  2. That's what Mitrovic is for. He's starting in the Birmingham game.
  3. The forum dies every year, and then is reborn from the ashes like an inbred gay bar from the flames.
  4. To be honest i'd be disappointed if Colback was the go-to partner for Shelvey after the January window shuts. He's fine, like you say, but he's surely not going to be part of the Premier League squad should we go up in May?
  5. They don't need him in the summer though, they need a striker now. Finishing a few places up the league is worth plenty, and Defoe is worth a few spots on his own if he keeps up his scoring return. Also in the summer there will be more players available and looking to move, so they wouldn't be chasing a 35yr old striker, it's now or never for this move. West Ham wouldn't screw him over and risk the move for the sake of 50k pw.
  6. I was cockahoop when I discovered you can format text in whatsapp.
  7. Few places reporting that West Ham have given up on Defoe. Now's the time for him to submit a transfer request.
  8. If Defoe wants to leave, I don't think there's much Sunderland can do; They need him to play every game They need him to put in the kinds of performances he has been They can't drop him if his application dwindles and expect to survive They can't afford to buy someone to challenge his starting place They can't afford to let him see out his contract and leave for nothing If he's denied a move his form will naturally decline, maybe he takes longer to get over an injury than he would if he was eager to play for them. Right now, if I were his representatives, I'd be telling him that he's a highly regarded, in form, industrious Premier League striker, but if he sees out his contract, he'll likely be a recently relegated out of contract 35yr old, Striker training with a Championship club. And should he get injured while busting his arse for a club that's odds-on to go down, that's the ballgame. Nobody is going to risk paying the £100k pw they're offering now, when there'll be plenty of options in the summer market. If he wants to go all Sunderland can do is try and get as much as possible from West Ham, sell a couple of their other players like Kone (£15m), Khazri(£6m-£9m), maybe Pickford(£20m) and with the monies recouped from those sales(£55m), they could build a side that might stay up, but would be very well suited to win the Championship at the first time of asking if they don't.
  9. If West Ham are happy to offer more than Sunderland in wages, and Defoe doesn't believe Short is going to invest, he'll hand in a transfer request, I'm sure of it.
  10. I don't actually argue with the masses on twitter.
  11. Malcolm is decent on mine, but works best from the flanks. so that's probably of no use. you're welcome. Kuki?
  12. If the "loads of time" doesn't work I just promise to talk at the end of the season, source their replacement, and bin the whiny cunts off.
  13. They're dumb as fuck, but if enough clever people take the time to explain things to them, who knows what changes could be made.
  14. Partly the tears he shed in response to the ovation they gave him, the effort he's put in on the pitch, the vociferous celebrations. It could be nowt, but I just get the feeling he's not just happy to pick up a cheque. Compare him to, say, Kone or Khazri.
  15. I try to get the captain to talk to them and if that doesn't work it's normally the "there's plenty time on your contract" shtick.
  16. I do think Defoe has an affection for Sunderland, but like you say; Last chance of a big move, moving close to home, moving back to a boyhood club, moving to a better team...
  17. If more intelligent people engaged with the average person we wouldn't have Brexit or Trump in the Whitehouse.
  18. Aye it's the twitter bellends, declaring that if we don't sign a host of players we'll not go up. 2nd Para is spot on as well.
  19. Taking nothing for granted, but the collective panicking is ludicrous. We were never going to walk the league, so while every loss is disappointing we shouldn't piss our pants.
  20. We're 2nd, not 8th No team has more wins No team has scored more We've the best Goal Difference We remain 5th in the form table despite our little wobble We have the appeal to attract Premier League players to the 2nd tier We have the funds to afford those players in January We have the right manager to identify and convince those players We have the best manager in the league We are still odds-on to win the title, let alone get promoted.
