  1. I don't think I've ever opened this thread to see anything but vitriolic contempt for the cyclists from Wykiki
  2. Luke Cage released on Netflix today, looking forward to binge watching that tonight. Going to have chicken and grits, drink a 40 out of a brown paper bag and get shot by a cop to really get into the mood.
  3. I'm not happy it's happening in here, but I do take some pleasure from seeing your position mocked.
  4. It's not so much wanting a 4-4-2 for me, it's more about wanting to drop Diame (who isn't doing much) and start Mitrovic (who needs to get game time). If you're doing that, it makes sense to play Mitrovic up front alongside Gayle. If you're going to try 4-4-2, away to rock bottom Rotherham is the time to try it. Less pressure from the Newcastle support, facing a comparatively weak opposition and after a confidence boosting last gasp winner. Rotherham have conceded 2 or more in all but 1 game (a 1-0 win against Brentford) giving them the worst defence in the league. We've scored 21, scoring twice in 3/4s of our games and boasting the best attack in the league.
  5. Pardew would take a copy to watch at home, strip off and self abuse muttering at the screen "Vees mahgs aint fahkin shit mate, you're the king!"
  6. He is though, it's the other facets to Messi's game that sets him apart; his vision, his application, his generosity. On pure control of the ball Ben Arfa is as gifted as Messi. One thing I've wondered, would Messi worked as hard and been so generous had he started his professional career elsewhere? He's unbelievably good at football, but if he'd started life at Sevilla would he have been honed into the player we see now? Frustrated at the ability of his team mates would he have taken on responsibility to try and beat 6 men and score himself, rather than passing? Seeing the brace he scored wiped out by poor defending would he become fed up and stop putting in the effort? Without players making clever runs would he know how to spot them? Dunno, and it's no excuse for a lot of Ben Arfa's faults, but is Messi the best player on the planet as much because of the opportunities as it is because of his talent? Or simply that he grasped those opportunities with both hands where Ben Arfa watched them go by?
  7. Matt Ritchie with 1 goal and three assists, Matt Ritchie who has consistently been one our better performers in every game he's played... that Matt Ritchie?
  8. I think he's a forward, but he's played off the flanks much more than from the centre. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yoan-gouffran/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/23825
  9. So? I didn't find out about WWII first hand either. My sisters are unmitigated arseholes, this is true.
  10. I beginning to think 90% of my opinion on this is born out of stand-ups repeating it.
  11. My Dad's dad was a horrible prick, he was dead before my 1st birthday.
  12. Sorry, my post wasn't really very well thought out. I meant to say "I thought everyone thought it and that there'd be evidence, but this is all I could find of any real substance" I'm pretty tired.
  13. Get this real-life shit out of my Nerd-fest thread. Magnificent 7 is not Magnificent, but it's all right popcorn fare. Dr Strange is coming out soon and looks trippy as fuck.
  14. Always thought it was common consensus http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/news/walt-disney-s-grandniece-backs-up-meryl-streep-s-racism-claims-anti-semite-check-misogynist-of-9064138.html
  15. Haven't read the thread, but has anyone checked on Noelie? Great result, and proof that we can beat anyone in this division, great for Gayle to get his hattrick and great for Gouffran to continue his revival but... We have to focus for 90 minutes, stupid penalties have cost us too much already. We need to put chances away when we're on top. I now really want to see us play with 2 up front at home.
  16. Not sure how much is simply down to Gouffran playing in his natural position?
  17. Aye, I thought that, but Hysteria conjured images of panic and that didn't quite fit with what I had in my head. Never mind, I was probably only ever going to use it to be pompous anyway
  18. More referencing Disney's pretty robust views on Jewish people, but aye you're not wrong.
  19. You're a man who might know; is there a term for that kind of shared acceptance of a falsehood? Like 'cognitive dissonance' but on a grand scale? The kind of mass delusion exhibited by the Far-Right in the states during every election that means, regardless of the evidence stacked up against their nominee, they'll ignore, refute or twist reality and continue to support him/her?
  20. Yeah that's fair, Ritchie is a rare mix of graft and technique. Think Robert was more likely to do the utterly preposterous and had more pace, but Ritchie adds more to this version of Newcastle United than Robert would.
