucks watch Will Grigg.

That Glendenning really nails his point in the responses: So, essentially he’s perfectly fine with Delaney saying he’s uneasy/having a go at the Saudi Royal family, while he also takes their money since they pay a portion of his salary through part ownership of where he works, but it’s totally impossible for a fan of Newcastle to be uneasy with the new owners but still support the club. Bizarre and completely ridiculous take and logic. Apparently he’s a mackem that works for talkSPORT? Makes sense he’s an utter fucking knacker. He’s getting beyond wound up in the responses as well . -

Aye, I’ve come to expect no less from most journalists tbh. Most tend to be nothing more than WUMs with a greater vocabulary: This tweet was linked by prominent German Journalist Rafael Honigstein, in reference to Delanys piece as well as a few other little jabs he aimed at the fanbase. Again that’s the fan base this is all aimed at. Now I know this new bunch are pretty abhorrent, but where we’re all these journalists when we were railing against Ashley for 13 years? Where were they as Ashley took a club that had recently played regular European football and cheapened them out and drove them into the dirt to the tune of 2 relegations, basically never getting past the 3rd round of any cups, let the stadium and facilities rot to shit, tried to embarrass any club legend we had while essentially mocking and laughing at the fans. Did they stand up and say that football has gone to shit and he should never be an owner? No, they generally ignored him, or wrote a little piece about it when the fan pressure ramped up at a point or he done something particularly bad so they could cash in on some clicks, before going back to ignoring it. Little to no doubt many will be wanking off about NUFC years down the line if this lot do pile money in and have us in a position like Man City are now, which is what many currently do over Manchester City games. -

If it’s at the PL for fit and proper test everything is agreed pending that. The fat pig Samuel is just fishing for clicks. I don’t get the “but if they don’t just stump up exactly what Ashley wants are they really that interested”, that’s not how things work people try and pay what they value the asset at or get it for a cheap as they can, why would they simply pay whatever Ashley wants? Also using his shit analogy, would the person on £30k a year happily pay an extra £4.50 for their pint? I don’t think they would. In fact from their perspective he fucked the deal up once, and now they have him in a more desperate position (since he probably wants liquidity to buy SD) why would they give into him ? -

The interim being the time between now and whenever the deal is closed/season is officially ended, anything past that and I can’t see Steve Bruce being manager. Why on Earth would the state of Saudi Arabia buy a football club, with a likely aim of increasing a brand to show themselves in a positive light/grow in influence in other areas, to keep a manager on that shouldn’t have a job in the Premier League in the first place and has probably the most turgid brand of football in the PL (statistically the worst or close to worst side in most attacking metrics). You have to love the mail and other media outlets, literally calling these people human rights abusers who shouldn’t be involved in football and then genuinely thinking they would think twice about sacking Steve Bruce because he wouldn’t be “getting a fair go”. -

Remember how fucking hopeless it all felt when the rumoured takeovers fell through, and Rafa left to go to China. I genuinely don’t know how I’m going to feel if this all goes through and in walks Benitez with wads of dosh backing him to sign who he wants and do a complete overhaul of our facilities. Fucking hell man we might actually be rid of Mike Ashley! -

I think the last sentence is the crux of it. We are going to get an absolute pasting off the press as worry sets in that the media darlings may have another contender for their ‘top six’, fully expect it to become a ‘top seven’ of this lot spend and progress as we hope as they’ll not want to state any of their favorites to not be part of the elite group. I can see it taking a while regardless of backing, and it’ll likely be a targeting of young high potential players to grow the club, then use increased fund availability and growing standing to hold onto them. I think the Leipzig reference is a good one, with the additional bonus of being able to spend more than them due to the higher income of PL sides. -

Goater was actually who I was thinking of regarding the way shite like Colback will be viewed. When I see short docs about Man City they interview Goater and you’d think he was playing for CL competing sides, not spending years as relegation fodder. Hopefully if Colback gets ideas above his station people can just overlay it with footage of him committing absurd late fouls which give away game losing free kicks against the likes of Nottingham Forest. -

