I'd prefer to play my strongest side in every game, but when 2 of them are playing poorly, and two of them are expected to run for 90 as part of their role, it certainly makes sense to me to replace and rest them respectively. The only changes I'd say are unnecessary are Rooney/Henderson and Sturridge for Ali.

Not sure about that, certainly if he can make changes at/just after half time if needs be. Sterling was worse than an empty shirt, Kane seems to be struggling, so there's 2 changes that 100% will improve the side. Replacing Walker and Rose makes sense as they've been up and down the flanks all game for the previous 2 and you'd want them fresh for what comes next. Henderson for Rooney and Sturridge for Ali makes sense from a squad fitness perspective too.

Can't see him getting another season like the one he's just enjoyed. Perhaps his last, best chance at securing a big money move? Not that money should be the sole motivator, but if I were in his position I'd have taken the move to Arsenal (or wherever) for the big bucks, and a season or so later moved on to Everton or wherever, benefiting from the premium that's attached to representing one of England's "big" clubs. It's not like he's a one club man or owt.
