  1. He got pelters early on, but thanks to consistently decent performances and not being on twitter that much he's become much more respected by the fans.
  2. Think you've misunderstood Steve. There's been a conversation about which games are most likely to provide three points and those 4 are from teams around us. Don't think people are saying that we 100% will not win any games outside of those four, nor are they saying that we'll definitely win them. This is Newcastle; we could get 12pts from Man City, Spurs, Southampton and Liverpool, and lose to Norwich, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Swansea. It's just more likely that the team sitting 19th has a better chance of getting wins against clubs who're also dogshit. Also, I don't think it's just about desire, Colback had plenty of desire in the derby and was by far the worst player.
  3. 1 of the four winnable games. Big worry is left back. Hoping for more returning players. Another short sentence goes here.
  4. Don't think it was the things out of his hand that was the problem.
  5. Was Johnson at sunderland when Keane was manager?
  6. RTG user "Hugh Gains" http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/aj.1213789/page-22#post-22587083
  7. I say we see if we can get Kazenga Lualua on an emergency loan, he's not been playing for Brighton recently so they might be willing to part with CT's erstwhile favourite, temporarily.
  8. Having more options is rarely a bad thing for a good manager. Obertan is rapid and away from home that can be great on the break, or late in games. That said, Sissoko, Wijnaldum & Townsend are all rapid and can contribute more to the team than old Squidward.
  9. Elliott is still paying for some fairly poor displays early on in his Newcastle career. I don't think he's better than Krul, and I certainly don't think he's better than Krul can become with the right coaching. Have to remember they're both not that old in 'keeping terms (29 & 27 respectively).
  10. The other's aren't a death cult. You can't threaten them with loss of life, indefinite imprisonment acts as fuel for further radicalisation. Surely the real solution to the radicalisation of young, disenfranchised boys has to come from within the Islamic faith?
  11. Nice sentiment, but only 1/2 of the problem.
  12. Well, apart from the fact there's no Hell, or Heaven or anything else found in fairytales either. Re: your last paragraph, I agree, those are the issues that need dealing with, but those aren't issues the West can deal with. It's the responsibility of the local governments. So despite you saying it's up to the Rest of the World to tackle them, I'd say it's not on us at all. I also don't think there's the will to affect change from local governments.
  13. Or watching the first few seasons of The Wire.
  14. If we're in the top flight next year, who's your 1st choice?
  15. Don't think anybody is blaming Islam. I agree that bombing is generally a worthless exercise, but how do you negotiate with a death cult? IS aren't bothered by sanctions or legislation, their structure means they're not going to have a moderate leader that the outside world can deal with. Even if there was someone willing to open discussions with the West, they'd be overthrown by someone else who feels they're too soft. Pumping aid and resources into regions under threat is a great and noble thing, but too much of that doesn't get to the people who need it. It's a massively complex issue before you begin to look at the domestic power plays made off the back of atrocities, or what pressure the Military Industrial complex applies, or, or, or, or... Doing nothing is not an option, but I don't believe the West can solve this with bombs or bargaining. I think this issue has to be resolved by people that the locals will trust. But that's not likely, is it?
