  1. There are never enough mes though. Eldest is already a loquacious braggart so job done on that front.
  2. How long ago was this? The pressure must be building on all companies to provide decent parental leave these days, right? Mind you, my mate works in the states and what they get over there is fucking risible. Might be wrong, but I think they are allowed 12 weeks unpaid parental leave. The wife is taking about a year; some of it full pay, some statutory, and some unpaid. But the company calculated the total amount and spread it evenly across the duration of the leave. Again, shit like this makes it easier to budget, and reduces the stress significantly.
  3. I get two lots of two months paternity leave, I have to be in work for at least 2 months between them, but I'm going to take two months at the beginning (March) and the other bit in early 2025. Also when I finish that second spell I return to work on an 80% hrs/100% pay split for 6 months. It's brilliant support and makes handling childcare so much more affordable and easy. It isn't as good as some of the Scandi countries though.
  4. I've enjoyed local and lower league football recently too. Been to see some of the local clubs like Avro, West Didsbury and Chorlton FC, Cheadle Town and Altrincham. Also watched AFC Wimbledon manage one the most turgid 0-0s I've ever seen, despite them having some entertainment in all their fixtures before and after it. Haven't taken the lad to watch those games, but did take him to watch Stockport last season. He enjoyed about 75 minutes of it, then morphed into the Tasmanian Devil.
  5. It's been an hour, when's the punchline coming?
  6. Well, no, few of us have been there. But I've had a call from the CSA before. Scared the shit out of me. Wasn't me though.
  7. That you know of. You may well get a call from the CSA any day now. We've all been there.
  8. Even when they were in League 1, any points dropped were because they were the biggest game in their opponents' season. It's not because they were pony.
  9. The good thing about Miley is that he's already got the height, so if he fills out he could be pretty imposing.
  10. My only concern with the above is the physicality that's pretty important for that role. Miley isn't afraid to get stuck in, but I worry he'd be too easily nudged off the ball.
  11. That's noble and I get it, but howay, a little somethingsomething in his Big Mac that makes him shit himself into the hereafter? Well that's a fun time for everyone.
  12. Anyone watched Beyond Utopia? It's been recommended by a less than reliable source.
  13. Typo, 400 ships. Still, that's some navy she had. Inherited the force from her husband, then shacked up with his adopted son (or his lover, there seems to be confusion) after the old man drowned.
  14. Yeah, it only shows where dissent or a tactical foul has been blown up. Man City are prodigious with the ol' tactical foul, but get away with it. Chelsea and Man Utd are most likely to suffer in my opinion. They're more reliant on the individual plucking a bit of quality out of their arse, rather than the team's style. Bruno Fernandes gets benched for 10 minutes, then there's nobody to pull the strings. If Nunez gets benched, Liverpool will get by without him just fine.
  15. If we play Tino we're less susceptible to pacey wingers in a straight race, but are more susceptible to powerful wide men and we're more likely to be left shorthanded whenever we're hit on the counter because Tino will be further up the field. If we play Burn we're able to switch to a fairly solid back 3, but are more susceptible to pacey wingers. Stick Joelinton in the midfield and both players' weaknesses are mitigated somewhat. Maybe the answer isn't dropping Burn, but changing the way the midfield operate? Or pulling Gordon further back to provide defensive cover? Changing formation to a 5-3-2, with Burn and Tino on the left hand side, the only 3 midfielders we've got in front of them and Isak/Wilson and Gordon up front? I don't know what the answer is, but I don't think a straight swap of left backs is the panacea people appear to think it is.
  16. Zheng Yi Sao was a prolific pirate in the early 1800s. Her fleet was about 40 ships, with 60,000-80,000 pirates. She was probably one of the most successful pirates ever.
  17. How much do you reckon Toney will go for in the summer?
