  1. How'd you stop morons turning up at Anfield/Old Trafford in their droves? Play the games in China.
  2. Is the proposal to play at neutral venues purely to reduce the risk of home fans turning up to the ground? I've been operating under the assumption that that suggestion would be resisted by the players, staff and everyone else who'd need to be involved.
  3. It's not about perfection, there is no perfect solution. It's what solution is most fair and relegating a side when they've not played a full season and are on the same number of points as another team is not fair. Their lawyers would have a field day. Void this season and it's fair to everyone. Nobody is promoted, nobody relegated. Plus, Liverpool are denied the title, Leeds miss out on promotion again, mackems guaranteed to spend a 3rd season in the 3rd tier of English football. Win fucking win.
  4. No they aren't. Villa have played fewer games than the teams above them for a start. 1 win and they leapfrog three teams into safety. https://ibb.co/FgC1RdT[/img] That run in is not the same for each team. Not least because Villa have played fewer games than the teams above them. Managers would have identified games to target for 3 points in that run, had they known the season would be without those games, they would have approached the season differently, wouldn't they? Personally, I say void the season.
  5. Because if it isn't mathematically sure, then it shouldn't be forced upon a team. Watford, West Ham and Bournemouth are split by 0pts and 3 goals. There's no way you can say that any of them deserve to drop more than the other two. If Relegation was purely an abstract, it wouldn't matter, but relegation to the Championship would be financially catastrophic for the likes of West Ham. The type of loss that would not go without challenge if the cause was unfair.
  6. The only other option is relegate teams, which isn't fair unless they're already mathematically down. It would surely create legal problems up and down the leagues. An extra 2 fixtures per team is doable in the Premier League, but the thing I suggested would mean the lower leagues have the same number of games that they'd normally have.

He took some convincing that the poor sap with the toontastic handle on twitter, wasn't actually a representative of this parish.
  8. I would have thought it would make sense to promote the two in the automatic places of the championship, promote 2 from League 1, 3 from League 2 given Bury's exclusion? You'd have 22 in the Premier League, 24 in the Championship, 24 in League 1 and 24 in League 2 after a 1 off play off for promotion from the National League?
  9. I can understand teams raising their game for a recently relegated "big club" from the Premier League, in the Championship. there's little doubt that Rotherham would look at Villa, Newcastle, even Sunderland as a big game in the 2nd tier. But do League 1 sides see a team that's had 2 seasons in League 1 as a cup final? I mean, maybe in the first season, but now, they're just another League 1 side, right? There are teams more recently relegated from the Championship in the division.
  10. Half expecting Tino to put on that dinosaur outfit and literally jump a shark.
  11. Three seasons in the 3rd tier, and a financial basket case of a club. It'll be interesting to see what state they're in after COVID restrictions are lifted.
  12. Saw somewhere (twitter) that this transfer would use SWIFT? apparently can go through in less than 30 minutes.
  13. I distinctly remember West Ham and Everton fans giving us shit for not putting up with Allardyce's brand of football. Sharp changed their tune when they had to endure it themselves. Same's true of Palace of Pardew.
  14. I'm surprised none of the clubs that they've got a fantastic relationship with have offered to help out.
  15. I'd agree with PB in that the elite player won't want to come to Newcastle, yet. Yes, money talks, but Mbappe can make hundred of thousands a week, AND play in the Champions League, compete for domestic trophies and all that jazz. Also, FFP rules will mean that if we looked to signed a player on the massive wages it would require to get a top player, our wage bill would increase too much to pass even the slackened rules, surely? It's wiser, surely, to build a sustainable approach that you can carry on?
  16. so if the O&D test takes 2-4 weeks, it could be done by the end of this week?
  17. Wasn't that the date put forward for the beginning of the Owner's and Director's test?
  18. Have I missed something? I know I've been away a while, what with getting married having a kid, buying a house and all that stuff I've likely not mentioned at all.
  19. Still don't believe he got it without googling. Bet he cheats at the pub quizzes too. They're an inscrutable folk, the Scots.
