Rather than go off TV and actually in the flesh at SJP I'd say Zidane and Hagi for Europeans and Riquelme and Recoba for South America... Zidane's touch and manipulation of the ball was amazing to watch close up... Hagi's low centre of gravity and passing/shooting technique... Riquelme's ball retention/shielding and being able to dictate a whole game at walking pace... Recoba's left foot/wand... Off topic slightly but there has been some great players in the Premiership but trying hard to think of one who has had a great game at SJP? I guess going of goals scored perhaps Ronaldo/Rooney but they've not had particularly great games... Even Henry etc... And going back further my dad always said Shilton never played well at SJP!... Off topic again but all time favourite... Zico... In my eyes the greatest...

Spot on. Lets just keep our fingers crossed when everbody is bedded in we start playing a bit more football. Looking forward to see how we do against Arsenal in the Cup away. Probably our first marker on how things are going and what improvements we have made not just in ability but mentality.

I was round my dads last night when he got the call from Sam and he had already renewed as normal so I don't think it has anything to do with season tickets just a bit of publicity.

Early days... don't think we tatically slowed they game down greatly...more a case of 1st game of season and everyone struggling a bit for match fitness. I agree we took our time over goal kicks etc but when the ball was in play we still din't retain posession very well against what looked a very poor Bolton side who's only bright spot was Diouf.

Oliver wrote an article in the EC a few days ago after the Keegan/Shearer rumours. Other than that i would say you could assume Sam was not a happy bunny a week or so ago when listening to his comments.

and its not against the premiership rules to have more than one decent player at any particular position is it? nope but im sure they would both want to play and cost 4m and 6m respectively which is quite a bit of money for someone to sit on the bench. But i see your point about time we had competition for places though, and call me daft but I expect us to have more than our fair share of injuries again this year as normal. We havent exactly got a big squad have we? i'd put "Dragutinovic" in the big name signing bracket at 12 letters
