  1. Sky Sports have been airing and giving plenty coverage to one of the head Qataris who is basically having a pop at Southgate and pretty much writing off every negative thing said about Qatar as bullshit/media spin and that he should come and see Qatar himself before believing any of it. It’s funny to me how these reporters talk about sportswashing, but then will show an uninterrupted, and at least for the clips uploaded on line without any critical comment/opinion, speech by a very eloquent man which in isolation sounds very fair and reasonable. I looked at the comment section and sure enough there was a lot of “he’s spot on, these European countries did worse for years who are they to judge now” and “exactly you shouldn’t pass judgement unless you go and see it with your own eyes”. But sure Miguel, keep telling us all how journalists are somehow exempt from this sportswashing thing rather than imo the biggest enablers of it. I’m sure he will add in some colour about how there’s negatives to this WC, but like others say why the fuck would he go? By going he’s actively engaging in the project to the same level as any of the players/managers etc, arguably more so as the players/manager actually miss out on opportunities/face consequences by refusing to go, I’m fairly sure fuck all would change for him besides not getting an all expense paid trip. He also says he doesn’t pass comment on fans, I took a look at some of his recent posts and one was listing the countries who have sold the most tickets for WC games up to this point, it was of course without comment by him which gives him cover in future but it’s clear he’s trying to highlight something about the fans of countries listed (England and USA were two listed).
  2. Brilliant, well deserved. Going from Steve Bruce’s turgid shite, to having PL manager of the month, and PL player of the month awarded to our lot in the same season
  3. Spot on. I don’t get where they get this impression the fact they're shite is temporary, in my lifetime their pinnacle has been two 7th place finishes, we’ve managed to finish higher under Mike Ashley . On top of that, the best run of consecutive seasons in the top flight for them in my lifetime is 9 seasons, if they don’t go up this season it’ll be 5 in a rowahh in League One it’s not a massive leap to assume they might equal that consecutive top flight streak with their League One run. It’s not a fluke, they’re not hard done by, it’s where they are and it’s what they deserve. If situations were reversed I’m certain the Saudis wouldn’t have targeted them, they can laugh at our fan base but our lot have it right meanwhile they hound our managers that have them on track for promotion in favor of middle aged strikers who can’t score.
  4. Nickson has been saving up his coupons. What I like the sound of is that when we have been quoted high sums we are moving to other targets or putting that position on the back burner, rather than just throwing money at everything.
  5. May have been posted already, but I’ve heard this is really accurate. They like Burn a lot so are now looking more for a RCB, have scouted Gvardiol a lot and Botman on the back burner a bit. Bissouma/Phillips interest is cooling. Everton want £50m+ for DCL so that one’s unlikely, and we had interest in Osimhen at Napoli but they’d paid €70m for him recently so are asking €100m. Add Anthony from Ajax to the list Hope has as we’ve scouted him a lot as well. Sadly heard Pacqueta interest has cooled a bit as they want more of a Bissouma/Phillips type in the midfield 3 rather than him, hopefully that’s not the case as it would be brilliant watching Pacqueta.
  6. He’s absolutely fucking class. It’s going to be great watching him for us, especially once our front line improves and is able to really capitalize on his passing.
  7. Aye spot on, at this point I’d rather have Brighton get nowt. The team brought in the players we needed and they’ll have more time/an easier job convincing players (no immediate relegation fear). Not really sure why Brighton wouldn’t agree to a compensation package short of being bitter bastards. Maybe upset we absolutely rinsed them for Burn. Or we could have been giving them a hard line with a low compo amount, which I’d honestly be happy with as they’ll know we have him soon so it’s more of that long term thinking.
  8. It looks like that was a mistranslation, the quote goes on to say he was being treat with antibiotics. People are saying he has tonsillitis, as I guess the word for that is close to the word for angina in Slovak.
  9. Aye, he had that 30 goal season in the PL (his first in the top tier) when he was 27, after that he was basically a 1 in 3 PL striker up to the age of 32. I’m not sure he would have been revered at Newcastle personally, unless his numbers had been a lot better at us. Fwiw, I don’t have any hatred of Phillips, he seems a nice enough bloke and was a decent PL striker I just find it absurd when Mackems bring him up in comparison to Shearer, it’s like equating Callum Wilson to Aguero.
  10. It’s honestly one of their biggest fucking delusions that Phillips was anywhere near Alan Shearer as a player. No wonder they can’t discuss football properly when they think players like Kevin Phillips and Jermain Defoe were world class ffs.
  11. From what it seems like on Twitter he basically films games, which you obviously aren’t meant to be doing, he was asked to pack it in before being thrown out.
  12. All fine, I just wonder where all of the energy for this type of change was prior to October 2021
  13. Tbf it’s dead unfair on them as the entire league treats them like a cup final, it’s definitely not because they’re a shite club and have found their level. Looks like they’ll be playing Forest Green Rovers next year
  14. I genuinely think you couldn’t have come up with that bit if you were trying to take the piss.
  15. Aye, they’re absolutely desperate for a ‘name’ to play for them as someone else said iirc. That’s why they cling on to fairly standard/upper half players like Defoe, O’Shea, Malbranque, etc. They then weirdly act like there’s some reciprocal love like you mention, I think a lot of it is driven off players we had of a high standard like Solano, Lee etc that do care about NUFC. The bit they’re missing is that caring of NUFC is because it was their peak, they achieved great things and played in top quality, exciting sides, it’s not something inherent with NUFC like they try and ascribe to SAFC. They just simply never have relevant players that play for them. Any names they have are basically similar to when we got people like Kluivert, blokes who have achieved elsewhere looking for a pay day. I’m talking modern era, I’m sure some mackem if they saw this would prove me “wrong” by saying Aethelwulf who was the best player of his day (when the Vikings were sacking Lindisfarne) played on the far right side for them, and that King Aelle was a MLF, but honestly I don’t fucking care - they idolize Jermain Defoe ffs a one in 3/4 striker.
  16. It was the really inherently moral and very charitable ‘invest in Africa’ shirt deal: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2167000/amp/Oil-giant-Sunderlands-20m-shirt-deal.html I think you’ll recall all of the mass protests on Wearside from the time when they entered into that deal? They’re fucking mental like, they even have a thread on there about Reyna’s son with many saying “he will play for the lads one day, he’s a MLF” . He’s more likely to play for us ffs, in fact I hope we do buy him just to watch that website crash.
  17. Aye, I’m also going to assume his outrage about Saudi Arabia/sportswashing began when the Saudis first bid, died down, and then resurfaced in October 2021. If they want to use the horrors committed by Saudi Arabia as a stick to beat Newcastle fans with on occasion, so be it - it’s distasteful but I get it, but this indignation and constant high and mighty act some of them try and do is pathetic. As someone pointed out despite all their outrage and posts supporting Amnesty Internationals message when it came to NUFC ownership there was precisely zero uptick in the Amnesty Sunderland branch interaction/funding or otherwise.
  18. Going to go out on a limb here and guess that one like is himself.
  19. This knacker keeps posting his own tweets onto RTG, if this is what they’re choosing to get wound up about it’s going to be fucking rough for them.
