  1. Got it, I was taking it that the PL wasn’t part of the discussion since there’s that football league and PL split, so I had it that the 3 would have been relegated from the PL. It’s going to be mad like. I suppose it’s trying to have as many people at the top table as possible. So it’ll likely mean that PL tv money is more spread out, which I think is good for our potential new owners as it’ll likely lower the player market a bit.
  2. Interesting, so the Championship could potentially be 27 teams next season?
  3. You have to love journalists that just completely make something up.
  4. I’d say it’s more for the document gathering, sending of information, getting questions answered as timely, sort of angle. I can’t speak to their process at all but I know things at my work have been slower and more disjointed than when people are in the office.
  5. Think that’s fair aye, it’s also going to be a more time consuming process with it all being remote as well.
  6. I think that mid May thing was only meant to be exclusivity, so even if it passes it doesn’t mean the deal is off.
  7. Aye, along this vein I don’t know if it was posted here but someone had got a bunch of Keys tweets and did a comparison of the ones that are about topics other than the takeover vs his NUFC nonsense, he was getting about 9 likes and 2 retweets on the non-NUFC ones and hundreds/thousands on the takeover ones. As you point out they’ve found the story that’s taking and are hammering it to death.
  8. It almost looks like they’ve created yet another perfectly indisputable argument to prove they’re the classy, incredibly moralistic ones. They’ll never get to make that choice so can always pretend they have the moral highground. I’m perfectly happy for them to have it, I hope they get a warm sense of pride as they have Newcastle v Barcelona on the tv on a Wednesday night while they listen to Scunthorpe v Sunderland on the radio. This is a fan base that genuinely said they’d take Lee Cattermole and Jack Colback over Cabaye and Tiote. They absolutely cannot talk rationally when NUFC is involved in the topic.
  9. I see Delaney is back at it again today, the bloke seriously needs to give it a rest . It’s at the point where people are best off ignoring him tbh, it’s just circular at this point of him throwing bs out and then replying that it’s all about “giving perspective” etc, while he fobs off every bit of evidence he’s a total hypocrite with either ignoring it or saying it’s different with no explanation of why.
  10. This is what I don’t understand about pundits, they say absolutely outrageous shite like that and aren’t just ridiculed to the point of not having a job. His job is based on supposedly giving insights into football and he’s essentially said it would be a mistake to replace Jack Colback with Luka Modric. As Alex says the bloke shouldn’t be listened to tbh. I just don’t get why he has a job doing this, short of he’s mates with the people who gave him it, his opinions are absolutely farcical.
  11. The clip of the song man, thank fuck Netflix has that skip feature.
  12. Bravo on this PL, you’ve absolutely decimated the bloke . Glad he gets to actively participate in the sports washing that he reviles, but others who have less choice have to stand against it. I suppose it would have been way more of a shame if he missed out on “one of the biggest events of the year” than us not getting to follow football, all he’s asking us to do is turn our back on our football club and basically lose out on what is likely our biggest interest in life. I also love that people like him and Delaney aren’t grasping why we’re getting mad at them, and keep acting like it’s only the regime they’re going after. By linking the excitement of the fans at being rid of Ashley, the #cans craic, etc to the evils the Saudis do is not merely suggesting the regime have short comings, that’s having a pop at fans who have no control over the deal. You and Wykiki have hit the nail on the head that the people they would go after if they truly do care about this is people like AJ, the British Government, the Monarchy, and Mike Ashley. He has absolutely zero ground to stand on if he’s saying that him traveling to Saudi Arabia, and covering that boxing match is somehow less complicit in sports washing than an NUFC fan attending a game at St James’ (it’s clearly far more complicit seeing as he’s actively giving them press etc as well), same with Delaney and taking part of his pay cheque from them. Fwiw Holt had a choice to not cover it as you pointed out, the same that Delaney could work for another newspaper, both those things are far easier to do and have little to no real impact on those blokes lives than asking a Newcastle fan to stop supporting their football club. If they can’t see that then they should be ashamed of themselves as it’s essentially ignoring what it means to people to be fans of their club, it’s saying that fandom means less than a bloke having to go through the hassle of his changing job or missing out on going to a boxing event.
  13. That might be the best bit of all this. They seized on our relegation so strongly that season, they didn’t go as far the prior time we went down, and it backfired so spectacularly. They’re a third tier team
  14. Meanwhile Will Griggs is setting their pockets on fire, their expenses are terrifying.
  15. Aye that could be the aim like. I’d heard of him but it was only because of him droning on about Manchester City and the CAS appeal, so at least he’s consistent from the standpoint of just wanting everything to suit and protect Manchester United. I do find it funny he pretends he’s simply standing against a Saudi takeover, and it’s not against NUFC fans but then is actively twisting things to try and say we’re all in full support of human rights abuse, and are cringeworthy.
  16. Mr moral compass is now taking it upon himself to ban #cans. “Indulging” what a sanctimonious little prick.
  17. Could you imagine that turnaround. The press licking their lips that the deal may not happen, to then end up with the deal done and Nagelsmann in as manager. I see Carragher was throwing his “they have to give Bruce a chance” piece out today, I assume when Klopp leaves he’ll be excited for Bruce to get a chance there
  18. Aye 5 title wins in the Mike Ashley era, think we were in the Championship for a couple of them.
  19. Potentially aye, the article seems to be more based on a document from a few months back rather than them saying it’s a source passing new info to them (now I’ve actually given them their click). Of course nothing is off the table I was just meaning I’m personally not going to worry about The Sun reading something into a document from a few months ago. I think in general it would be a hard legal argument for the PL to make to block the fund from buying a club on the grounds that they are suspicious there’s a link between the country and a piracy network within the country. If the connection had been proven in a court I would be more worried - as seemingly they have used foreign court rulings in the past (in the case of Cellinio who bought Leeds he was initially blocked due to a foreign court case but even he overturned the PL ruling), but as they beat BeIN in the French case I’m not sure how they would be able to sustain a block on an assumption where the potential buyer had successfully fought a suit over the same issue.
  20. I agree that’s potentially the case. I think I’d be more worried if it was a more reputable newspaper leading with this than the Sun. Like I mention in my post above I feel it’s a bit suspect legally to block the deal on was are simply assumptions and suspicions.
  21. This. It would make no business sense for the PL to block this on these piracy grounds. Firstly it’s a really dicy legal stance as it’s merely an accusation, and secondly if they really did have control over it and were to be blocked then you can be sure they would double down on any effort.
