  1. Watched Snowtown most recently. Quite engaging, good film overall I thought, if a little confusing in places - I was probably better off for knowing of the story already.

    Yep, hence why I said I'd give a series a go .. if/when it's made.

Thought it was pretty rubbish tbh. Would probably give a series another episode or two though, just to be sure that I don't like it.
  4. He's on BBC Breakfast this morning. Got a genuinely lol out of me with his joke about special forces. He's a pretty funny guy like, really pleased to see him doing well out of what started as a daft little venture.
  5. A lad I know has been getting a fair bit of press lately for his standup because he can't speak. http://lostvoiceguy.com
  6. Had a cracking Easter Sunday. Dinner round my mam's then escaped to the pub to watch the football and have a few drinks over the course of the night. Great stuff.
  7. I don't get how you think those comments belittled Jill, intentional or not. (Obviously not in this case). Not at all, I completely agree with you. It's really very straightforward.
  8. I feel loads better. For a few months it was going to be a slippery slope into becoming a right fat mess so I'm pleased I decided to do something about it. Would've been all too easy to stay in denial about my clothes becoming tighter. No secrets or quick fixes here though. Cut down drinking from about 6 nights a week to 1 or 2 days over the weekend, eat a healthy balanced diet with snacks (fruit) spaced out through the day to avoid getting too hungry, eat whatever I want 1 day a week (Saturday), say no to all the biscuits etc going round the office, gym/running 3-4 times a week and walk wherever possible. Straightforward but just takes a bit of willpower and dedication. I actually enjoyed it because it's good to see the results of your efforts. Now I find myself slightly smug when I hear everyone else in the office moan that they're not losing while shovelling cake into their mouths.
  9. According to my records: 4-Nov-10 - 12st 6lbs 6oz 11-Nov-10 - 12st 2lbs 3oz Today: 15-Mar-12 - 9st 1lb 10oz
  10. Not sure on the details but my friend saw the Hairy Bikers in the Weigh House yesterday in town and apparently they're filming a show about dieting.
  11. Slightly stressed at the minute. Looking for a house (to buy), constantly got viewings on our current flat (rented), my mam's partner is in hospital after emergency surgery on a blocked bowel yesterday, work is a total nightmare as I'm doing unfamiliar things with little input from others. Each time I get on top of one thing, something else goes tits up. Just trying to soldier on though - looking forward to a quiet night tonight to get my head together.

    Cooking

This was my first one and it was a bit anaemic but tasted canny. Chicken & spinach with a bit of salad cream.

I'll start the ball rolling with my plan for tonight, which is loosely based on this: http://allrecipes.co...m-pancakes.aspx That looks amazing. If we bother I'll probably have 'em with chicken & some leftover spinach. Can't be doing with the sugar/lemon rubbish.

    Weekend Plans?

Their drummer died last night so I imagine the gig is off. So I hear, terrible shame.

    Weekend Plans?

Today: Gym, follow football results then watch our match, then going to see the New Age Jam in Gosforth for the first time in years. Tomorrow: Have a wander around the Chinese New Year celebrations in town then possibly over to the mother in law's for Sunday dinner. Meeting my sister and brother in law for a few pints later in the afternoon.
  16. I used to love where the treadmills were at my gym because they were lined up in front of a row of TVs. Come Dine With Me was always a good one for the time I'm there, as was The Chase because the questions were shown on the screen so you didn't need the sound. Unfortunately they've recently moved them so they're pointing out a window where nothing happens - rubbish.
  17. If there's nothing to tell, they won't bother. Some solicitors are just shit. Unfortunately the stage you're at it wouldn't be worth withdrawing your instruction and taking your business elsewhere. You'll just have to know for next time and give appropriate feedback. Could always lodge a formal written complaint, but as she's one of the owners you never know how seriously it will be taken. Also, I wouldn't necessarily take everything the estate agent says at face value - they're often several days out of date with their information. In any chain you always get the chinese whispers factor as well so it can be very difficult to get correct information. Not much help. I know, but I hope you can get sorted.
  18. Had already booked a table at tea time as we had a voucher that needed using, then my Gran wanted to go out for lunch for her birthday (how dare she). Gym session was rotten anyway, might as well not have bothered.
  19. Dead easy to get back into it I've eaten well during the week and having a rest day today but will be in the gym at 9am when it opens tomorrow. That said, I'll be having 2 Italian meals out tomorrow so I really need a good workout in beforehand.
  20. Bit of a shock was it Aye
  21. Stubbed my toe, nearly fell down the stairs and had to wear wet trousers for work as they hadn't dried. But I'm fairly clumsy and I did only do the washing last night so I can't really blame the day.

    Children

I'm 26 and can't imagine ever feeling "ready" to have children. At the moment I'm FAR too selfish to even consider it - when I hear friends talk about their evenings and weekends revolving around the kids it just sounds awful to me as I like my own time too much. Obviously I know feelings change over time so maybe when I'm a little older I'll feel different, as I'm sure has been the case for many others. Can't help but think I'd be a terrible mother anyway. I'd quite like my sister to have a baby so I can sample some of the experience - my boyfriend has nieces and nephews but they're ranging in age from about 7-18 and although we've been together 6 years I've never felt like an auntie to them.
  23. A good run on the treadmill has cheered me up a bit.
  24. January blues have well and truly hit the last few days. I realised though that I usually have at least one decent night out/weekend away to look forward to early in the year and this year I've got absolutely nothing until May when I'm spending a few nights in London. Going to have to get something sorted like.

Himself made a decent madras last night with one of those curry pastes. Dead easy, though personally I'd probably choose a different kind myself rather than a madras.
