  1. Oh aye he’s been a massive difference. The question is just is that just because he’s an actual leftback compared to Ritchie playing there, or is he really good. I’m undecided still but I certainly think he’s playing well at the moment.
  2. Woman's cricket has smaller boundaries than mens because quite clearly the majority of women cricketers can’t hit the ball as far as their male counterparts. It’s not suggesting they are any less skilled rather it puts them at a disadvantage to be compared on exactly the same basis. Personally I find womens tennis just as entertaining as mens and in the grand slams they play shorter matches than the men. It makes it a better quality, more entertaining spectacle to recognise the differences between men and women in sport and there’s no reason not to follow this in football too.
  3. Not convinced Nketiah is better than Wilson like. Yes Wilson is problematic on the fitness front but he’s a quality player other than that. If we’re replacing Wilson I want it to be with better not just fitter.
  4. Targett has impressed me more than I thought him capable of, but him being miles better than playing Ritchie at leftback doesn’t mKe him player of the season and doesn’t mean we maybe should be looking for better next season. I’m certainly conflicted that I might be being harsh on him especially when I thought he was excellent the last two games.
  5. Aye I’ve got a mate who’s a lot younger than me who’s being saying for years that’s Hayden is our best player and the best midfielder he’s seen here. Poor fucker had only ever witnessed Ashley’s Newcastle so I suppose it’s difficult for him to understand how a midfielder is supposed to play.
  6. I’ve been crying out for a midfielder like Bruno for years. Having to suffer immobile plodders like Hayden has driven me close tears. Bruno is already quite clearly our best player and along with Trippier the most important for moving us forward. But his time for player of the season I’m sure will come. But I just can’t look past Joe because his turnaround and his contribution since that Norwich game have been immense.
  7. He’s not our best player and he still needs to improve aspects of his game further, but for the transformation from punchline to one of the first names on the team sheet it can only be BUJ.
  8. Including Hayden will drop the value to about £250k
  9. That's exactly what I'm saying. If he can play well with what should be better players in front of him he may still be useful for another season.
  10. He's never relied on it but it's been the thing, imo, that's held him back from being a much better player. It's also been the thing that, again imo, more than anything else that has resulted in the amount of cards he has picked up over the years. If he starts getting any slower he's going to be a liability.
  11. Totally agree with Andrew. His lack of mobility, which is only going to get worse at his age, means we need to be looking to replace him in the summer. Giving contract extentions to players who aren't good enough has caused us problems for years so I don't see any desire in renewing his unless he can improve quite a bit next season with better players around him. If he can then a short term extension may be worthwhile but I suspect it will be at that stage that ties are cut. ASM is a totally different proposition. He is certainly frustrating but he's still young enough to improve, particularly with better players around him. And we shouldn't be forgetting that for most of this season he's been our only player who produced anything going forward. He's still our second top scorer and has the most assists and chances created. In a team with more attacking ability, like we should be next season, he will get more space and could well prove even more dangerous.
  12. After reading that thread on their forum, I came up with two conclusions. There is a low level of literacy amongst their fanbase and there are still a lot of them who can't see what a complete fraud Bruce is. In the same vein as Edwards, there is still a fair few of them saying the players just aren't good enough and there's nothing Bruce can do with them. I don't imagine I've watched a West Brom game since we last played them but I'm willing to bet that given they were second earlier in the season and certainly had a very realistic chance of a playoff place when Mrs Doubtfire was appointed, they have players who, properly coached and motivated, could achieve more than the point a game he's managed with them so far.
  13. I stopped reading that love supreme article when it suggested that their mecano stadium, that from what I’ve witnessed is no different to that of Wigan or Middlesbrough (two teams they’ll only be dreaming of playing next term), is one of the best stadiums in the country. I’d be more proud of that shithole Roker Park if I was them. At least it had some history.
