Ah, and that's me thinking this might be another cooking thread...

Step up from Souness then... 51549 Actually, I do like Souness as a person. His humour is very subtle, though.
-
I don't rate him He is funny - and that's it.

I agree, but if we go on a good run we should leave him alone tbh. The league's wide open (from 2nd down) and Chelsea are out of the cup we have the best chance in. We also don't have Europe to fatigue us! We could have a very good season from here on. 51430 We already had the problem with good runs clouding people's views last season. I'm not getting excited by beating the likes of Sunderland, Grimsby and WBA. Especially if the performances are overall poor. I stop complaining about Souness at the moment when results and performances are getting better on a more permanent basis and against better opposition. I don't mind Souness getting things right, I just doubt his ability.

Wow, those "articles" cropping up again. Those who were twisted in the tabloids all the time? Those who got translated by N-U-T beforehand and had often nothing in common with what was being read into it by Anal Oliver? And the "well timed" article where he just said that the team hadn't been good enough during the season, including himself? I wrote it at that time and I say it again, if this article was selfish I still don't know what dropping Robert who had been responsible for most of the goals that got Souness and Shepherd out of the fire (e.g. Holland) dropping for the two most important matches in a season was. We all know Robert was selfish, we all know Robert was very inconsistent, we all know his defensive work was lacking guile. We all should know that he was still instrumental in getting Newcastle into the top places. 51409 And some of us know that by the time we peddled him he was a shadow of that player that got us into the top places. 51420 Though, some of us knew this even when he was getting us in those places...

Doh! I'd suggest that if Mr Souness goes this route we'll be playing 4-5-1 more than 4-3-3. Also, you claim he might play 4-3-3 at home. So does that mean you reckon he'll play 4-4-2 away and if so how is 4-3-3 going to be used for the majority of the time? 50269 First up, i'm guessing at what Souness might do not what i'd do. I think he think's 4-3-3 is a more attacking formation, so does Johan Cruyff by the way. So i think he might try 4-3-3 more at home and maybe away if he thinks he can or if he needs to come back from a goal down. Personally i was interested to see how 4-3-3 might work but after watching the highlights of Manure against Spurs (1st half Manure playing 4-4-2) reminded of how sweet it is to watch an attacking team play 4-4-2 properly. Right now i just care about the results so whatever formation they line up in won't overly concern me as long as we get the points. People say Chelsea are boring but i reckon their fans get plenty of entertainment just looking at the table nevermind going to the match! 50289 Yes, but Cruijf does believe in wingers...

Though the problem is, how often will we see a side without any injuries during a season, maybe in 5-10 games if everything is perfect. The fact is that still the manager can send on a decent squad in most games, i.e. against West Ham, Wigan etc. And even if those games against Sunderland and Grimsby got won, it was against very poor teams, were the team still struggled. Of course you can say, that the team did what was necessary, but in if fact a only slightly better teams like those last two probably would beat us.

Agreed. Not entirely sure why it isn't either. I don't bother with it as much as I used to though.... 49619 It seems to have lost its inside stories for some reason. Without the usually accurate stories on signings etc (rather than rehashes of the Ronnie Gill), it is just another website fanzine really. 49641 Well, I used to like their post match waffles, but I don't think they are as witty as they have been before. I do blame Souness. I am not reading the site as much nowadays as I used to do.

Thanks for pointing that out dad, I'll see if I can find where I've obviously misplaced my sense of humour. By the way humour is subjective very much like opinions and smilies. You are wrong I do have a sense of humour, I find everything you write hilarious, FACT tbh. 49578 Though, you are that serious about everything that I think you should be given a Jorman passport for extraordinary merits in lack of humour.

??? At least this is an award that is somewhat respectable unlike the FIFA nonsense.
-
Do you think that crossbar saved Souness' job? 48677 Very likely. I was more impressed when Souness and his staff where hugging each other after the first goal and doing the hoorayanotherweekinthejobdance.

It's interesting that people before the match were drawing up the scenario of Newcastle playing superbly but not winning, now in my eyes second half's performance was woeful at the best. Sunderland were very, very lucky to equalize with what were screamers that came out of nothing, but in the end they were unlucky in losing this game.

What's the point in explaining you complex matters when you already struggle with using google properly tbh.

I love the way Moore keeps getting judged when he's not even played for us yet... 48461 I love the way Moore keeps getting injured and is not even going to play for us ever...

A piece from todays Guardian http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/...1598572,00.html Make out of it what you want...

Wanting to lose? No. Not being totally devastated when a poor result - and that's includes a draw - meant the end of this joke of a manager is something different. And O-N, of course he has some bad luck with injuries, though I am still unsure how much is house-made, but he still can pick players who can and should do better (Faye and Amoebi excluded). Every player today who starts for Newcastle would most likely easily walk in the first team of Sunderland, either if he is a regular first team player or a fringe player. Anything less than a win is not acceptable from these kind of players.

What I don't get about this injury malarky and the blaming of the pitch is that if the pitch is as described, i.e. too hard and not giving way, then I'd rather expect loads of ligament injuries and not muscle injuries.

Jewel quest is the biggest waste of time. I still want those two hours back from when I got to 190,000... so how insane must the current champion be...

The bits I've highlighted describe Robert perfectly IMO. 47545 True. Will he be as good at what Robert did well though? 47546 If he plays in England like he did in Spain, he'll be 10 times the player Robert was. Unfortunately, that's not guaranteed. 47663 What are you saying, that Lucky is inconsistent? That sounds familiar. 47685 I think he rather said, that's different to be class player in Spain and being able to do the same in England. From what I have seen I would also say that Luque has the potential to be far better than Robert (and I have been one of his greatest apologetics for his obvious shortcomings), though if he not adapts to the English league he can potentially be a flop. I think he won't and under a capable manager he hopefully will be avle to show his class.
