Reece James is injured which is where this rumour has sprung up from. The chilwell injury has created the “omg Chelsea are in for Digne” rumour. I honestly think its all lazy reporting, they’ll likely move Azpilicueta to cover James and recall Emerson or loan a LB to cover Chilwell.

Agreed, I think it would also have a higher likelihood if they were really close in the title race but now they’re 11 points behind they won’t want to make that type of move when the chances of them overturning that is fairly slim.

They’re not shelling out £20m+ on a 31 year old right back to cover for the 6-8 weeks that James is out. They also have Azpilicueta as back up already. It’s from a Sun article too btw. I could see them being more of an issue in the Digne deal if he decides to go there on loan to hope Rafa gets sacked, but even then with Everton buying a LB it probably motivates him for a permanent move.

For example Liverpool made that choice when they assembled their team the way they did, tbf I don’t think I’ve seen any whinging about it from Klopp which is out of character for him. Personally I’m all for doing away with International football altogether as it’s wank and generally disruptive to the club schedule (see the 2 week international breaks). I’m honestly surprised it’s lasted as long as it has given the money involved in the game now and wouldn’t be shocked if some time in the future clubs start challenging releasing their tens of millions of pounds rated assets. I think FIFA’s absurd push to increase the volume may prove to be the tipping point in this.

I like that when anyone brings up that Trippier has had a poor start to the season compared to last season it’s completely ignored that the same applies to pretty much the entirety of Athleticos team. We currently go between Javier Manquillo, and Emil Krafth in that position. Even if he’s having a poor season by his standards he’s a huge improvement on those two.

I still don’t understand the desire they have for us to be relegated, surely if they hope to get promoted they don’t want to play an NUFC side which would presumably be the most expensive side in the history of the league managed by Eddie Howe. It would be two absolute humblings as they get sent back to League One.

I think Watford are losing the most players to the AFCON tournament besides Liverpool out of the PL sides. That could be a important factor as well in the coming games.
