Death count lowered to four confirmed currently. 20~25 still missing though, presumed dead.

Yeah, we'll see how many more bodies they pull out of the river today, but if it's under 20-25 it would be a miracle. Aye, it's a recovery operation now Just re-read the first post (as I'd already seen it on the news when I opened this). 500 yards from where you live? Fucking hell! Aye, just a rumble a shake and a boom, and then I looked out the window and it was just surreal. Huge plumes of black smoke... It's a bizarre sight this morning. The eight-lane freeway is deserted, and the bridge next door is closed for the recovery operation. Traffic is a mess as that bridge carried a TON of traffic. Probably around 1/3 of the traffic that crosses the river each rush hour...

Apparently not; it had been inspected in 2005 and 2006 and showed only "preliminary signs of fatigue" i.e. it was expected to need structural repair in 2020. They had been working on resurfacing it, redoing the de-icing mechanisms and replacing guardrails, but that's hardly going to cause the structural integrity to collapse. I don't think one thing could cause it to collapse, it's going to have to have been several things all going wrong at the same time, like an air liner crash.

This is less than 500 yards from where I live. From the BBC

Better GM than Lalas I'd bet...

Cleaning horse manure. Only did it once as part of a groundskeeping job but it fucking stank.

Agreed.

Put in my notice yesterday and will likely try to sneak out a tad early tomorrow.

I do like the fact that it's selling for over 35 grand but the shipping is only $15

Loving it, thanks. Best decision of my life so far, though to be fair, it's been 8 months so I expect this is still a honeymoon period.

tbh, I used to post constantly. In the early days of the board, Camil, Alex, me and Jill were vying for the most posts. I was second for some time. Then I hit a point where i had to devote all my time to writing my Thesis. This was only about four weeks, but I found when I came back that I wasn't as interested in a lot of what was going on. Partly I was too lazy to catch up on certain things tttt, but also I felt that things were sort of becoming more and more talking about the piss ups and such which I obviously can't get to. Now and then there's a good thread on here that has something that I can actually comment on, but more frequently than not, there's nothing of any value that I feel I can add to a thread so I don't see the point in spamming. I think the loss of several of the members with whom I used to have the most interaction (being in a different timezone) - Jill, JJ, Camil, Koala, Steve, and a few others, coupled with this has really seen me post less. I still check this place regularly during the day, but I post much much less than I used to. That said, I have to say that I really don't have any worries about the state of this place. It all seems to be going fine and I fully expect things to be service as normal when the season gets into full swing. ta.

Do we really need to name someone as club captain? Why not give it to the most deserving player who is starting? Be it Given, Owen, Nobby, Taylor, Dyer (!) Naming one person just makes it harder to drop them if their form dips. It seems to me that the leadership would still be there. Sure maybe Owen (or someone else) will be captain most frequently but that doesn't mean they have to be captain ALL THE TIME.

Hammers battle Newcastle for Hutchinson signature
Zathras replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
I'd much rather get DeGuzman. Spectacular midfielder. I think he's gone to Deportivo though. Or DeRosario. -
Look for Sociedad to sign a number of American player then. :-p

How about the year we signed Dyer, Goma, Dumas, Domi and Marcelino. We had a great sounding new defense.....

Lalas is an idiot. Even people here think so. MLS teams would probably finish about midddle of the Championship. Keep in mind that the maximum size for an MLS team right now is about 20 players. Oh, and y'all can fuck right off. I've better things to do than argue with a bunch of frightened Brits, so I'll give you a link: Steven Wells I am not delusional enough to think MLS is anything more than a league sitting somewhere between 10th and 15th best in the world, but it's not the joke you all hope it is either.
-
Ironically, MLS is has moved in a very attacking direction recently. This season is averaging more than 2.5 goals per game. (171 goals in 65 games) And we didn't even have to enlarge the goals to do it! (In 1993 when the league was proposed, this was one of the things suggested to increase scoring.) I have found that international football has become a lot lower scoring though to be fair. You don't see the blowouts anymore. Or at least not when it isn't Australia vs. Vanuatu or USA vs. Barbados.

The leagues he's played in are no worse than several of the ones in which Pele played. It's all Bullshit, but having met the man, it's just incredible. He doesn't look like a superstar.

Boomsday- by the same guy who wrote Thankyou For Smoking.

Been taking sickies when I feel a bit under the weather since I started working here. Not too bothered if I feel fine in half an hour and still took the day off. But now I've got about five weeks sick time saved up and I'll be quitting in 15 weeks. Methinks it's time to come down with a deadly tropical virus.
-
Since he's already 26? Yeah probably.
-
This isn't some 17 yearold fledgling talent Zath, the "kid" is nearly 25, he's either good enough or he isn't. He's nearly 25 but the American player develops a lot later. They don't generally become professional players until age 22 at least. Look at McBride; his best years have been the wrong side of 30.
