Very very disappointed although not surprised. We've been quoted stupid money for ST's because clubs are fully aware of our situation AND absolutely shocking planning work from the board as well as them penny pinching on KEY deals. However, the window in my opinion has been decent. Yes we lost Nolan, Barton and Jose but that wasnt really a shock. It was expected and known about for months. their reasons for wanting to leave are another story. We brought in Cabaye who i think is going to be an absolutely fantastic signing (Replacement and improvement on Nolan eventually). Ba could become crucial, needs to sort himself out and push hard to get in the team. Same with Marveaux. Santon is a fantastic signing, gonna give us something new at LB. Shame we left it so late in getting Ridgewell who could of played LB. Obertan will give us pace and has shown a few nice final balls. Abeid and Situ (if its confirmed) will progress in reserves.

Not a surprise. Should of made a Ruiz bid yesterday. Not getting anyone in now unless all hush hush until 11. Doubt it though.

Davide Santon signs a 5 year deal with Newcastle United

Against Spurs as well. Looks like he is attack minded, good with his feet too. Will definitely give us something new from LB. Interesting who he will forge a partnership best with...Jonas or Marveaux. -

This. But if we could get a LB as well then get him straight on the right. Thats unlikely though so as it is, going into the QPR game in two weeks..... ---Krul--- Raylor---Saylor---Colo---Santon -
I'd like to see Vuckic get the chance through the middle like.

Simon Bird on Ashley, Pardew and Newcastle United
Deano replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in Newcastle Forum
In my opinion Simon Bird is a pretty good journalist. That was a pretty spot on article. It would be nice to see us really go for it thmora....surprisingly. -
Will be pretty depressing if we bring in Macheda. If he was the only striker we got then yes i'd agree. I'd like us to get him on loan AND a permanent deal for another.

Fantastic signing! Credit where credit is due lads. Santon is a real wonderkid prospect and to get him here for 5mil on a 5 year contract is, no matter which way you paint the picture...ambition. I have a sneaky feeling we mite yet see a big bid for a striker thmora. Back this up Mike and go fuckin get Sturridge as well! I'd fuckin love it if FMA went crazy and got Cissokho as well! Linked with Dempsey and Cisse today...both would be good signings. -

Ba's 26 with a decent goal scoring record throughout his career. So I'd hardly call him potential. Yes, he's looked poor for us so far, but it's far too early to be writing him off. Aye, think the Ba example is harsh. Proven track record and although he's been unspectacular for us so far I have genuine hope he can get us regular goals. Love him to get off the mark against QPR and see how he goes from there. Yes. He was free, but still comes with a decent track record. Fitness is, and always has been an issue with him but i think he will come good. It was a nice assist in his cameo appearance. He is the one who should be playing with "The new striker" until Barfa comes back and is challenging his position in the team. Best, Shola, Sameobi and Lovenkrands in reserve. In that order. -

Absolutely. Would be a very good signing and at 5mil, poses potentially as very good deal indeed. (Tiote/Barfa'esq) No. Deano in "What should happen'land. Thats not what im expecting to actually happen, its what i think needs to happen. However, this lad made his name as a right footed LB and if that is who we are bringing in to replace Jose then im also happy with that. Just means Simpson has to sort his head out and up his game at RB because he has been poor, and possibly understandably so what with his daughter. Maybe he shouldnt be in the team right know, giving him the time to sort his life out and going with at R.Taylor and the young lad Santon at LB. Didnt someone say he was expected for a medical thmora? Whats the latest in this? -

Our previous dealings with Inter werent bad at all. Fair'ish prices for players who bought into the clubs philosophy then and wanted to try their hand in the english game. Pistone was somewhere inbetween Domi and Charvet in terms of quality. With a Maldini expectations. Not too dissimilar to Coloccini's arrival here but for much less money. He wasnt bad, just didnt suit the PL then. That applied to all three of our signings from Inter. Martins scored some amazing goals for us, his debut goal in europe and the one against Blackburn were memorable, he just didnt have the ethic or drive for the PL. His career after us shows this. Emre was out best of the three imo. Worked hard, i liked his mentality and technical ability, created plenty of goals and scored a few too but all in all he wasnt suited to the PL neither. Anyway, my point is Santon shouldnt come here with an expertations or pressure other than he is a young lad, has a impressive CV into his career but it's all about how he adapts. Tiote done it well, Coloccini, Jose and Jonas took a year but are solid. If we get him in and it seems likely, i really hope it is as a 1st team RB as well as a new LB, Cissokho. Then we would have two "quality" fullbacks to support us both in attack and defence. -
In the interests of balance, how would you feel if we got none of the above? Gutted but not surprised. Not being funny mate but you have nothing to base that off. The current set up in midfield is working well so why put someone in who has only one "competitive" match to his name against a league 1 club. Nothing? Marveaux is left footed and best position is LM. Jonas is right footed and would be better on the right. Arent you the kid who used to actually have good banta on msn on matchdays?
-
Marveaux should be playing on the left and Jonas on the right. Obertan off the bench. Simples. Imagine that with Santon RB and Cissokho LB with a new striker....i'd fuckin cum in my pants.

