Generic small time football blather thread 2015/16

Saw that, was it the Northumberland cup or something? -

Many good opportunities to slope off unnoticed and go and hang out with your actual mates instead

Thanks for this input Commodore Sarcasmo, but was that not a common criticism of Cisse and other "instinctive strikers"? Oh, wait, yes it fucking was.
-
Maybe that's the problem? maybe Perez is better when he's working at a faster pace, operating on instincts? The goals that stick in the mind are snap volleys or first time takes.
-
I also think he benefits from playing with Mitro more so than with Gayle.
-
Usually when compared to the other top leagues.
-
Why do you think that is? The physicality? the pace?
-
Pretty much, although he has a better beard.
-
Aye, that's where I am. He can play better and needs to either improve his technique, or make quicker decisions. I felt I had to defend him because he'd been singled out for criticism in a 2-0 away win against Leeds United who're pushing for the play-offs.

Echo what everyone else says, go and see a GP. But also, talk to your partner/a trusted friend, if you can. I know having people who know what I'm going through/am trying to avoid has helped me massively. As has the aforementioned CBT. As an aside, it's great that we're living in an age where it's easier to talk about depression and the like. I know that a lad who's only in his early 40s,who has struggled his whole life with it and it's only the past year or so that he's been able to talk about it openly.

Got one of those plates of glass that people use in films to scribble equations on.

Gayle hasn't shown me anything that suggests he can play deeper. He's at his best playing off the shoulder of the centre back. He hasn't the vision or passing to play the deeper lying role and we'd miss his disruptive movement further forward. I'd like a better No.10 than both Perez and Diame to be honest.
-
That's the crux of the matter.
-
Partly watching his movement when he's on screen but not necessarily involved, partly hearing 1st hand accounts, partly looking at data, partly guesswork based on the role.
-
I think I'm more interested in it than the average fan, for sure.
-
Maybe, he's entirely capable of turning a narrow loss into a draw, or a score draw into a win.
-
Forster is better than anyone we've got between the sticks.

Calm down, I fully appreciate that Perez hasn't been playing particularly well and he is guilty of surrendering possession. But the criticism of him is way over the top, he certainly had a better game than Ritchie. Also, the position he plays means that a lot of the work he does goes unnoticed. His movement pulls defenders out of their position, and creates pockets of space for Gayle or whomever to exploit. He also occupies the opposition midfielders which gives Shelvey more time on the bal (or Colback last game). But because the camera follows the ball, people notice him giving the ball away. And because he tends to be receiving the ball under pressure he's more likely to give the ball away than not.

He certainly hasn't impressed, but then neither has Gamez, Lazaar, Murphy, Hanley, or Diame.

Well, Rafa seems to share my view, but if you hate Rafa and think he's an idiot, you can continue thinking the wrong things that you're thinking.
