Gloom is a drinker. Proper Madmen style drink cabinet in his wood panelled office. Plus I heard he calls his secretary "kitten". -

Why would lowballing Mike Ashley strengthen her chances with Liverpool's owners? Newcastle are worth, what, £280m? Liverpool are worth £1.5bn. Ashley wants to sell. FSG don't. -

See this is where we diverge; in what world would someone make their first bid non-negotiable? -

But an initial low "take it or leave it" offer makes no sense. If you were buying a car and tried to lowball the vendor with a take it or leave it offer, they'd tell you to fuck off, and should you try any future bids, your negotiating power would be banjaxed... if they entertained the bids at all. So I wholly disagree that an initial bid that is low and a take it or leave it offer, makes any kind of sense. How's that for windmilling, you big ol' Nazi? -
AYE, SO STICK THAT UP YA SHITPIPE EBERK!

Your position was to believe the "take it or leave it" offer made sense. My position was to dismiss it, because it makes little sense. I offered a more likely scenario, where this rumoured bid is simply the first of a back-and-forth, moving towards a potential sale. And my pants are dry, where yours are sodden. -

Aye, but rather than the stupidity of the rumoured move giving you pause to doubt the stupid move has been made at all, you react to the rumoured stupid move. -
Sir Bob called him "Alec", so I will too. I will also call Shola "Carl Cort". and you a cunt.

Eh? Ashley has Benitez now. Rayvin suggested Ashley would bin him off in favour of Pulis. I said that was daft. You're now saying "aye but he signed Kinnear". Well he did, but that's because he didn't have Benitez. Which was my initial point. Mad head. -
Nope. Piece of piss that.

No it's not. You're assuming the reports that it's a "take it or leave it" offer are legit, when really, we have no proof of that. What's most likely is that this £300m official bid is the opening salvo. He might want £400m but that is ludicrously high. PCP are looking closer to £300m, which is still a good price for us. There'll be a back and forth and the final price will be somewhere between the two, if it happens. Both parties are apparently open to flexibility in terms of payment structure, so making your first bid a "take it or leave it" offer would be a bit fucking counterintuitive, wouldn't it? Newcastle's stock will never be higher without significant investment, and if Ashley wants to get a decent amount for us, now's the time to sell. -
Well, sure if you discount his good work with Wales it's not hugely impressive. But if you discount Alec Ferguson's work with Man Utd his career isn't that impressive.

He must be kicking himself that Pulis got the boot so soon after he joined Sunderland. fwiw, I agree he's a limited coach, but he's surely better than Grayson? Though that superiority may count for naught given the funds he doesn't have and the squad he does.

Half way through The Punisher and so far it's much, much better than the last two Marvel Netflix offerings. Not for the faint hearted at times, but a good mix of humour and darkness. In Iron Fist and the Defenders most of the fights felt lightweight, like they were showing off stunts. Whereas this feels more visceral. Think Bernthal is very good and is a great bit of casting (up there with D'Onofrio as Fisk and Tennant and Killgrave imo) and the support cast is decent too. For people who're put off by the Comic Book source material, this has no spandex, no "superhero" vibe to it; it's a vengeance tv show. There's still some OTT violence, but it's in-keeping rather than gratuitous, imo.

Ashley wants a Premier League club, Benitez will deliver that. Shepherd wanted to sort out the dressing room, and thought that Souness would sort the idiots out and stupidly thought that alone would deliver top 5 finishes. -
