  1. Well aye, he's not going to lean into it, or away from it too much. Just plot a steady course.
  2. Of course they do, there's a Premier League tax for all top flight English clubs, as there is a rich club tax for a few of us, and a Newcastle tax because we're; rich, a Premier League club, a new threat to the established teams
  3. Honestly, I'd have thought this would be the perfect time to have someone like Corbyn (but not Corbyn). A real firebrand who can rail against the handling of Brexit whenever the opportunity arises. Sure their incessant grumbling may be dismissed, but it would keep the conversation going, force the Tories to answer questions on it, force the media to talk about it.
  4. I was honestly looking on Amazon for a tv for the snug/playroom/2nd reception room, but there was something I saw where basically all of the products get their price hiked a few months before Prime day, then "dropped" back down to around the usual price on the day. I'm not getting got. Is it wrong that I looked at the drive from here to there, (6 hours 44 minutes) and thought "Fuck all of that"? Going to use work and/or childcare worries as the excuse to swerve the funeral.
  5. So, lets flip that on it's head, for fun. Howe takes the England job, are there many jobs in football under greater scrutiny, greater pressure than managing some of the most overhyped players on the planet, to the satisfaction of a bloodthirsty media and a rabidly expectant fanbase? 4-8yrs of trying and failing to achieve the unlikely success of European or World Cup victories. After that failure his stock will have fallen because of constant criticism from the press and fans, and his career at 50-54yrs old is over. Versus doing well at Newcastle (even without winning a trophy) he could move to any number of jobs in the Premier League or abroad.
  6. Didn't know whether to post this or not but I guess because I champion talking about stuff it'd be hypocritical of me not to. Learned that my cousin died over the weekend. Not sure if it was a deliberate or accidental overdose. Not sure how I feel about it, I didn't really know him that well, hadn't spoken in decades really. But I know he was struggling with his mental health and part of me can't help but think about the what ifs for my own situation. Then the guilt comes with making it all about me. Then the fear comes back. Then the rational side of me kicks in again. It's all a bit contradictory, I guess.
  7. No, Howe likes the day-to-day and he's got unfinished business with the club. If we'd won stuff already he may be tempted, but he's at an ambitious club, with disgustingly wealthy and supportive owners, a fanbase that loves him and a long, long career ahead of him. England are now producing way more talented young players than once they did and by the time he's ready for international football, who knows what standard of player England will have available? He's going nowhere and anyone who thinks he is, is just letting fear override reason.
  8. The Germans are such a helpful people, that person in front showing all around them where the big screen is.
  9. Mackems do it with Henderson and Pickford.
  10. It's the language used, it's negative enough to get clicks, but woolly enough to pass the retrospection test.
  11. I remember when we had some people who followed Ben Arfa, it's not something I can get my head around. I like a player when he's linked, judge him when he's here and oscillate between genial indifference and outright contempt when he leaves. ASM was an entertaining player, his move helped us with PSR. That's the top and bottom of it for me.
  12. Yeah and Burridge would set St James' Park on fire killing thousands which the Right Wing press would blame India, leading to Pakistan feeling emboldened enough to launch a ground assault ramping up tensions in the region. Russia and China would get nervous and begin posturing, using Korea as a theatre for their conflict, in a fit of rage Kim launches a nuke at China, they retaliate with strikes of their own against Korea and Russia (who they blame), Russia sees it's own end and tries to bring down everyone with them, America joins in and the world is destroyed.
  13. See, at this point there's the opportunity for me to be the "bigger man", but CT has that position all sewn up. So,
  14. He has a deep seated fear of dogs, as it happens.
  15. I agree, but he doesn't like Ben or Benjamin. He actually speaks about the choice with his therapist, in the book. Essentially a subconscious attempt to cling onto his childhood, or something.
