I’m assuming this is new and a change in fact pattern? So now it’s truly a frozen asset. Does our game with them go ahead? They literally cannot pay anything if I’m reading this correct?
  2. I totally missed that the bloke he’s quoting is called Zinedine Kilbane while it could just be a joke on a shit players name, the reality is he’s revered as one of their best players in modern times that’s how shit they are. I’m obviously not accusing that the bloke equates the two players, just that players like Kilbane are the peak of their playing staff. I’ve said it before but genuinely it’s hard to name one of their players that’s as talented as Yohan Cabaye in the PL era, whereas he’d not even be on the first page in a list of ours.
  3. It’s fucking bizarre isn’t it? Like I always thought that about how they carried on about Ashley, they would post endlessly about how he was a great owner - football tribalism aside it’s simply not true is it? They even say it now he’s gone, in contrast I’m more than happy to say their current owners are a fucking disaster which I find hilarious. I also thought Short was a tragic owner, while he put a lot of his money in he put complete trust in all the wrong people so wasted that money, they never improved, and it helped lead to financial issues. I find both things fucking hilarious, but rather take any pleasure in things Ashley did they preferred to make weird points about how he was actually a brilliant owner so that it played into their weird desire to paint our fan base as some uniquely deluded and horrible group. It also happens with managers, as Renton pointed out, they’re obsessed with Bruce being better than Rafa and now Howe to support the deluded mags point rather than taking any enjoyment in how miserable we were under Bruce. In fact as Sonatine says, rather than enjoy our depression under Bruce they genuinely got angry about how we liked Rafa more than Bruce. Weird bunch.
  4. I love Trippiers attitude man. Just doesn’t give a fuck what people think, his whole demeanor when pressed about why he come to Newcastle and essentially being called a liar for saying it wasn’t about money is just calm and confident that he knows the reasons so doesn’t care if people don’t believe him. That’s before you layer on all of his points about how important the team is, that it’s not just about him etc, again people can say it’s bollocks but when you look at the managers he’s been coached by (especially Poch, Simeone, and now Howe) I really believe him. Can’t wait until he’s back in the side, watching a player of that calibre is fucking brilliant.
  5. I genuinely forgot David Moyes had managed them, that’s how many fucking managers they go through. Of course, he was clearly the problem with them and definitely massively to blame for where they are, not like he’s done anything since. Coincidentally what’s Bruce, the man they’re championing, up to since he left us?
  6. Facts schmacts. It’s clear to anyone who can see it, a man that took over the 6th best defensive unit in the PL and spent £125m on players would definitely be doing better than the bloke who inherited the team he left, which was actually the worst in the country in basically every metric, and has had them on title winning form for 2022. Only a deluded mag would be blind to it. The only good thing about Bruce is the fact the mackems, who fucking hated him and chased him out as well, now have to act like he’s some type of class manager as part of their mental gymnastics trying to shoehorn something in about us being deluded or whatever point they’re trying to make by implying Bruce is anywhere near equal to Howe.
  7. I’m assuming he is talking on behalf of a group (a cabal if you will) of Gary’s. It’s a brilliant chant Gary’s and will be considered for selection.
  8. Aye he’s spot on, there hasn’t been a single word said about it. I also enjoy that the guy replying is agreeing with the first one but completely contradicts his point “‘there’s absolutely no mention of what the Saudis are like anywhere, in fact I’m the only one talking about it’ ‘aye marra that’s spot on, just like how whenever it’s talked about the mags defend the carpet bombing of Yemen’”
  9. He did aye, trying to shoehorn Ba and Cisse into the formation rather than try a different formation. He also played Obertan over Ben Arfa as much as he possibly could.
  10. They can think Bruce and Howe are the same level if they want, we can be over here enjoying the exact thing we’ve been delusional and demanding about getting, according to them, without even having to consider Bruce ever again.
  11. Aye, Brazil talks absolute fucking nonsense - still, at least he has his health.
  12. 0-3 win by Eddie’s lot. Hopefully Joelinton is back. Our main concern is tiredness tbh, as mental as that is going into a game against Chelsea I don’t massively fear them - of course they will likely dominate the game and the difference they have over Southampton and Brighton is the high quality of their players, but we are solid and well drilled and a threat on every set piece. Tiredness might be what does us in.
  13. Maguire has been absolutely fucking stinking. I think he was at fault for 3 Manchester City goals the other week. If Southgate selects him he absolutely cannot claim he picks on form.

    Eddie Howe

Chuffed for him. Nice that he beat out both Klopp, and poundland Klopp to win it as well.
  15. I’m buckled laughing at this page. The mackems truly are a gift. It’s honestly one of the major reasons I wouldn’t want their shite club to go under.
