If this takeover goes through, and the new owners are eager to build a Man City-esque dynasty, the collective meltdown on wearside will be a sight to see. While they're mortgaging the stadium to cover the cost of the experienced League 1 striker's pittance of a wage, we're signing official tractor partnership deals for twice the worth of their club.

I might be biased, but it seems easier to become a 'thing' in right wing political social media. Especially if you're a minority.

This revelation has the potential to be fucking gold.

Upside of living in a pretty Tory area is that unless you play golf with them the neighbours are quite happy not knowing you at all. If this was a Green Party stronghold I'm convinced I'd be pestered to try Number 58's "scrummy aubergine bake"

Yeah if they felt it was insurmountable they'd have sacked it off ages ago. To be honest any decent counsel would have advised them before the bid that a) the rights issue would be complicated, 2) the WTO report would be damaging and iii) there'd be a lot of Human Rights noise surrounding the bid. If that didn't dissuade them from bidding then the delays and attention won't either. Not sure I share your optimism for their determination mind. Honestly think they'll be unmoved by this, unless our club comes up against a Qatari owned club any time soon. Wonder if BeIN will choose not to broadcast our games should the takeover go ahead. -

All the noise and theatre is just a distraction from the actual issue; Premier League want as much assurance as possible that their intellectual property will not be pirated. If that means the KSA need to organise a bid for the MENA rights, arrest a few patsies and make inconsequential promises, then so be it. PL aren't looking for a reason to block it, they have those, in spades, they're wanting to use this leverage to get a better deal. -

Didn't Ashley get hauled in front of a select Committee? How'd that impact his business practises? -
Does this mean that skinny old "You want some" Wealdstone Raider will be anointed a MLF?
-
fuck off.

Well, with that kind of insight, I'm sure you're right.

More interested in progress of their young players than results in non-competitive games. We were returning shit results when the Longstaffs were coming through. There may well be some decent prospects, there may be capable and impressive coaches and other staff.

If it's true that their owners are having to sell the Academy a well run local rival should be well placed to take advantage.

You're wrong.

Phil's definitely got a samurai sword on the wall and a pair of nunchuks, hasn't he?

Said the same last night. For a club so fond of romanticism, it is the least romantic way possible to win your first domestic title in 30yrs.

Yep. I think it'll bleed into normal life to and everybody will be shuffling around on their knees forever. Which is fine for gardeners and the like. Basketball's going to be shit mind. -

Yeah, I think racism is over now. -
Aye, I guess average is a bit harsh, but he's not worth anywhere near £4m. Especially to a club where £4m is a lot of money. Had they just sold Maja for £20m, were debt free and had cash to burn, then who cares? But they're broke, they had to borrow millions to keep the lift working ffs.
