Best member video in TT history. Re-up? Doubt I still have it, but I'll take a look when I get home this evening.

God those names bring back memories. I wonder why it is I no longer get around to reading/posting much on this board anymore? Used to be really enjoyable. I guess when I got onto a "normal" schedule for my time zone it just didn't work anymore I miss you guys. I'm gonna go home and do the Russian Czardas dance in memory of the good old days.

I seem to remember joining Toontastic.linuxdriven.net around 2001/2002? And then going over to Toon-Chat after that board went tits up, and finally the N-O disaster before this much more enjoyable board was begun. Back in those days, I was a big poster, IIRC. I can remember fighting with Camil (!) Gemmill, and Alex for top poster position, and being the second to get to 3000 posts. FFS, that seems like ages ago. Oh, did we ever resurrect the "Gemmill hung like a Chinese Mouse" thread on this board? Edit: I guess we (I) did. http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?showtopic=110

Your annual obligatory it's fucking freezing thread

This is a little ways south of where I live. -

Probably the wise course. Justice is open in all weather though -

Oi; read the thread. Perfectly cheered up, just still bored out of my skull. (and cold. I reserve the right to let my mood dip after my evening commute if my balls actually do freeze off.) -
-35 C this morning. Before the wind chill. Walking the five blocks to the bus stop feels like I've walked about ten miles.
-
Aye, but I'm still bored.

Don't get me wrong; I've no problem with them building a beautiful new stadium here. I *do* have a problem with paying for it, which is what they want, the public to pay for the damn thing. Communism. Already built a big new stadium for the College football team and the Baseball team in town. We don't have any money left you greedy fucks. You rake in billions per game but want us to pay for your workplace? fuck off.

Aye, this ones 9.5 acres, I think. Domed stadia were all the rage in the 70s and into the 80s. Then fell well off. The American Football team that owns this stadium has been whining for a new one for 15 years (the Metrodome was built in 1980.) I'm pissed off that they'll probably get a nice big chunk of public funding for a new stadium based on this incident.

Held up fine for the past 28 years. Would have been fine if the conditions weren't too slippery for the teams clearing the snow on the roof to keep working. Winds were getting too hard for them to keep working safely, so the snow built up too much.
-
It's not like it was a concrete/metal roof. It's a teflon, air supported dome. When there was 17 inches of wet snow, one of the panels tore, which means that air was able to escape and the pressure wouldn't hold up the dome, so it would have come down even without all the snow weighing it down (apart from the snow causing the tear, obviously). The snow certainly sped up the fall though. Drove by it today; it looks really strange. Here's a "regular" shot for comparison:

Aren't they interested in 2026? no point in anyone bidding against them if they are. Word is very strong that that's the plan for 2026, yes. However, with Qatar in 2022, and a *possibility* of change by then (Sepp has to die at some point, right?) we might see it in Europe. Or the US, or Australia. Any of those would be "reasonable" outcomes.

More effective than money is the Qatar's bid promise to dismantle the stadiums after the cup and reassemble them in "poor countries." So when in 2023 we see where they go, we can figure out how the votes were cast.
-
Russia and Qatar? I suppose it might be fun to travel to new places. What I really want to know, though, is how I can get in on the bribes.
-
What a joke.

Obsessed Aye, you think it has anything to do with the fact that many of our lot are at the match whereas fewer of their's will necessarily be able to go?

As a student of the law, I can tell you that this common law rule that the judge cites there is a very old precedent based in English law, not American law (the American common law system grew out of the common law rules that were transported from the UK. This is especially true of New York law.) Unless there has been an update in the UK to the rule, the same could happen in the UK. Also, the judge did not find the 4 year old negligent, merely that the suit could be brought. He's bound to follow the law regardless of how he feels about it; he's a lower court judge he doesn't make law. Besides, there's still the question of whether the child actually was negligent and would be liable for damages. I'm guessing no, and that the plaintiff is just wasting money on the whole thing.

Pussy. A real american would've used a gun.

Given the size of the lens on phone cameras, anything above 5 MP is a total waste. The difference between 3.2 and 5 MP on such a small lens is also unlikely to provide much of a difference. The flash on the Motorola Droid seems a nice addition, though.

If the original is best, the Palm Treo was a better phone than the iPhone was when it came out. The Palm Pre is a magnificent phone, but Palm itself seems to be on the way out I just switched from my iPhone to a MyTouch 3G (aka Magic, I think) and am quite pleased. While I'm figuring out new apps and learning the different sort of typing, I am quite happy with the switch. I can now multitask, the monthly cost is cheaper and (over here) the 3G coverage actually, well, covers most of where I spend my days.