  16. My personal favorite Trump thing was his rant about Elton John: “Bizarrely, this wasn’t the only instance of Sir Elton crossing into Trump’s orbit within the past 24 hours. While speaking to a crowd in Montana Thursday night, Trump abruptly brought up the singer in the middle of tangent about how no one gives him credit for being a great speaker. “I have broken more Elton John records. He seems to have a lot of records. And I, by the way, I don’t have a musical instrument. I don’t have a guitar or an organ. No organ. Elton has an organ. And lots of other people helping. No, we’ve broken a lot of records. We’ve broken virtually every record. Because you know, look, I only need this space. They need much more room. For basketball, for hockey and all of the sports, they need a lot of room. We don’t need it. We have people in that space. So we break all of these records. Really, we do it without, like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical – the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth, right? The brain. More important than the mouth is the brain. The brain is much more important.”” Fucking hell man, what a mental 4 years it was living here with that lunatic in charge. It’ll be even worse if he wins again.
  17. Reminds me of Villa a bit tbh, no one really give much of a fuck about them and we assumed likewise was the case but then they unfurled those banners and celebrated like they’d just won the league the day we went down. Honestly I’ve no interest in Southampton so no clue what their feelings were on us before they went mad recently. My image of them is that they, along with teams like Fulham, Brentford, etc are middle class cunts on a nice day out, not proper football fans. “Ohh I know we got beat by those nasty northerners Tarquin, but we had a lovely day out didn’t we? The tea mummy brought in the flask was lovely and what about your crustless sandwich during the game?”, perennial whinge bag and charity shop Rangnick confirmed as much when he talked about being linked to the Manchester United job, why would I leave here basically fuck all pressure, even if we lose everyone is just lovely like when we win, sounds absolutely class eh? Doesn’t fucking matter what’s happening just a lovely trip out for the Parker-Covington’s. Type of people who buy those scarves that are half of each team in the upcoming game. Maybe I’m being ignorant of the proper footballing city that is Southampton but to me they’re a non-entity, so they can do their rip.

Spot on, that’s why I really dislike Kupers point that Gloom highlighted of making Abramovich some benign ex-gangster who has somehow got entangled in all of this by unfortunate circumstance. Abramovich is an abhorrent prick, he’s an orphan raised in an incredibly rural and poor part of Russia in the Soviet era he went from that to being able to intimidate and twist the arm of the leaders during the fall of Soviet Russia into signing off all of Russias industry to him and his associates - he invented nothing of note in between so how he got from point A to point B is a bit of a mystery box but I’d hazard a guess it isn’t down to the public version that he sold rubber ducks and worked his way up via cunning business practices, and a little bit of selling some stolen goods from the back of lorries. Putin’s rise led to a crackdown on these Oligarchs, as Kuper pointed out but then weirdly ignored this led to replacement of some of them by his old KGB mates, the ones left that didn’t die in mysterious ways or end up in prison for convoluted reasons are seen to be pretty close with Putin, which is very weird given the fate of others. Again this leans heavily into the argument you raise that they’re washing Putin’s money. There’s a fucking reason the UK government have went after these men, it’s not just simply because they’re Russian or to be petty. This image of Abramovich that Chelsea fans highlight is the result of sportswashing and money laundering. “He’s a legitimate business man” and “he donated rooms in his hotels which helped the NHS during the pandemic but you ignore that” are the cries. I understand the parallels between Yemen and Ukraine, and therefore Saudi Arabia and Russia, but as others have said Saudi Arabia are seen as ally’s and we are supplying those weapons, Russia are a threat on our doorstep and aiming at us - the UK government aren’t taking some moralistic stand here it’s purely down to self interest and self preservation. If the day comes that Saudi Arabia is sanctioned in a similar way then I’m not going to scream at football for being hypocritical, my complaint is as it is now - these people shouldn’t be fucking involved in football full stop. I fucking hate this dragging us into it to point score that people are doing. It’s dangerous to me and it’s further sportswashing - it’s leaning into this image that Abramovich isn’t bad because look how bad other people are. That isn’t a comparison that needs to be made, our owners are horrible and shouldn’t be involved in football. Abramovich is a horrible person that shouldn’t be involved in football. What need is there to compare them? As PL says I’ve no issue whatsoever if people want to use us to discuss the wider issue in football, but this fucking nonsense where we are being used to soften Abramovich’s image is ridiculous. It’s also ridiculous that Kuper is calling out the football governing bodies for being hypocrites here, they’re a lot of things and are to blame for allowing these people to be involved - but again this isnt football punishing Chelsea or Abramovich which is what these people need to get out of their fucking heads, this is a Government sanction aimed at stopping the flow of money into Russia. They can take Abramovich’s business at face value and act like he’s just a business man who is of no consequence to Russia, but that’s absolutely not the case and is leaning further into the softening of his image. Call the Government hypocritical for ignoring Yemen and taking this approach with regard to Ukraine, but the reasons for their hypocrisy are clear and again there is no intention to “do the right thing” on their part, simply look at how they’re handling refugees from Ukraine as fucking evidence of that. It’s also worth noting that this ex-gangster who has left it all behind and totally leads a legitimate life now with no enemies whatsoever has a 24/7 ex-special forces protection group that goes with him everywhere he goes, you know like all totally legitimate people with no enemies at all do.