  14. Too pissed to read back through but if it’s not been mentioned, Krafth was superb today. Miggy also excellent. Two players who haven’t had much praise since Howe was appointed but if it wasn’t for Bruno being our best player by miles, these two were as important as anyone today.
  15. Even if they weren't having the struggles with FFP that they clearly are, I don't think Richarlison will be hanging around for another season. He never looks happy there (that may be just him being a miserable fucker) and I think there will plenty of interest in him this summer. I'm not convinced DCL is as good as his performance last season suggested. The Everton supporter I know doesn't rate him at all and reckons that there is a lot more of them who feel the same. I agree that if they do stay up the media will be right behind fat Frank so I don't see them sacking him (finances will play a part in that too) and I'm in no way convinced he's a good enough manager to move them forward. They will probably be better than this season but I don't see them having anything like a good season.
  16. Went to Leicester last game of the season we nearly went where the mackems have been for years now. David Kelly had to jump into the stand for safety after we went 1-0 up. There was all sorts being thrown from their end into our stand. Horrible cunts.
  17. I was also in the East Stand, and turned to the bloke next to me at 3-1 and said "Mind Shearers done fuck all today!".
  18. Even with Bruce in charge for far too long this season, we've avereaged just over a point a game. In the last 15 games it's about 1.5 points per game. If we revert back to our seasons average in our remaining matches we'll get to 39 points no problem. There's no way we go down with that total this season. As it is, I think it's far more likely we break the 40 point barrier. I'm very confident we will be playing in this division next season.
  19. I'm certain there would be some now who would stay away if they were bought by Putin or whoever simply because they have said they would if they were us and they couldn't bare to be shown up as the hypocrites we know they really are. But they're only kidding themselves if they try to claim there'd be any mass boycott. Nobody else is buying that.
  20. Yesterday was a bit of a wakeup call for all of us. There's still a lot of players there that aren't good enough, most of us knew this, but I'm not convinced all of the new players are as good as what they have appeared to be in that great run either. Burn had a brilliant start but he's no Maldini he's just a decent player. Same with Tragett. Personally I'm far from convinced that we should be signing Targett permanently in the summer. The complete shit show we've had at leftback for years (particularly this season with Ritchie having to play there) has mean that a merely competent player has looked far better than that. Wood has done the job we needed him to do but shouldn't be more than back up if we have the aspirations that we are supposed to have. If I'm being honest the only two players we have who I'm totally convinced have the ability to step up are Trippier and Bruno. If Joelinton continues to learn the midfield position and improves anything like he has done this season then he may too. ASM may well more consistenly be able to show his quality with better players around him but at the moment he's still mixing the magic with dross far too often (the fact that the opposition know he's our only big threat certainly makes him easier to play against mind). I am liking Howe's reaction to the game. He knows where we are as a team and knows that we shouldn't have tried to chase the game and leave ourselves as wide open as we did. I'm not suggesting we should be going in against the top sides and playing as deep as we did with cabbage heed, clearly that got us nowhere anyway, but we have to be more understanding of where we still are as a team. I said all along I'd be happy with a couple of points from these last four games and we got three so I'm not remotely concerned that we will go down. I'm still confident that we'll get the three or four points we need over these next four games. But if we're going to move into the top half let alone any further up the league, there's a lot to be done in the summer.
  21. I think suggesting he's not well gives him far more credit than he deserves.
  22. Edwards has lost any inside track on information since his bacon sarnie buddy was shipped out. This story may turn out to be roughly correct as it doesn't take a genius to understand that we do have to take FFP into account but very few people were expecting us to suddenly be in the market for Neymar and Mbappe despite what some of the southern press would like to make people believe. An outlay of around £60m along with additional funds from sales could easily add three £25m-£30m players to the squad which could improve us massively. Then there's free transfers on top of that. Of course the big difference now as oppose to the last 15 years is that if we have a budget of £60m it won't also include the wages and other fees meaning that we can only afford one £20m player.
  23. Has mackem logic been formally introduced into pyschiatric training manuals now?
