  1. Ramos could easily backfire on Spurs! A decent manager in his own right but untested in a foreign country. Allardyce was a success at Bolton and took them to unprecedented heights. If we had appointed Ramos and it went tits up the Big Sam bashers would probably turn round and say "Well we should have appointed an English manager, like Allardyce!" Im not saying im happy but dont see the point in sacking yet another manager without bringing in someone significantly better. And sadly i dont see anyone who would take the job.
  2. Why has it automatically got to be a manager out of work ? It doesn't. But it has to be realistic.
  3. To all those who want Allardyce out... who would you bring in to replace him? realistically? MacLaren?
  4. Who are you going to bring in though? And please dont say Mourinho!
  5. I'm Scottish so i dont really care but Gerrard is probably England's only world class player, why the fans would blame him for Wednesday's game seems like utter nonsense and shows a lack of football knowledge. Booing him will probably just make him try harder probably... oh crap, he's scored. Well done Toon fans!
  6. I think he could do a job for us.
  7. Watched on in horror yesterday as we were outplayed by the mackems for the entire match. Long balls, punt, hoof, awful awful awful!!! Plan A is a hoof upfront and hope the defence make a mistake and there is no plan B... pathetic! I was a BS backer from the start but i'm starting to change my mind. Too many bad performances. He says he needs 3-5 years but with the players there now we should be capable of playing better football, or at least creating more. I've seen more football played in the Scottish juniors, quite honestly. Booo!
  8. Surely taking Bolton into Europe should be considered a success? Bolton also used to beat Arsenal and Liverpool on a regular basis... i'd settle for the same here!
  9. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_2862846,00.html Could be set to continue his fine working relationship with Bramble!
  10. "I couldn’t believe it when I saw a picture of Nugent’s k**b, I nearly collapsed laughing" I'm assuming not because it was massivly oversized?
  11. He is also a very good manager. Did well in getting a vastly overrated England team to two quarter finals, won the double with Lazio. He's also right what he says, managers always egt criticised no matter what they do. Remember there were calls for Arsene Wenger to go last season, which is just absolutely ridiculous.
  12. Liverpool 3 Arsenal 6 9 Jan 2007 Liverpool (4-4-2): Dudek; Peltier, Paletta, Hyypia, Warnock (Alonso, 58); Guthrie, Gerrard, Aurelio, Gonzalez (Garcia, 10; Carragher, 74); Fowler, Bellamy. Substitutes not used: Reina (gk), Crouch. Arsenal (4-4-2): Almunia; Hoyte, Touré, Djourou, Traoré (Connolly, 88); Walcott (Diaby, 73), Fabregas, Song, Denilson; Baptista, Aliadière. Substitutes not used: Poom (gk), Lansbury, Randall.
  13. Is that the reserves who scored 6 at Anfield? Oh good! Actually, i think most of them have 'graduated' into the first team now. I'm sure the one's they've got in there now will be crap
  14. Good to see England taking their rightful place behind every decent football team in world football. Clearly one of the most overrated teams in history, making a meal of what is a very easy qualification group. I always felt - and still do - that Sven got a really hard time as manager, as getting England to two quarter finals was no disgrace, despite the opinion that England should be getting to the final, and winning it! As always with England, their arrogance is their downfall. Nevermind, once you got shot of Sven and replaced him with an English manager, success would be a formality. Ha bloody ha! Scotland on the other hand have improved so much since Bungling Berti left it's untrue. I doubt anyone could name me a team in world football who could do the double over France. They might have had better players but we were a better team. It's good to be Scottish at the moment
  15. So in 1 game we've gone from being good to being shit then? We were good against Wigan. It's early days and i'm not judging anyone yet. Remember when Wolves who were bottom beat Man Utd who were top at the time, these things happen. Derby had just been humiliated against Liverpool and came out with a point to prove. I still think we've improved since last season which is all you can ask. Yes it was a poor performance, but i won't be judging anything until after Christmas.
  16. A quick Google search suggests he's a centre half/defensive mid 30 caps for Norway. Could be a replacement for Taylor if he moves on.
  17. Some people should be throughly ashamed of their contributions to this thread... sadly, i doubt they will be. Imagine your dad was a footballer from yesteryear who recently passed away, seeking comfort you begin reading threads of condolence on the internet, and you see this. Some people have no grasp of rationality whatsoever. RIP and thoughts with his family at this difficult time. P.S. I suggest some of you read the Rangers/Celtic forums when someone from the opposite camp befalls a personal tragedy and see how a thread of condolence SHOULD be conducted.
  18. Must be hard, moving to a club like liverpool to play football, and being paid obscene amounts of money for it. At the end of the day.. If he misses his family etc, then i can sympathise, however whenever footballers come out with stuff like this it looks really pathetic.
  19. I don't think we will keep up the same style for long. Once all the players are bedded in, and Barton back, i think we'll start playing better football. But the main objective was to become hard to beat/or at least, not just roll over like we used to. Sort the defence out... I think we are getting there. For the first time in a long long time we are going away to a top 4 side (the Emirates) and i don't feel like we're likely to lose 4 or 5. Rome wasn't built in a day, we can't expect to start playing exhilirating football while remaining tight at the back straight away, so for me the report card reads "Good progress, more to come".
  20. A few years ago nothing would have been made of this. Sadly it is indicative of today's PC-gone-mad culture. In the future I predict humans will not be allowed to say anything to anyone from fear of it offending someone, somewhere, and will eventually lose the power of speech!
  21. Whatever way you look at it its a really shitty draw. Arsenal are capable of destroying anyone, even their reserve team are brilliant! It's funny that everyone thought they'd fall apart when Henry left, but they have actually grown as a side. I think we'll maybe have to try our luck in the FA Cup, or wait until next year.
  22. The good thing now is you never get the feeling we're going to f*ck things up. Wigan fans have that to deal with now. The new look defence inspires me with confidence. The midfield looks solid, it's just a case of finding the right blend up front. The main thing is we have options, but all of the strikers (apart from Shola) i rate quite highly. Roll on Derby!
  23. Sad news. You can imagine his family being sick with worry after what happened to Puerta. Hopefully he'll pull through.
  24. Kuffour was a mainstay in my FM06 Newcastle team. This would be a disgrace!
  25. HT score: 1-1 FT score: 1-2 First goalscorer: James Milner How many goalscorers will be on the pitch at FT: 0
