Hilarious that he’s put on a suit for this btw. Bet he’s desperate for this day to be over so he can get the tracky bottoms back on.

The entirety of the build up to the Everton v West Ham match has just been about Newcastle. Robbie Earle saying he expects Newcastle will win titles in the near future. I bet the Everton and West Ham fans watching are loving this.

Other Games 21/22: Talk about Actual Football

I think they should stick with him, they can’t expect success overnight, what more do they expect, got them to their highest finish in x amount of years (too lazy to look like the pundits), think it’s disgraceful how the fans are treating him. Think that about covers it. If they don’t stick with him I’d personally like Steve Bruce to be given a chance, as Scholes says he deserves a chance to be given a role where he has lots of money to spend, plus he knows the club. -
Boro still exist by the way? What an irrelevant club, glad to see they still have a little weird mackem type rivalry with us mind.
-
Completely missed the likely intended slight of the bloke putting big in quotation marks. The big club argument is childish and irrelevant enough when it’s about top division sides, but imagine doing it in the third fucking tier man.

Never change Spurs fans.

Honestly only in football could some fucking idiot that’s clinging on to his job for an £8m pay off be framed as doing some noble thing that should be highly respected. What’s he fucking done? Had about 3 days work where he’s probably phoned it in as per, and got pissy at the first question asked despite knowing full well the questions that were coming. Bruce is more than welcome to quit the job, literally everyone bar him would be buzzing if he did.

Spot on. Aye there’s no doubt they’re well run, and have maintained momentum and capitalized from those early advantages. I think the last point is key here too, they’ll moan about teams like us and Manchester City doing to them what they are doing to the rest of the league. I also get what you’re saying Rayvin, I personally don’t like Klopp so I find him whiny at the best of times let alone issues like he’s trying to bring up here so just like to point out his hypocrisy. I agree, it’s something we definitely have to get used to I just take exception to people like Klopp trying to paint the past as some golden age where everything was a meritocracy when in actual fact it’s pretty much always been driven by who has the most money. I agree with Alex that they’re punching above their weight class for now, in part due to Manchester United’s failings in recent years, I think Klopp is a massive reason for that too though as he is a brilliant coach, fortunately I see him leaving them soon and they’ll drop a fair bit off where they are now. -

It’s rocky foundation though. I’m fairly sure at some point they had a wealthy investor owner who gave them that initial leg up. It’s like how Blackburn won the league off the money their owner pumped in, people romanticize it because by today’s standard the money doesn’t look big but at the time it was. -

He’s always been a big cry baby tbf. They spent £80m on a keeper and £75m on a centre half ffs. They can say it was the Coutinho money but they’ve spent far more than that. Wherever the money is sourced, whether it is from the owners, or sponsorships and people abroad buying shirts the end result is the same, it creates inequity in the league something Liverpool have long enjoyed having on their side due to the revenue generation abilities of their past success, which came from…. having more money than others. -

This fucking Cundy is wounded by this isn’t he. I’m sure this will be an intellectual and balanced debate, who gives a flying fuck? -
Agreed, it hasn’t been great but I do think it’s because there’s a lack of structure at the minute. I think once the Edwards/Marwood/Rangnick/whoever type structure is built out a lot of these decisions will be carried out by them, with Al-Rummayan and PiF only getting involved when it comes to discussing budgets/targets and large outlays for the year.
-
It’s staggering man, this is their second day off this week isn’t it? Since Saturday/Sunday was a day off as well. He’s such a lazy fucking prick. I think that they want the football structure in place and don’t want to involve themselves in sacking Bruce, I guess the idea is leave the current structure as is until they bring in Marwood above Rangnick who will then have reign to appoint his own head coach. I know in a business acquisition (short of a private equity firm being the buyer) this bit can take a while, hopefully with it being football and there being the threat of relegation they can expedite it. I see it from their angle but like I’ve said in the past there’s zero negative and a ton of positives to removing Bruce even if it’s just putting Jones in charge.

The Entirely Reasonable Potential Transfers Thread

Adds to the ridiculousness of their point tbh, as if the players they’re holding up as playing for the badge wouldn’t run off as fast as they can if offered more money or a higher level. -

Have to cherish watching the likes of Jeff Hendricks sprinting around, won’t see many games from that calibre player, the mackems reckon it’s way better watching lads like that busting a gut playing for the badge than watching genuine world class players. It’s going to be a tough slog, but I suppose someone has to do it. -

How bad is the Chronicle website btw, my phone just about blew up with the amount of shite popping up all over the screen, even when trying to read the article it would expand with some random survey question. Shockingly shit. -
Agreed, I get Gemmill and others point but leaving this rot in charge is a misstep. He’s not a competent manager that is doing an ok job and the new owners simply want their own man, he’s a massive negative and one that has done nothing but insult the fan base and club for 2.5 years. Keeping him just delays any type of rebuild or fresh feeling, he’s just a lingering stale fart that’s killing the excitement post Ashley. There would be no negative to having Jones take over in the interim, honestly he’d probably do a better job anyway, but the upside would be it would keep the wave of positivity going. Instead we’re going to have 5-6 days of the media cranking out absolute drivel about Bruce, his 1,000th game, how the fans are wrong and he’s clearly a good manager as look the new owners are giving him a chance. Suddenly that excited atmosphere and celebratory mood would become a little bit flatter for Sunday’s game. If he’s in the dug out it’ll be harder for it to feel like things have changed, we’ve got rid of the cancer but this fucking symptom is still lingering and causing the shits.

I must admit I fucking hate when these journalists start acting like fans don’t get it “not contractually simple to change things quick” erm aye it really is just sack the cunt. Personally I think they want a sports director in first, I think they probably also want it to look like it’s not a decision purely to get fans on side. If he’s manager of another game I think it’s a wrong decision whatever the optics they’re trying to show are.
