Why has consequence become diminished? Trump, for example, can say whatever he likes and even when his statements are quoted back to him he just shrugs it off. Russia seems to be acting without fear of repercussions from the wider world. The Saudis can murder a journalist and shrug it off. It's not as simple as the attention span of the public. There just doesn't seem to be any power holding the powerful in check.

I have a prediction; When Brexit results in the UK's economy stagnating or declining, the blame will fall on the Remainers, the experts, the EU, the rest of the World, the immigrants who left, the immigrants who stayed.
