Jesus that's terrifying. Not the words, but the rage.

Palace will definitely be one of them. Pardew never got the players he wanted at Newcastle which is why he's trying to bring them all to Palace.

This is the key for me. I wonder if the people worried about the team were expecting us to buy Premier League players to sit on the bench?

Just curious, were you excited by our signings when we last went down, (or when we came up?)

Happy with that, good head on his shoulders.

..and who would add anything to the squad. People writing them off, without ever seeing them play. We're in the Championship, we need a squad that gives us the best chance of getting promoted at the 1st time of asking. Hanley has been one of the best CBs in this league for the past few seasons and we've got him for £5m, Clark is a utility defender and (as with Dummett) can cover positions to a sufficient standard that you won't worry too much. Who were they expecting?

Depending on how long you've got before/after there's some decent pubs around Clapham Common, but that might be a bit of a schlep if you're leaving the match and darting off.

You reckon? What position?

You'll be hard pressed to find a good pub that isn't posh in Fulham & Chelsea. I like the White Horse for a sunday roast, but not for a pre-Match pint. It's nickname is the Sloaney Pony... so there's that Eight Bells is the traditional away pub, but unless you're there early it'll be a miracle if you get served before the final whistle. It's right beside Putney Bridge station so it's the 1st place away fans pile into. The Bricklayers arms is a good pub but it's about a 20 minute walk from Craven Cottage. I'll be there with @@Matt and a few mates before the game and probably afterwards too. How are you getting there? As Strawb says, it might be worth you getting a few beers somewhere else, like Clapham Junction.

Gil there, looking over like Gerry Hall owes him money.

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland international defender Ciaran Clark. The versatile 26-year-old joins from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee and has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at St. James' Park. Clark came up through the ranks at Villa Park before making his debut in August 2009, while still a teenager. It wasn't long before he became a regular in the Villa side and over the following six seasons made a further 158 appearances, scoring ten goals. The centre-back has also won 19 caps for the Republic of Ireland, representing his nation at Euro 2016 this summer. "Newcastle is a massive club so I'm really happy to be here," said Clark. "Importantly, it is a club that is moving in the right direction and pushing for the right things, so I'm really excited to now be a part of that. "Things seem to have progressed really quickly over the last few days but I'm delighted to have got it all done and be a part of this squad." Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez added: "Ciaran is a very versatile player, as a left-footed centre-back he can also play left-back and also as a defensive midfielder. "He has a lot of experience of English football and will add good balance and competition to our squad. "I am sure he will progress with us here at Newcastle, we are very happy for him to join us." That's telling, isn't it.

Mo Diame:

Think we're short on quality on the wings and short on creativity in the centre, but aye it's been a Transfer Window of understated competence.

To be fair, we've got shot of 2 CBs as well.
-
To be honest I'm just amazed Boris is doing so well.

The forward looks quality, and I'd take the midfielder for a season if he was part of that deal. If I had confidence we're going to spend another £30m on players good enough to not only perform at this level but likely to perform in the Top Flight too, I'd be more worried about the extra £10m. But honestly, I think we'll sign a couple more players after Clark and Diame and their combined fees will total <£20m. Looks like it's a non-starter anyway.

To be fair, saying that a very meaty sandwich looks like good hangover food could be expected to throw me off a bit

Seems expected that Sissoko, Saivet & Thauvin will go before the window closes. And, we'll need a big squad in the Championship.
