  1. Love the hesitation from Roeder here. He's shitting it because he hasn't practiced pronouncing his name http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zC95vh3jB
  2. Would've been great if we'd managed to get a permit for Friedel. I wonder what Jimmy Crawford is up to these days.... He could probably be a decent squad player for my local club.
  3. And what exactly would be a "north american surname?" Sitting Bull?
  4. he's smiling now, obviously hasnt been introduced to the likes of Titus Bramble, Steven Carr etc yet Steven Carr wouldn't be as tall as Gooch if you stretched out his bulk.
  5. Koller is 7'1" tbf. The Czechs killed us. They completely overran our midfield and Koller was a monster. I think that the Czechs would have qualified for the second round if he'd not got injured against us.
  6. Because I'm in a generous mood, one for Meenzer:
  7. If you're going to have pictures of cheerleaders, you've gotta go with Clemson cheerleaders since Gooch still gives love to the Tigers. (It's a clemson shirt he's got on, but nice afro)
  8. P.S. Gooch does not have dreads. They're cornrows.
  9. I get the feeling you over-rate him because he's American. No offence like. I don't think he's going to solve our defensive problems. As I've said earlier, he's an unproven player with a lot of potential. There are few places where it's harder to play well than the Azteca against Mexico, but I'm not sure he won't encounter one or two of them playing in the Premier League. He has the potential to be a beast, but he's not going to totally organize our defense, and he's not the right player to be pinning our hopes on. I'm rather realistic in my appraisal of American players I believe; there are very few that I would rate as good enough to help out NUFC. I've seen plenty of comments saying that he's similar to Bramble with the mistakes he makes. I've never seen him kick fresh air on a clearance. Where are said comments? I'm not disputing that he may make similar mistakes, just wondering who's making them. Mainly on No, so it'll probably mean nothing Tends to be the Belgian fans saying it. Belgian fans probably have more to gauge him on than I; I've seen all 17 of his international appearances. Some against the likes of Panama and Morocco. Hardly the cream of the Premiership. That being said, he performed well against Italy and I would argue Ghana in the World Cup. His performance against the Czechs was disappointing, but that could be said about the whole team, so it's hard to put much of the blame on a debutant center back.

  12. Aye, I've seen every one of his 17 caps for the US. The kid's a beast. He's 6'2" 180 lbs. He's got quite a lot of potential and has realized a fair amount of it. 'Gooch' is one of the most popular players currently in the US Squad, having had most of the "chuch norris facts" attributed to him at one point or another. He's famous for 'staring down' Jared Borgetti at a world cup qualifier in 2005. In this region, most teams will kick you when down, pinch you in the ass etc, to get a rise out of you. Gooch looks like the kind of guy they could rile up so they went after him but just got the stare. He's a hell of a player, but I don't want him here. We'd just ruin him. He's SO leaning away from him in that pic, looks like he's bricking it tbh. Gotta look at it in full motion to get the real idea of it, tbh. I'lll see if I can find it on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yk1iJ3ETQ6Y...ted&search= About 3 minutes into it.. Borgetti squares upto him and he backs off.... He takes a step away to be fair, but he was moving in that direction before Borgetti squares up to him, and Gooch is in a position to see the referee coming at them. If we showed too much aggression with that referee, he'd have been booked.
  13. Borguetti scored in the first game--marked by Onyewu--and was a complete non-factor in the second. The first game was Onyewu's 3rd cap and in the Azteca. As I said in the other thread, better players than he have wilted under the conditions in that stadium.
  14. TBF, the first Mexico game was his third cap, a bit harsh to judge at the Azteca anyways. It was a bad mistake, but I give him the benefit of the doubt. He seems to have learned from that experience. Better players than he have wilted in that stadium.

  16. Make your mind up! I can be excited and worried at the same time can't I?
  17. He is no Craig Moore Thank fuck for that I bet he drinks Bud light You think he gets to be that size on rat's piss? At least he doesn't drink Fosters.
  18. He is no Craig Moore Thank fuck for that
  19. Fuck me I'm all excited now. We've signed someone and he's even someone I rate and is American. What a way to start a Monday.
  20. Gooch is as good as two quarter backs. He's a half back.
  21. He's not going to be cowed by Bramble/Taylor/Ramage etc. However, I'm not sure he's the guy to lead a team, I think he could do a decent job of marshalling a defense. Not as good as he could be in that respect, though.
  22. Could be if we ruin him. However he's proven that he *can* concentrate for 90 minutes in the past.
  23. Are you suggesting that we don't desperately need quality central defenders? Do you still think we need central defenders more than forwards?
  24. I thought those numbers seemed low, but I got them off a us fan site. The US Soccer Federation site concurs with your numbers. http://www.ussoccer.com/bio/index.jsp_78442.html
  25. No. I wouldn't put him at right back either. I MIGHT trust him at a DM spot (he's no Viana) but I don't think I'd see him anywhere but CB. Might do a job up front late in a match though.
