  1. I don't mind rugby fans trying to tell me that their game is better because the play is more about teamwork and there aren't primadonnas. If they're actually rugby fans who attend games, who understand the rules and who aren't just girls who like the big burly men. I mean, the rugby fans are wrong, it's not a better sport, it's an inferior sport in many many ways, but at least they know what they're talking about.
  2. I hope he makes something of his career as he seemed to have the ability, and seemed a nice kid off the pitch. No idea what want on, but I don't begrudge him success like I do Ranger. Abeid is another that looked ok and I don't fully understand what he did wrong, he's at Dijon at the minute.
  3. There's a thread about which 3 clubs they think will go down, only 5 from the 32 who answered the OP's question think they'll go down. They're bottom of the league with 19pts, 2 wins in their last twelve games.
  4. Raphael Honigstein just asked on twitter if there was anything worse in football than a cross that doesn't beat the first man? For me it's foul throws and a throw-in taker demanding the ball back when in an offside position. How can you get either of those wrong? You're a goddamn professional son, act like it.
  5. Aye, but most of the kids these days have no idea about that stuff. So Twitter, journalists and fanzines try to fabricate a rivalry to get RTs, clicks and attention. No real problem with that to be honest, football is always more interesting if there's confrontation. It's just when it's handled so clumsily, like Villa's desperate grab for our attention. They've a local rival in this league, one who next season they should really be in a position to embarrass, why not stoke the fires of the Wolves rivalry?
  6. Hope someone corrects me if I get this wrong, but essentially when the miners were striking it was the Nottinghamshire pits that broke ranks and weakened the position of the unions. There was also a pitch incursion by us which forced a replay that we won (can't remember but I think we were losing at the time, or were missing a couple key players?)
  7. The young lads going now have no earthly idea why. They'll join in shouting "Scabs" at the Forest fans, but they don't really know why.
  8. Honestly think that's a large reason behind these articles. They're trying to be relevant and picking a fight with the "biggest" club in the league is a good way of doing that. It's a manufactured enmity for most. Same's happened with Forest and Leeds to be honest. I fucking hate them mind, always have.
  9. It'll be a special Valentines Day on Wearside this year
  10. A handy rule of thumb is that if Kermode is willing to spend a good amount of time ranting about a movie, it's probably not worth it. This, Sex and the City 2, Entourage, etc.
  11. Both Planet Earth series have been awesome in the truest sens of the word, some real jaw-dropping, edge of the seat drama, all from a nature documentary. The visuals are incredible, this season the music has been unsurprisingly brilliant thanks to Hans Zimmer's involvement and, as ever, the narration is superb. The BBC regularly produces some of the best TV out there and yet there's people in the world who moan about it relentlessly.
  12. Show focussed more on how creatures were adapting to this new environment, like Leopards hunting feral pigs on the outskirts of the city e.g. It did briefly show that Singapore have "supertrees" which are huge skeletons with planters and provide a solid structure for vines, creepers and what not, it also has skyscrapers with trees and bushes upon terraces and a true roof garden.
  13. Did you watch the final episode of Planet Earth II where the focus was on cities and an effort in one to have construction be sympathetic to flora and fauna? Edit: Singapore
  14. Got to admit I had high hopes for Bigi, but weren't there rumours about off-field problems? He certainly had the attributes to play at a decent level.
  15. W% when on Sky 40% (10 games) W% when not on Sky 86% (18 games) On TV; Fulham L, Brighton W, Derby W, Villa D, Leeds W, Forest L, Sheff Wed L, Blackburn L. Wigan W. QPR D. If I were Paul Lambert I'd prepare for this game as he would an away day. Concede possession, look for opportunities on the counter, but be pragmatic first and foremost. Read Gayle might be ready, but Atsu will definitely be available for selection. I personally wouldn't risk Gayle until he's definitely ready. Especially as we have 5 games in the last 3 weeks of February. This is when our depth needs to tell. The other teams have had a bad weekend/week, we need to kick on and take advantage of it.
  16. Miles Starforth of the Gazette believes there is a fee, doesn't know what it is though.
  17. Might be possible to get amongst the chasing pack (I think Southampton could do it if they could only get some stability in the manager's office), but I just can't see a Brighton surging to the summit of the Premier League without spending an eye-watering fortune, the likes of which even Man City and Chelsea would baulk at.
  18. To be fair it's a totally different landscape now, with a large but not ludicrous investment a 2nd tier club could challenge for the top flight title, that's simply not the case now. The gap's increased too much. Surely most of the profit came from the story, and the attention that rise brought?
  19. If only Ashley had the same kind of fearless ambition that Sir John Hall had, Benitez may have had a similar galvanising impact on the club and the city. If we had an owner who reached for the stars instead of looking for pennies in the gutter, we might see a proper trophy at St James' Park.
  20. We don't know how the rest of the season is going to pan out. Gayle might get injured, or the mad Serb might get more game time and Mitrovic may take his chance to shine. He's scored goals for a shit team in the Premier League, so until we see him back up there, we don't know if he'll make it or not. I certainly think he's good enough to lead the line for at least a mid-to-bottom Premier League side though.
  21. Was this abroad? I don't think there'll be too many hot Spanish girls doing this in Seaton Sluice. There's a bit of a shortage of muy caliente chicas in Blyth Valley.