I wouldn't blame him for having his mind on his prematurely born daughter's fight for health like. I understand that but i'd of thought it would of been better to give him time off. Then again...if we had a LB then he probably would have. -
Newcastle United v Fulham --- Sunday 1.00pm Kick Off
Deano replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in Newcastle Forum
Agreed. Its gonna take Barfa a good 4 weeks to get up to speed and get his confidence once he is back in training. Gosling will be a decent squad player. But on today...It was a great result but a poor performance with regards to controlling the game and being a force, however that "team spirit" is definitely there. Even with no Barton or Nolan. Few positives....Krul is outstanding, really is a young VDS. Cabaye looking dangerous and quite a complete central midfielder. Central defence has signs of becoming a solid partnership 1 in 3 PL games. Obertan showed good pace and a couple of final balls today. Him, Marveaux and Jonas give us pace on the wings. Best scored two but was shite otherwise. Still...if he is gonna score then always an option off the bench. Him, Shola and Ba should be no more than that. Lovenkrands is fucking finished. Should be nowhere near the match day squad. Sameobi and Vuckic should be ahead of him. Today has highlighted even more so that with a quality LB and ST in we will become a good force this season. Also that RB is an issue also. 3 point, gritty win and going into the break in 6th. 7 points out of nine and only conceded once against Arsenal (they are fucked - Wenger to be 1st manager out) Sunderland and Fulham as well as a place in the next round of the CC. There will be a good buzz around the place and come our trip to QPR after a nice two week break...with a new ST and LB and full of confidence, i really think we will hammer them. Happy days!! -

More of a RB but if we could get him in AND push through a deal for Pieters as well as a striker i will be VERY happy. I'd get rid of Simpson like. He is shit and by the looks of him this season isnt a happy chappy. -
Really starting to look the part. Its gonna be one hell of a central midfield pairing once he has totally found his feet and Tiote gets into his form. Looked more of a threat attackingwise today. Unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions and really does have not only an eye for a clever pass which will create a fair few goals this year but alot of technical ability too. He is bound to score soon like.
-
Cole is better than Shola....if we hadn't got Ba I wouldn't of minded gettin him so long as we got the top quality strikers as well. Now though, if CC is to be our main man then I'd be seriously pissed off. Bendtner or Sturridge really should be priorities!
-
It would of been a nice boost to of got him in before Fulham thmora but chances are he wouldn't of played anyway. As long as we get him in next week along with the striker we so badly need then it will be all good having them in training during the international break.
-
We didn't pay that much for him so if it were possible I actually would like th club to release this prickly. Cut the ties and nip this one in the blood innit.

Thats exactly how i would like us to line up as well. Probably more likely that Best and Shola will start. Either way i hope Vuckic and Sameobi get on the pitch on Sunday. -
To say it was his second game since November i thought he done alright like. Definitely have him and Jonas and the wings if Barton does go. Fulham side? ---Krul--- Raylor---Saylor---Coloccini---Pieters? Jonas---Cabaye---Tiote---Marveaux Strola---Sameobi Most likely to see Obertan and Jonas on the wings on sunday though.
-
Glad someone else has seen this. I also think, tin hat on time, that Simpson has looked dodgy as well. I dont know about dropped completely like. Thats not gonna do any good for team spirit. I'd have him a RB or RM on Sunday and give Simpson a fuckin rocket. He has been shit so far and has done nothing but moan and argue on the pitch. Fuckin manc bastard.

So on the back of the win at Scunthorpe, do you guys think we can win it this season? Do we have a chance? How would you approach it.....Blood youth and rest key players or have a go at it? A piece of silver wear would be nice, i'd rather we went for the FA Cup this year but if youth can get us far then why not have a go. The draw is on Saturday.