Kuper is talking out his arse. As Alex said this isn’t a punishment by football it’s a government sanction that happens to impact football, at no point did any footballing body show any sign whatsoever that they were going to move against Abramovich. Additionally, this is whataboutism and I’m fairly sure Kuper was one of those that accused Newcastle fans of it. He’s also pathetically downplaying who Abramovich is. His proximity to Putin isn’t some “no enemies” approach, how else would a man who made his wealth by essentially stealing from Russia during the breakdown of the USSR keep that money and be allowed to be anywhere near Russia by a man who wants to rebuild the very thing Abramovich (and other Oligarchs) siphoning helped break apart? There are other Oligarchs who didn’t end up like Abramovich and the others we see because they wouldn’t cosy up to Putin and do his bidding. His company’s help produce the tanks currently invading Ukraine, he was a Governor in Russia, he’s helped fund separatist movements that have led to this Ukraine conflict iirc. Painting him as some jolly bloke who just wants to be friendly with everyone and avoid any bother, but unfortunately has just been caught up in this is incredibly deceptive and undermines Kupers point. Saying all that it doesn’t really matter since his entire point is moot anyway, this wasn’t done by any footballing authority so there’s no hypocrisy from that standpoint. The issue was and always has been allowing fucking scum like Abramovich in, this twisting on and saying which one is worse is a needless and absurd point. It’s just a thinly veiled attempt to have a go at our ownership from a tedious cunt iyam. Our owners are fucking scum, that point is abundantly clear and I’m more than fine with them being discussed in a “none of these scumbags should own clubs” context but they don’t need to be compared to Abramovich, there’s no acceptable level to me to the type of people being discussed.
  20. Wasn’t the 9-1 he mentioned held before world war 1? Over my life time we’ve been by far the better club, I’ve watched us play in the Champions League, and are now watching us rebuild with the richest owners in the history of football, while they were a yo-yo club whose best finish was about 7th or 9th, best player was Kevin Phillips, and are now struggling for promotion out of the third division. But aye by all means gloat about a game that nobody alive in the world was around to see, and derby wins from seasons where they barely avoided relegation. This is exactly what we mean when we call them obsessed and they go “you tak aboot us yous are the obsessed wans”, we joke aye but they literally measure their success based on beating us.
  21. I’m thoroughly enjoying the idiots screaming“buuuuuut they spent loads” through their tears tonight. We will just ignore the money Everton have spent then? Not even talking about the £500m they’ve spunked right up the wall in recent years, but how about the £40m on Alli (whatever the structure of payment that’s what he was apparently bought for), their £24m full back, the £16m they spent on the lad from Rangers, plus whatever the loan fees for El Ghazi and Van Der Beek were? So that’s £80m claim net spend reduces that if you want but it’s still around £60m before factoring loan fees and the point that in recent years we’ve spent fuck all to their half a billion. By all means write off our run by saying it’s down to money, but don’t try and pretend it’s anything other than hysterical . The players we bought that have played the most in the run have been £13m Burn, £25m Wood, and Targett who is a loan, he can’t write off Downies point that getting 19 points from a possible 21 is extraordinary and act like he’s being the rational one.
  22. The knight Ryder’s take on Hasen-gate aaaand Mr Fuckknuckle trying to get involved in the fun. What a bellend.
  23. It’s obviously hard to predict it for next year in the same way that survival was hard to predict in December, but I honestly think there’s a good chance we could qualify for Europe, or at least come close, next season. When I look at our current team and see players like Fraser, Krafth, Murphy, Wood, and Longstaff playing good amounts of times (often starting) in this run of games you can see that swapping them out for massively improved players is going to see us really kick on. I don’t rate all those players the same and I’m not being negative about them but at absolute best you’d put most of them in the grafter category. We basically went from Sean Longstaff to Bruno Guimeraes, we will have Trippier playing instead of Krafth, and this is without the summer window. I think what a lot of teams have shown this year is that most of them are massively inconsistent, clearly we won’t just go every game unbeaten like we are now but if Howe takes this same team spirit, hard to beat base which tries to play and layers in a higher quality of player it’s hard to say we won’t be challenging for Europa spot. There’s also the fact Chelsea look fucked which opens up a spot that’s normally locked up for everyone to move up a place. The prediction bit is hard since we don’t know the summer we will have, the above is all contingent on that but we’ve went 9 games unbeaten and won 6 out of 7 predominately with a front 3 of Wood, Fraser, and Murphy. It’s past the point this run is flukey or simply down to momentum, we’re just genuinely hard to beat now. What a transformation by Howe, honestly hard to overstate the job he’s done in just a few months. Imagine after a 200m summer spend plus a full pre season ffs.