I hope this does go through, and they do what we are all dreaming by heavily investing and making us a massive club. Potentially one of the best bits will be years down the line we will see utter tragic players like Colback lauded as ex-Newcastle players because people will have forgotten we were utter shite. It’ll be interesting to see which one of our ex-player group that slate us all the time crawl over broken glass to be associated with NUFC, looking at the likes of Bellamy and Owen. -

Probably one of the centre halves, Dubravka or even ASM since he’s pretty young and could improve a lot. -

I hope that’s Ryder trying to hedge his bets so he didn’t piss Bruce off if the takeover ended up not happening. There’s no chance of him being kept in charge. -

Didn’t take long for people to get onto the bloke mention in the articles wikipedia In seriousness it’s amazing to read the professional way everything is being set up with this from what it seems. This is going to be a massive difference to the absolute whopper we’ve had as owner for the last 13 years. -

I think the latter point is just as exciting as the football side of things. We will likely see a lot of rejuvenation, which would create more jobs and there’s then potential for things to improve from there. Very exciting. -

Can’t say I’ve noticed, I suppose you’re more likely to notice and pay attention to it when it’s about your club, they seem to think it’s been a lot. I agree we are getting it early though. -

Class that. Alex is right they absolutely love Mike Ashley, if this goes through maybe we should all immediately pivot and say we all love him as he sold us to this lot, they won’t know what to think or do. Typical mackem insight as well “it’s all going to go tits up” is their response to everything, I seem to remember the relegation we had was the end of everything, how fucking wrong they were eh. Enjoy League One you bunch of doylems, it’s funny he brought debt into it when the club he supports shouldn’t exist now if not for the fact their previous owner literally absolved them of all the debt they’d accrued before handing them to the bing bong twins who have immediately plunged them massively into debt. Still, they get to watch Will Grigg play. -

Went onto a Man City forum to see what they were saying. A good few seem to really dislike us, more seem to have a hatred of Liverpool and Man Utd so said they looked forward to us being a further challenger. Then it switched to FFP discussion where someone said: “A change of ownership allows a new owner to agree a managed plan for investment with UEFA without needing to meet the break-even requirement.” Which could help the new owners when coupled with a relaxing of FFP due to COVID-19. They are excited about us becoming the media’s new target regarding ownership though, they see it as they inherited that from Chelsea, so now they will pass it onto us and hope we become the target of ire for UEFA and the press. -

If it makes you feel better every article about us, if it goes through, is going to basically call us all cunts for being happy about it and then go into long rants about the Saudis background. We might get some information in between those rants as in the Guardian article KD posted, but there’s probably a ton where they’ll just call us all hypocrites and abhorrent. I look forward to every article concerning the likes of Uber, Twitter, Apple, Manchester City, Sheffield United, etc having similar write ups in them due to their investors/owners/practices. Apparently the PIF owns a greater share of twitter than founder Jack Dorsey, so I hope the journalists that will bash us will refrain from using that platform. I understand they’re bad btw, and I understand this is naturally going to happen but I’m just taking issue with the fact it’s immediately gone to blaming the fans for being excited about this despite the fact society as a whole has long, and will continue, to accept money from sources which act in questionable (to say the least) ways. -

It’s highly likely they’d be ran a million miles better if something like that did happen. I’m more than happy for the two carpet baggers to remain in charge all while the mackems day dream that someone is going to randomly come out of nowhere to buy a League One side and invest a fortune in them. -

Thought I’d take a look at the mackems insanity. There’s a bloke screaming that no players would want to come to Newcastle while jamming his fingers in his ears, then there’s also this bloke: They really are an utterly pathetic fan base. I look forward to the mental gymnastics and delusion to come as it sinks in that NUFC are set to become the richest club in the world while Sunderland are a third tier side owned by a bloke with a net worth lower than NUFC first teamers.
