I haven't heard from Eversheds yet...

We all know he is selfish and is talking shite like a little bairn. Though, when reading his interviews as they were published on his website in his mother tongue and as they were translated (first by Teena and later by O-Nut) and published on nufc.com you have to be a fool not to spot the difference of what the tabloid made of of these interviews and what he really said. I remember those times we were taking the piss out of what the tabloids could make out of these interviews... I still want to get pointed to only one interview he did that did Newcastle really harm ... in his time as a Newcastle player. Especially the one when he got banned from the first team against Lisbon. Who was more selfish that time? The manager or Robert? 61720 Well I personally can't be arsed to go searching through Laurent Robert's whiny interviews. But I remember him getting on my tits with his victim act on numerous occasions while he was at Newcastle. A bit of professionalism from the bloke wouldn't go amiss. Looks like his career at Pompey is over now too - who's the common denominator in all of this? 61723 Well, I actually don't care about his interviews (or of those of any professionals). I only read them to amuse myself. But what I don't like is when words get twisted by the press. And the tabloids have a history with it. They have a xenophobic agenda (but they also do it with certain English players). I only judge players by their football talking. Robert was far from being consistent. And his contribution at Portsmouth does speak for itself. But what counts for me is what he did at Newcastle. And I think with Robert in the team Newcastle were a better team than they are now. If this whiny, selfish Frenchman would have been replaced by a hardworking and as creative player I wouldn't give a toss what he is doing now. Today I saw Newcastle being overrun in the second half by a very mediocre Premiership side. And I am f***ing annoyed. 61729 His contribution at Newcastle "spoke for itself" in the year or so leading up to his departure too. The bloke is finished in this country unless he has a serious word with himself. It's a shame because he's a great player when he wants to be. 61731 I do not disagree. Shame we couldn't replace him with someone better so far (unless you see Luque as a right (i.e. left) w(h)inger ... tbh.

The thing is I am a very shy person. And when not really having to work I probably will stick to museums etc. and not really going to talk to anyone. Those three months could bre realy boring then. In England I could easily get myself drunk and talk to anybody...

Next summer I will work for three months abroad in a big law firm. I do try to get a job at a firm in Edinburgh, but I was relying on my qualifications but it is more difficult than I thought. Anyway, I still have the option to go to Nottingham as a backup as there is a law firm for whose partner I worked here in Jormany. But on Friday this law firm offered me the chance to go to Barcelona as they have an office there. This was added with a "wink, wink, nudge, nudge..." basically meaning they wouldn't expect me to do real work over there. Unfortunately my Spanish is really, really crap. Actually it is really, really, really crap. I only can follow the newspaper and that's more or less only the sports section (because I know the names of the players). I'd like to work in England because actually I could see my future working at a university over there (teaching European and Jorman law). On the other side three months in Barcelona for doing nothing and just learning the language sounds too good to be true... I really have to make my mind up...

Who else was in stitches when seeing the minute of silence and the Everton scoreboard with the big George Best picture... with the adverts "Chang beer" all around... :

"He told the News of the World...". That was enough for me actually. After having read so many wrong translated interviews (not only concerning Robert, more importantly in the "political" section as well) I don't believe a single word I read in this piece of shit!

Contrary to the impression I might give, but I am absolutely devasteted whenever Newcastle loses. The only small consolation I always get is that I think that at some stage the board has to realise that they made a big, big mistake when giving the job to the most important person at the club... I think todays feelings are those we have to suffer until the end of the season.

While we are at it... Anal's quotes on Emre's hearing: "It is understood FIFA is interviewing only those players who were allegedly involved in the bust-up in the tunnel and it is hard to imagine Emre was one of them, unless it was as a peacemaker. For he has been the perfect gentleman both on and off the field since he arrived from Inter Milan in the summer for £4.5m.! Hmm, strange that the FIFA official and the international press are thinking differently...
-
I blame the pitch. Or the studs. Or the referee. Or the baggage retrieval they got at Heathrow...
-
Hooray more anti-french bollocks in a xenophobic Sunday "news"paper. Now I know where fat ginger bastard Gemill got his education from... BTW: Ronaldo got cleared because of the lack of evidence (just in case the NOTW didn't tell you)...
-
Exactly. But you can only live with that, if you have enough cover...

Quoted for truth. Personally, I'd carry Joaquin from Seville if he were to sign for us ! 61119 As much as I'd like to see a player like Joaquin at Newcastle I do think it is a bit deluded to say "Howay, we signed Owen, so we can sign any player in the world." Money is a big objection. Newcastle are not in a position where they can throw with sums like 16m around. Especially as Newcastle already have paid 8m for Boumsong, 4m for Emre, 6m for Parker as well. And of course 10m for Luque. So even if you have to speculate to accumulate you have to have a bit of sense though. Recouping money for 60-70m in transfer fees is very difficult, even if you have success ... which nobody can guarantee. In my eyes the rumour remains bullshit.
-
Before the clique is hijacking another thread, can anyone tell me now if Luque is a left winger (or a defensive midfielder)?
-
The FIFA official from Poland who observed the game was speaking for the first time to the press. Terim and Alpay kicked in the door of the referee's dressing room. He also mentioned Emre being one of the main culprits of the brawl. He reckoned those players and staff members involved will receive bans between 1 and 2 years.

Just to avoid more confusion. I herewith declare that I am not westendlad, Neil, Sammy, Cheyne/Adidas/Tyne/Benni/Li3nz, Gemmill, Bridget or SLP. I am not Graeme Souness either. I'm SPARTACUS.
-
Thank you Chronical Alan, you gave me the best laugh for ages! So if talk about Viduka and Anelka are wide of the mark and the fees are probibitve why are you linking us with two Spanish players who are even more expensive?
-
They were all too busy reading this thread...

It's just that journalists are not creative enough (i.e. too lazy) to make new stories up. So you get served the same stories again and again... I expect Anal Oliver to come up with Brett Emerton again very soon.

I'm so glad I live somewhere else...

So you're partly defending Robson suggesting that Viana wasn't necessarily a bad signing (in that he is/was a talented player I presume), yet you're saying its Robson's fault his signing turned out the way it did? 58437 Exactly. I don't want to start of another 'is he/isn't he left winger/defensive midfielder' argument but I think if he was given a chance in the middle he could've made it. 58570 I disagree, yes Robson got it wrong by playing him out of position but if you look at Viana's last two seasons he has exactly set the world alight with his return to the centre of the pitch and I think SBR saw from training that Hugo would be slaughtered playing in the centre hence he used him on the wing in a damage limitation move when playing him. Isegrim as much as we all agree with your logic it has been obvious, as chayton said, that Souness is here for the season and only if the team looks like being in a relegation battle would he be sacked. It's obvious the fat man's geordie dream is only a season away and Souness is the tool to clean out the dressing-room for Shearer's reign. 58749 Without signing Owen we would be in a relegation battle. How long does Souness contract run?
-
Well, when I saw the fixture list I said Souness will be gone after the ManUre game. And I still think Souness would have got sacked if it hadn't been for the negotiations which lead to the signing of Owen. Without Owen I think we would have 6-9 points less. Regardless of what Sheephearts plans are, when not having success then you are walking straight onto a point of no return. Losing against Blackburn for example would have been such a point.

Whoa! I've just started getting a funny noise when I turn my steering wheel to the right too. I'm taking it to the garage tomorrow because it's worryingly lout. Sort of a clunky grinding noise. 58550 You just want another day off tbh.
